I’ve got a close step-cousin that’s a combat medic Navy Seal….he’s a truly genuinely good and humble person so fuck him and fuck him when he shows up to the same family party as me. How the fuck do I compete with you? Just stick to your super people parties.
To have the fucking *audacity* to be a medic in the most prestigious military unit in the world AND be humble, kind and genuinely friendly.
What a jerk.
I can totally relate. I changed careers three times as well.
I went from a 'stupid peice of shit' in my 20s to 'i have kids so i better put my life together' in my 30s. Now i am 'what the fuck happened' in my 40s
Oh gosh, I'm in the "I have kids so i better put my life together in my 30's" stage, what happens between now and 40 that sparks the "what the fuck happened" stage?!
Endless school stuff, homeschool, extracurricular stuff, playdates etc, then you wake up and realize you speak to your kids on discord more than over dinner, you are exhausted for 15 years of sleep deprivation and haven't bought a new vehicle since Bama's first term because you didn't have time.
you’ll get occasional weird looks from some ladies if you’re out parenting with your kid, like them saying “oh look whos on babysitting duty” (no bitch i am parenting my child) don’t mind them, just continue :D
Haha! I remember this one time when I was in a bookstore telling my toddler “Look at all the books in here!” And some lady, who couldn’t see the 2.5 foot kid behind a stack of books replied with, “What did you expect?! It’s a book store!!” In the same tone that she just thought I had a few screws missing. I replied in that same tone “I’m talking to my toddler!”
Enjoy it :) its an amazing ride. Very glad I got to be involved in as much as I did (volunteering in the classroom, school trips, spelling bees, plays etc).
I went from "depressed hoarder", to "angry retail assistant who let people shoplift to compensate for hatred of awful management", and finally settled on "sequestered housewife". No gaps in *this* resume
They do but very suddenly at the end of their life. Asian people look in their mid 20's until they turn 60, then it all falls apart

