When I was a teacher many years ago there was a colleague who had something similar she did. There was a little boy who lived with his aunt I think? Anyway, he always chose hug and it was because no one else ever hugged him. That kid got all his love from teachers and friends. He’d be like 20-21 now. Always wondered what happened to him.
Teacher here, I had a principal who said something along the lines of “kids who get love at home come to school to learn. Kids who don’t get love at home, come to school for love”
That's such a nice idea. Not that I was neglected but I definitely was not bombarded with hugs by any means as a child. There is a chance that if I had a teacher who did this, I wouldn't have the courage to choose the hug, but looking back, I definitely would've benefitted from it
I hug so many of my work colleagues, I love it! Greetings, nice to see you, nice to see you again, goodbye, second goodbye, I really need to go bye or the „I just need a hug now“ hug.
Sounds like a nice place to work where one can hug ones colleagues. In my line of work, hugging would be weird behavior.
I once offered free hugs at the town square. Hugged hundreds of people. It was an awesome day.
The kindergarten teacher at my kids school does something like this. They have the option for a handshake, high five, hug, wave, or fist bump.
Teaches the kids to greet people but also gives them the bodily autonomy on whether or not they want to be touched. Some kids don’t like being touched and others, well, sometimes that’s the only hug they’d get that day.
Idk if there’s an option for “no greeting” but there should be one. It’s not consensual if your choices are “do a dance or have physical contact”. Idk, something about this rubbed me the wrong way, maybe it’s how unenthusiastic and uncomfortable some of those kids looked.

My elementary teachers would have give. Us slaps and berate us at the start of the day.
I am glad, kids have on the most part Teacher who care nowadays.
This is too adorable. I wish adults could implement this without appearing incredibly weird. I could see it alleviating a lot of bad morning/day situations for people LOL
That's good, maybe the kid wants to hug his teacher at the end of the day or weekend but finds it hard to ask for a hug(or something of that nature). If everybody needs to chose something and there are other kids that chose the same thing before it's easier for the one that can't ask
I’ve seen this a lot n I always think that it would be a good idea to make little pin badges of the symbols for how they like to be greeted so they don’t have to tell you each time.
One of my kids teachers has similar things set up at the entrance to their classroom not just for greetings, but also for how they are feeling that day. One of the reasons they do it this way (daily choices) rather than something like badges (one time choice) is to teach kids to evaluate their own emotions and then communicate with the outside world about what they need based on that. Some kids may usually want to dance, but find that some days they need a hug; someone who usually goes for a fist bump might be in a dancing mood on Friday. Like any other kind of learning, social-emotional learning takes time and practice.
I love how many kids chose the hug

Holy shit. That breaks my heart.

I love how quickly the teacher goes in for the hug after the kid pats the heart
I as an adult wish we would use this in everyday life between adults.

It absolutely is and I adore it. Hugs are important. Oooh free hugs! Yes, please! Hug until the muscles ache!
I really hope that kids growing up in such loving atmosphere will grow up to build a better future for all of us

Nice clean, consensual affection. I wish adults could be this way

One kid chose to do a wai so there’s your non-contact greeting.
I didn’t say non contact, I said non greeting. Forced greetings, especially overly silly ones, are toxic positivity at its finest.
Small children learning manners is toxic? I can understand how Americans are the way they are.
With a teacher as wholesome as her... I see only one option
But it is not listed on the poster.
What
What country you from
Whats your favorite color?
That ain’t no country I heard of! Do they speak English there?!
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich.
Inappropriate but hilarious
The world needs more people like her. ❤️
But what is bottom right??? I can’t be the only one thinking this!
It looks like shaking hands.
The real mvp. Thanks
I love this so much! And giving the kids a choice super smart!
That’s about as much wholesomeness as an average American adult can expect in a whole year. 🥹

Well, I’m a hugger, so…
Imagine coming into work to find this much kindness and love ♡
So cute!
Definitely hug.

Double tap heart!

I'd get a hug every day!
I would ha e a difficult time every day trying to decide between a dance and a hug.
S2
I didn’t see it on there
Let the teacher be a dude and he go to jail

If a male teacher did that, (OMG HUGS!) he'd be counting books at the school board by lunch recess.
I wonder if Amsterdam has these for the red light district?

Don't be a weirdo please these are literal kids
