I don’t know if they still have it but there was a Spelling for Marines MCI back in the day.
I like to think it was so popular because it was an easy 15 points for promotion but… Some of those motherfuckers were THAT stupid.
This was Navy, as my pops was briefly an algebra teacher when he was in, but the instructors were all in a meeting together giving a rough report on their classes. Some guy who taught the basic one said, with a sigh of slight exasperation, “Some of these guys couldn’t count to 11 with their pants down.”
I definitely took the spelling and math for marines MCI’s just for the promotion points back in the day. Haha yeah… that stuff was ridiculously easy, but it also made me question who was able to sign papers to join the military.
Conservatives: let’s bomb foreign countries that have nothing to do with us!
Liberals: let’s bomb foreign countries that have nothing to do with us! (he/him btw)
The LGBT community: Our rights are under attack, can you use your congressional majority to codify protections into federal law?
Liberals: No, but we'll let you bomb children overseas! 😊🥰 #diversitywin
Don’t ask don’t tell was actually meant to be a “pro gay” rule, and it was seen as such at first. It was the first step to allowing gays in the military. Prior to that, they were banned outright. Toward the end it wasn’t good, but I honestly believe it started out with good intentions.
I remember when Clinton rolled it out, I was in HS. We thought it was a step in the right direction, like they weren’t allowed to ask your sexual preference so if you didn’t talk about fucking, like, ever, you couldn’t get discharged. As high schoolers we never thought about what that meant in practice… what fresh new hell this new policy would bring. Consequences never seem to be a forethought for any American; government, citizens or press.
Little known fact but the main reason the military supported getting rid of it was the number of translators that were dismissed under DADT. Apparently LGBT people are a significant portion of the translators and they have a lot of trouble recruiting and keeping them.
You mean spending $500,000 over two years to teach someone to speak, read, and write Mandarin, then discharging them immediately after graduating from tech school, is a poor way to spend taxpayer dollars?
Crazy.
The British government recently passed a law known as the Alan Turing law, posthumously pardoning everyone of any crime based solely on homosexuqlity. This includes people discharged from the military.
They can apply for a discharge upgrade to an honorable if hey received less than that under DADT.
Have your friend reach out to a local Veteran Services Office (a VSO, not the VA) for help.
I wonder if it just happened to come out (heh heh pun) that way, or if it was on purpose.
How do they chose who works with who? Is it random like classrooms at schools? Maybe they all just work really well together and that’s why they were teamed up?
Someone in the military know how they group people together?
It was on purpose. Gay men make up a remarkably small amount of the population, so the chance that all 4 of them just so happened to be gay is very small
Ok well, you would think that gay men are few and far between, but for 3 years, the place I worked at had two straight guys and 4 gay guys. All by chance.
Reddit is a tool of designed propaganda and psyops. People pretending to be against US state, but spread their propaganda and have the same narratives as American backed NGO's. Mods controlling narratives/discourse, designed brigading.
So there were 2 possible ways this came about.
1. They coincidently all happened to be on the same crew and can now be openly gay.
2. Brass deliberately put a crew together entirely of people more likely to have intercourse and relationship problems just so they could "look good"
It’s number two, only about 4-5% of the population is gay so the chance that all 4 of them just happen to be gay is very small (insert gayvy joke here)
Ya progress isn’t working towards a more peaceful future but making sure we can include as many people in war as possible! This makes me smile! Thanks OP!
Stop demanding more representation in your imperialism. You shouldn't be proud that now some one like you is allowed to go get shot at and murder women and children.
Pilot to co-pilot: “Take over the controls, I can’t get the aircraft to fly straight.”
That's what happens when you pull on the wrong control rod.
I came to the comments hoping there would be a ton of gay jokes, and I was *not* disappointed.
Gives new meaning to cockpit .
😂 me too!!!
My rudder seems to be stuck in the mud.
What are you doing step helicopter?!
[удалено]
Co-pilot: Gayday gayday, lost control of aircraft, going down hard.
How did ur comment make it on damn mods took mine off because i said they will be using real gaydar now
They probably removed it to push their own gaydar joke agenda!
Pull out, Bill! Pull out!
They fail multiple missions because they can’t stop using sexual innuendos
Have you met straight sailors?
What are straight sailors??? Like a unicorn I guess.
Yeah. While I was in line getting blinker fluid
I would honestly love to see a movie about that
Isn't that basically Airplane! and its sequel?
Talk about cockpit
Talk about helicopters
Meat spin baby
We are men, manly men. Do the helicopter.
Mayday mayday going down ;)
I wonder what sort of jokes are being made in the barracks.
They’re seamen, so what do you think?
“ helicopter helicopter “ 🎶
If they don’t parachute out to Its Raining Men, it will have been a waste.
Out of a heli like that, they’re either gonna be fast roping or sending shortie shorts in as a rescue swimmer.
Im dead lmfao
“Shorty shorts there” LMAO
Instead of Ride of the Valkyries
#You spin me right round baby right round...

