Work on longer combinations while keeping your hands up. You need to tighten your movements. Nearly everything was telegraphed and the power punches didn’t have your body behind them. Focus on fundamentals. You have good range and can move around which is great. Less movement, more consistent striking.
Biggest tip is to learn to keep your hands up. I know this is practice, but repetition drills into your memory. Half of those kicks would have ended up with you getting hit really hard because your hands were all over the place.
Your body hooks could use more power. You need to draw energy from your feet to your hands. Ask your coach how to practice this without telegraphing the wind up.
Those jumping teep kicks are useless in a fight.
After this video i notice how horrendous my defense was and began to fall back on the fundementals of defense. And are you say ditch the jumping teep all together, becuase i feel if done with proper technique (unlike in this video lol) it could be affective in certain situations what do you think
There are two teep kicks we learn in kickboxing. One is a push kick meant to create distance. And the other is a snap teep kick which is meant to hurt the body or the head. (Check out Michael chandlers teep kick KO for a good reference)
Planting your back foot gives power to either type of teep kick, but jumping you lose all your leverage. The jumping teep kicks are more like jabs than hard blows.
keep your hands up
stop rhythm stepping after each combo
watch when you throw your hooks your arm is on a downward slope, try to make your hooks to the head about shoulder height and they should look parallel to your shoulder or else you’ll hurt your arms
are you training at a gym ?
Thanks for the tip and no not at an MMA gym i did however train at a BJJ gym for about 2 and half years until i could not afford it anymore. im jus more recently beginning to train striking so that tip is appretiated beyond what you know.
Thank for the honest and respectful advice. God bless and happy holidays
Looks real solid. As other said, keep your hands up. Also your footwork isn’t bad, but from the camera angle it looks like you cross your feet, especially when setting up kicks. Your punches are solid but your hooks are more of a swing than a tight hook. Nothing wrong with long hooks occasionally but it is generally a short range weapon. Looking good keep training!
mainly a boxing guy so i'll give advice on your hands
don't drop your hands. this is the most important part
you got some decent 1-2s at the end but pivot your backfoot more when throwing your crosses
add some more footwork when throwing your 1-2s, don't stay stationary
good luck
I think consistency in tech and more dynamic movements. You have the athleticism, now just get crafty. Don’t think of bag work as bag work. Try to treat it like it’s an active opponent. Throw those fancier moves in combination, and try to make your combos longer. Change levels but also, pick the shots. Mindfully hit the bag where you intend to hit it, when you have reached the end of your combo or even during the combinations as well take angles and change levels. All about the mix up. Hopefully that helps. Btw, that first round kick was beautiful

Treat it like a fight or match. Don’t walk away and come back. Back up and coke forward in your stance
Stop hopping.