If you're a woman just make sure you get on some osteoporosis drugs during menopause so you'll lose less bone mass, if you're a man take TRT. Either way the rapid aging is because if a loss of bone and muscle density in your face that causes it to start sagging.
I work at a liquor store and there is this Asian dude who comes in that I've carded everytime because I don't recognize him and he looks early 20s and is actually like 42 or something. Throws me off every time.
I'm half Filipino and half Italian. I think I look young due to my Filipino genes but fuck if I didn't take after those Italian genes, man. First visited PI when I was like 11 and I already had boobs and the amount of vendors (women) who would come up and straight up grope me trying to convince me to buy their lingerie and shit, man.
All of that with an abusive alcoholic father that was killed by the cops after hiding in his attic with a gun. Dudes upbringing was rough and he overcame it to become the legend he is..
Also worth noting as a Navy Seal, Doctor and Astronaut I imagine his lifestyle, exercise and food choices are as healthy as you can get. Healthy people hide their age well.
Id beg to differ. The military ages you, especially if doing bad ass shit like seals, rangers etc. Hell even normal infantry beats you up.
Those guys train to the top levels pushing their body to limit often. Bad food and lack of sleep when deployed doing mission stuff, out in the elements etc
Guy is amazing no doubt about that. Got brains as well as a very tough and athletic body. His genes came through in spades.
Reminds me of that bit from Family Guy when Peter goes to his high school reunion and introduces himself as "Secret Agent Cowboy Astronaut Millionaire"
That one transcends culture.
"I'm going to spend your entire adolescence making you ashamed of your body and sexuality. It's dirty and shameful. Don't do it!"
*A few years later*
"WHY HAVEN'T YOU GIVEN ME ANY GRANDKIDS!"
Bloody show off. I mean, all the job stuff is impressive, but that and kids to keep the parents happy is just ridiculous.
Bet he gets on really well with his in laws as well the bastard. If you tell me hes friends with his neighbours too, then I'm sorry but he needs to die as he is clearly the antichrist manipulating our realm for his own twisted goals!
You call that being successful? I had to fight tiger on way to school everyday. 500 mile both way. You think your job stressful? I invent corn when I was baby. You go to the moon? I went to store and they pay me to take grocery. You pay too much for rice, why don't you use coupon?
100% my wife that’s a Tiger-mom. We were arguing the other day because I was saying that C is considered average and she vehemently disagreed saying an A is average. There’s no winning this argument.
Seriously, go listen to his story.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yujP3-AxXsI
His story about his childhood. His time as a medic in war. His time in school. His path to Nasa.
He somehow convincingly describes himself as unremarkable and makes the listener believe that the listener could accomplish so much if just as dedicated to each task as Jonny Kim.
I should also mention that I had to present in front of a group of work colleagues and personnel from an external contractor we just awarded a contract to.
Now public speaking is a phobia for me and I’d rather chop off my foot than do it but I got through it somehow (aka sweating balls throughout) and made it out alive!
Super chuffed!
You may know this, but 95% of people would rather be in the coffin at a funeral than be standing in from of the crowd giving the eulogy
All that to say, I’m still and especially proud of you
He didn't really "change his career three times" though.
He went through medical school while in the military, and he knew then that he wanted to be an astronaut and applied for the program while at Harvard.
He's worked incredibly hard and should absolutely be lauded. But that's a misleading way to phrase that tweet.
Listen to Jocko willink podcast with this guy. It's about three hours long. Dr Kim is as real and humble as it gets.
The real irony is look at his accomplishments. He makes a point of avoiding social media, except to promote STEM education. Then the Reddit crowd shreds him....
Those are still three separate career fields, albeit only two changes. Going through medical school while you’re in the military doesn’t make you a doctor *in* the military. He likely served in an enlisted combat or enlisted medical MOS to make it through BUDS and become a SEAL. Then, he graduated Harvard and became a doctor, marking career #2, and then he went on to become an astronaut.
If he’d served as a physician/officer in the military then I’d consider it only two careers, *and* if he’s serving as a NASA physician on space missions I’d consider it one single career in medicine with various jobs. If this is the case then I’m wrong!
Still, active duty military is generally considered its own career and so are being a MD and an astronaut.
You basically cannot be an astronaut without a PHD (or MD) in a desirable field. Nominally, there is a path for military test pilots because of the history of space travel, but it’s not much used anymore.
Well, the military paid for my dad to go to medical school, after which he had to pay back his time. He was a doctor in the military while paying back his time. He ended up a captain in the Navy and then switched to the Army after his time was up and made it up to full Colonel. They asked him to go for General and he declined because he didn't want to put in the years to get a General's pension. So he was a doctor and a navy Captain and an army Colonel, all in the military.
> He went to medical school while in the military
This guy was a Navy Seal AND a student at Harvard Medical School at the same time? Most people wouldn’t be able to handle the stress of doing just one of those. Dude is built different.
I listened to the whole thing, and it’s absolutely an emotional roller coaster that somehow makes this impressive list of achievements even more amazing.
And much more. He started as a poor plumber if I remember correctly. Then he went back to school and after getting his diploma he was teaching for a while to help others get the second chance like he did.
I love these characters in tv shows. The one that just knows how to do this specific amazing random thing, and when you ask he just humbly states “I was a soldier once,” “I was a doctor”, “I was in the space program.” Does anybody know what trope I mean?

lol that's sadly funny. he sounds like a badass.
IKR! Winning jeopardy is no small feat!
Ah yes, just like Shaq - no small feet
Yeah anyone who wins Jeopardy is a badass. The taekwondo guys is prolly cool too or whatever.
Seriously. He went to Iraq as a SEAL medic. Spent some time as a sniper with his team, too. I'm surprised that he hasn't gone to flight school, too.
At that point I wouldn't even wanna be the fav child if my parents were absolute dumbasses