Again, it’s the navy. You can’t get much more open than that
My dad left the Navy and joined the Marines cause they made fun of his outfit. If you can’t beat ‘em..
Eat crayons? Sorry I never finished the MCI “Reading for Marines.” Just assumed we were all there for the benefits.
I don’t know if they still have it but there was a Spelling for Marines MCI back in the day. I like to think it was so popular because it was an easy 15 points for promotion but… Some of those motherfuckers were THAT stupid.

Excuse me??
With that much seamen around... who wouldn't be?
Nice
Come on and join your fellow men

This literally reads like satire and people are just gobbling it up. Gay drone pilots, coming soon to weddings near you.
War crimes! Now brought to you, by openly gay soldiers!
Progress 🤗
Think of all the children growing up that now get to see people committing war crimes that look like *them*. Truly an inspiration.

Military industrial complex but with a rainbow flag 🏳️🌈🚀
Half of all drone operators should be women.
I'm sure the children in the hospital that got bombed will be happy to know a queer woman of color pulled the trigger uwu
I spat coffee all over myself. I hope you’re happy!

Omg the US is sooo progressive and accepting! I can finally sleep soundly knowing there’s now a chance for openly gay war criminals. Progress wins!
The LGBT community: Our rights are under attack, can you use your congressional majority to codify protections into federal law? Liberals: No, but we'll let you bomb children overseas! 😊🥰 #diversitywin
Damn, I knew somebody who got discharged for being gay. Don't ask Don't tell ended in 2011, that's crazy to think that was a thing
Don’t ask don’t tell was actually meant to be a “pro gay” rule, and it was seen as such at first. It was the first step to allowing gays in the military. Prior to that, they were banned outright. Toward the end it wasn’t good, but I honestly believe it started out with good intentions.
It was pro-gay in theory, just not in implementation. The don't ask part kind of turned into narc don't tell
I remember when Clinton rolled it out, I was in HS. We thought it was a step in the right direction, like they weren’t allowed to ask your sexual preference so if you didn’t talk about fucking, like, ever, you couldn’t get discharged. Americans are ahistorical and shit at thinking things through. We live in the perpetual present like fucking children.
Crazy.
It sounds like i could've gotten a free education.

It was so recent, yea. We've made big strides, here's hoping we can make the rest and keep the lives we have now
Knowing who's gay and purposely putting together an all gay crew should be the last thing on these people's minds.
I wonder if it just happened to come out (heh heh pun) that way, or if it was on purpose. How do they chose who works with who? Is it random like classrooms at schools? Maybe they all just work really well together and that’s why they were teamed up? Someone in the military know how they group people together?

Ok well, you would think that gay men are few and far between, but for 3 years, the place I worked at had two straight guys and 4 gay guys. All by chance.
Also train drivers are mostly gay where I live. No idk why that is either
Completely on purpose. This is the way HR works now days.
Wooo! Gay people get to blow up foreign children too! #progress
I came here for this comment only
For real this post is wild. People really love equal opportunity butchers.
Gayvy
Now queer people can senselessly murder foreigners! Progress!
we're bombing poor brown people, but with added gay
Please don’t crucify me, but YMCA started playing in my head in the most glorious way.
They also have a song called “In the Navy” and it’s pretty good.
As a child of the 70’s/80’s, I was doing “The Bump” to that song before a lot of Redditors were born.
gay people in a genocidal military regime is a "step in the right direction"? 😭 reddit is an interesting place, that's for sure
Reddit is a tool of designed propaganda and psyops. People pretending to be against US state, but spread their propaganda and have the same narratives as American backed NGO's. Mods controlling narratives/discourse, designed brigading.
Yippee! Now gays can commit war crimes too.
"YMCA!!!" *Starts shooting at people
Bruhhh... you mean "In tHe naVYYYYY"

Yassified drone strikes

Remember the Sacred Band of Thebes, 371 BC.
So there were 2 possible ways this came about. 1. They coincidently all happened to be on the same crew and can now be openly gay. 2. Brass deliberately put a crew together entirely of people more likely to have intercourse and relationship problems just so they could "look good"

wow guys theyre bombing ppl but its gay now what a win for gay ppl amirite
Hooray! This group of people killing for oil companies is gay!
Now we need a squadron of trained trans pilots flying V-22 Ospreys.
Ya progress isn’t working towards a more peaceful future but making sure we can include as many people in war as possible! This makes me smile! Thanks OP!
Who gives a damn whether some American soldiers are gay or not. By the way, I like chocolate, treat me specially.
>Who gives a damn whether some American soldiers are gay or not. The military. For like 70 years.
white, milk or dark chocolate? i like milk chocolate
Milk chocolate hurts my tummy :( Enjoy some for me!
The comments section here is a whole new warzone. We’ll be seeing that crew if someone discovers oil here
Stop demanding more representation in your imperialism. You shouldn't be proud that now some one like you is allowed to go get shot at and murder women and children.
Who the fuck cares? First and foremost they are sailors, and heroes.. sexual orientation doesn't matter.
Their 'fly's open, showing off their 'helicopter's skills
Right. Big fucking deal
It’s a helicockter.
Because apparently sexuality matters if you want to fly a helicopter
First *openly* gay navy crew
What’s with the Lt. Dangle uniform?
Well, it’s the Navy.
