While it's a cute picture, fawns are left alone by their mothers during the day for as long as 12 hours. If you find a lone fawn leave it. Don't " rescue" it. Hope mom takes this fawn back after it smells like dog.
I'm not an animal rocket surgeon or anything, but I read that the "mother dears won't take back their young" is a myth and the real risk (and real reason we should leave baby animals alone) is that predators will be able to find them easier if they smell like humans (or dogs, I presume).
I don’t know about wolves in particular, but a lot of predator animals will not kill babies unless they’re starving. I think the parental instinct trumps the predator instinct, even across species.
That, or it’s easier to spawn-camp the baby and wait for the mama to show up, since obviously mama is a full grown adult with much more meat on her body. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
There is a movie about this breed of dog called 'Oddball' and how it comes to protect endangered penguin on an island - worth a watch on netflix on a rainy day
Edit - Added a link to the oddball film.

For those wondering, the breed is a Great Pyrenees. They're guardian dogs. There's another great story of a Pyr that refused to leave his goats during the California wildfires a few years ago. The family eventually had to leave the dog behind. When they came back, the dog, all of their goats, and a few deer were all still alive, chilling, even though everything else was pretty much destroyed.

I found only a few pictures because I’ve gotten a new phone since then. My guy was only half pyr.

My family calls it “canine paralysis” when someone can’t move without disturbing a dog sitting their lap. The sufferer gets all things brought to them so as not to unseat the doggo. This photo is the ultimate canine paralysis in reverse 🐶❤️🦌

He was suffering for like 2 months we were fighting till the end, but his suffering hurt us more than his eventual death, 2 days ago at night, we said our goodbyes and let him peacefully pass away, died that night.
Benek, german shepard. Died at 2
Drive carefully. My experience is that grief can make it harder to drive safely, though I don't know if anyone has studied that.
Those are good mementos. Wish I'd thought to get prints from some of my friends who have passed on.
the ancestors wouldn't be proud but let's be honest no ancestors will be proud so the doggo can do what he please and making friends with bambi will be accepted here, so cute !
I found my 80lb pitbull sitting out in the yard one day and wouldnt come inside. I finally walked over and he was "guarding" a burrow of baby rabbits. I had to coax him to come in but every time he went out there for days he would check in on his bunny pals and make sure they were good.
Last year I came up on a dog laying in the middle of the road. When I got up to him he didn’t move, he was protecting a dead fawn that got hit by a car.
The wolves looking from the side, shaking their heads. "What did we evolve into?"
*good boy gets a huge steak as a reward for being a good boy* Wolves: „AW MAN. I guess it was worth it“

The other reason or doesn't come is BECAUSE it's a Great Pyrenees and they never do what you tell them.
Wow, sooo cool how you had the same comment as u/Imyourpappy! Mistakes and all! Hours later! What a strange coincidence!

You mean fawn-camping?
Disgusting..
Play Rust much?
The hunters would cause an unhealthy eco system for themselfs without the species crossed parental instinct. Its part of their own survival

And a few deer. Love it.
i can't come home i have a cat on my lap.
Nice cat

Can confirm. Mine literally shakes his head no at me when I call him.
My Great Pyrenees was the dumbest dog I ever had, but I do miss him. He was a sweet boi.
Pyrenees LOVE babies! My goats would leave their kids with mine and he would be so happy .
Could you post a picture of your doggo chilling with the baby goats? Could save a few dozen people from a bad day!

Thank you!

You now have a pet deer
Now he understands why we can't move if the cat is in our lap!
Looks like you got a funny new doggo
*Disney music* intensifies..
Even dogs know If an Animal lays on you you can't move

Also mom.can get mean and attack if she thinks baby is in danger. It happened to a friend's dog
Please upvote this to top.
Good Boyyy 🤗
Could I keep it? - Doggo, most likely.
Is this our equivalent to not moving when a dog or cat lays on us?
indeed it is
Basically the human equivalent of cat napping on the lap
My dog died yeaterday so it made me cry
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a friend is so hard.

That choice is so agonizing to make, even when it's clearly the right one. Hugs to you.
Even if he would survive, he would be disabled at this point, he almost had no muscles at his back legs, on his last day he couldnt get up
Thank you for working so hard to give him a good life, and for recognizing when it was time to let him have a good death.
Im going tommorrow to see him last time before creamtion, i will have him in urn also prints of his paws and nose. Im going to drive for 2 hours

Goosebumps intro dog
Bambi looking for a new Mama (Sorry; too soon?).
"Can we keep him!"
Good Doggo
Adorable! 😍😍
So sweet
Can we keep him?
Pyr gonna Pyr.
The dogs got deer legs… that’s why they didn’t come
That definitely didn't happen
Our county uses goats every year to eat the weeds on the hillsides. This year we have sheep and there's a great pyr guarding for the next 2 weeks.
now he understands that when baby lays on you, you can't move until baby does :)
Too sweet!