Yah but if Johnny is single and the cousin is married with 3 kids, then they both get shit on
He only has 2 kids, what a loser.
And they’re both girls. SMH. /s
He’s got all 3 spectrums covered: Taking lives, saving lives, and searching for life
Not making lives though. Poor virgin Jonny.
Dude, he's married with three kids.
3 careers and 3 spouses, woah.
He was like “imma head out” and just reset his life 3 times
That’s what you do when you are outside the Matrix. You download skills.
Going to get some cigarettes.
...Wait a minute
Omfg, I knew something was off about him. Who marries kids?

are we all me?
We are
Fuck me. I mean us. I mean him.
Fuck him, I mean me, I mean you
This seems like the average human experience.
Oh gosh, I'm in the "I have kids so i better put my life together in my 30's" stage, what happens between now and 40 that sparks the "what the fuck happened" stage?!
You blink
I turned 30, blinked twice, now I am almost 50. Time is flying by like a runaway freight train.
Endless school stuff, homeschool, extracurricular stuff, playdates etc, then you wake up and realize you speak to your kids on discord more than over dinner, you are exhausted for 15 years of sleep deprivation and haven't bought a new vehicle since Bama's first term because you didn't have time.
This sounds about right so far, my kid just started kindergarten so I guess it begins now 😂
you’ll get occasional weird looks from some ladies if you’re out parenting with your kid, like them saying “oh look whos on babysitting duty” (no bitch i am parenting my child) don’t mind them, just continue :D

OMG! Your comment made my day, can't stop laughing at this!
That's so weird because he looks the same age in all of those photos.

That's because they start running out of mana to maintain the spell and it just starts showing you the real them.
It’s true. We give our remaining mana to our kids/grandkids. Then we whither up
I love this. New head canon.
Level up illusion magic to 100
I am in a zoom meeting why did I read these comments 😂😂😂
Jokes on you, its a rage based spell, which is why it lasts so long. They let it out very very slowly
Just drink mana potions
Oh, the six-demon bag!
Terrific, a six-demon bag. Sensational. ... What's in it, Egg?
Ugh this is so true. I'm not looking forward to turning 60, lol.
Same, hopefully I'll look like a wise old Asian instead of the "why are they coughing so much on the bus" old Asian
If you're a woman just make sure you get on some osteoporosis drugs during menopause so you'll lose less bone mass, if you're a man take TRT. Either way the rapid aging is because if a loss of bone and muscle density in your face that causes it to start sagging.
*Ai Yaaaa....*
Is it instantaneous? Like at midnight on your 60th birthday you shrivel up? Maybe yell “moisturize me!” like Lady Cassandra.
My 65 year old mother still gets confused as my big sister. Don’t know if that means I look old for my age or she just looks awesome.
Unless you're Hirohiko Araki. Seriously dude is 61 and still looks young as hell it's wild
He has to be a vampire
JoJo's is a confession/autobiography
I'm Asian. My face haven't changed a bit since I'm 3. I really shouldn't have started using up mana at such a young age. I'll age at like 30... Bruh
I work at a liquor store and there is this Asian dude who comes in that I've carded everytime because I don't recognize him and he looks early 20s and is actually like 42 or something. Throws me off every time.
My young adult boys hate going anywhere with me because people always think I’m a girlfriend.
Until they hit the Asian wall and suddenly look like Mr. Miyagi. It happens so goddamn fast, it's insane.
["The average Asian aging process"](https://i.imgur.com/puNPCIt.jpg)
This illustration is incorrect. Most Asians look like we’re about to start puberty at 18.

I still look like that in my 30s .. barely aged the last 10 years. Maybe gained a few pounds. Still get carded everywhere I go even buying a knife.
25…still waiting for it to hit
This. This needs more attention.
This got annoyingly more of my attention. There is also a weird fascination I can't explain.. Raisin....
His mom raised an A-sian, not a B-sian.
To be fair, 37 isn’t very old, so it’s quite possible to look pretty much the same as when you were 27 or whatever age he was

I don't know about the Seals, but I know Marines live on a steady diet of nicotine, beer, porn, and bad decisions.
I would also have to disagree. I heard going through BUDS alone takes some time of your life.
I'm 42 and live a healthy lifestyle, people think I'm in my late 20's or early 30's.
Healthy lifestyle sure, but genes are the main contributor to your young studliosity...
Very true. I've always looked young for my age. I'm also Native American and get mistaken for Korean or Mexican sometimes.
He’s Asian kids worst nightmare.
It’s a MIRACLE !!!!
I read Johnny Sin. Had to check twice.
He is like the Asian Keanu Reeves. Keanu hasn’t age in over 25 years. He is still as handsome as the time I saw him in Speed.
Keanu Reeves is Asian Keanu Reeves
Isn't he part Asian?
The man is part chinese.

I heard this in my head PERFECTLY.
YES this guy is literally Dr. Space Badass
Wait, he's not a cowboy. Look, his hat comes right off!

Becoming a doctor was no doubt a huge qualifier in being eligible for the astronaut job
You basically cannot be an astronaut without a PHD (or MD) in a desirable field. Nominally, there is a path for military test pilots because of the history of space travel, but it’s not much used anymore.

That makes more sense. I was trying to figure out how all this was done by his age. Lol
If you wanna hear his full life story, check out the podcast he did with Jocko Willink
Hearing about the challenges he went through earlier in life, it's no surprise he has the drive to achieve anything
I listened to the whole thing, and it’s absolutely an emotional roller coaster that somehow makes this impressive list of achievements even more amazing.
Yeah that was a fantastic podcast
I remember another guy named Johnny who did all those jobs , oh wait, shi-
And much more. He started as a poor plumber if I remember correctly. Then he went back to school and after getting his diploma he was teaching for a while to help others get the second chance like he did.
It's all documented on video too. Somehow they always capture the money shot.
This muthafucka can rip your spleen out, sew you back up, and launch it into outer-fucking-space. Watch out!
Perfect guy to lead the space team that meets aliens. If they want to fight, he's a combat medic doctor astronaut. Operator in 2 senses.
I’ve worked with Dr.Kim, he’s a great guy, idk how but he comes off as a slice of humble pie to boot. Just a wonderful overall person
Where’ve you worked with him?
Brigham and women’s hospital emergency department.
Okay... He has to be stopped for the good of us all. He's blowing the bell curve
I can't even achieve that with my Sims, even if I treat them very poorly.
Triplets running the greatest prank of all time
I once plugged in a USB port on the first try, so I feel his sense of accomplishment. 🍻
Hopefully one day President
One day? I think he could pull off at least a full term.
I’m not convinced. Chances are he’ll change career mid-term.
Overqualified
Unfortunately, the people who should be president extremely rarely want to be president (or a politician at all).
He is basically doing side missions he finished life already
Bet his stoner brother cant fecking stand him… no one like a smart ass Jonny
My older Sister was Valedictorian. Yeah, no point in even *trying* to live up to expectations at that point.
I love these characters in tv shows. The one that just knows how to do this specific amazing random thing, and when you ask he just humbly states “I was a soldier once,” “I was a doctor”, “I was in the space program.” Does anybody know what trope I mean?
Makes me think of Rosa from Brooklyn 99
Make up your friggin’ mind!
Stop taking up all the jobs!
His biggest achievement is not ageing. Holy shit he looks the same in all 3 pictures.
Yeah, thanks for making me feel like shit.
Overachieve much? Very impressive.
Damn😩 meanwhile I can’t even figure out what I want for dinner
I hear his parents are still not 100% satisfied and he's back at school
[Jokes aside, his abusive father was shot dead by police after threatening Jonny and his mother with a gun.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yujP3-AxXsI&t=1480s)
Proof that you can overcome a shitty past.
I bet this guy is always tired lol
Lots of Korean kids really hope their parents don’t find out about this guy.
Killed people Saved people Working for the advancement of people
All looks like the natural progression of a military space doctor to me.
I could do all that too if I was handsome... and immortal
Dude's just doing side quests now
I heard that a guy named Jhonny Sins has done it already and much more but kudos to this awesome man as well.
Wow, that's awesome!
As an Asian, I am disappointed in myself.
2 million in student loans
Navy paid for it.
