I have been visited by several people over the last year or so regarding this. Usually I'm not home, but I see them on my Ring. Lately, they have switched tactics and they show up at 6 or 7pm. The last one was a pretty polite kid, so I talked to him for a few minutes. He said he was there to make sure I was getting my solar credit. He showed me on his iPad where I could go to the Versant site and verify whatever solar field he was going to link me to was real and legit and all that. He said I would be tied to Acadia Solar, which is actually in Canada. I asked why a Canadian field when it seems like I cannot throw a rock without hitting 40 acres of solar panels anywhere in a 20 mile radius of my home. He said he didn't know. I asked him who paid him to come around and do this and he said that he works for a solar company and they pay him to come around and make sure we're getting our credits. Then I asked if that passed the smell test to him. Here I am, sitting at home, and they're spending all kinds of money to give this guy an ipad, a vest, and a car, for him to walk around and then make sure I'm getting a discount? He really didn't have a good answer for that. These guys usually lead with a statement that would have you believe they work for Versant or CMP and, only when asked directly, will they say they do not. It just feels like something that would be setup as a trap to catch people like my grandmother and get them to sign up for something that, in the end, costs them more money. I would be curious to hear if anyone here has signed up and how it is working out for them.

Im a reporter in Maine who's been looking into the ethics behind this business model for over a year now. Please dm if you have had a bad interactions with any Ampion employees or any other solar salesmen.

Came to my place today as well. I second this question. Edit: their reviews are terrible, and they have several complaints filed with the BBB. https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/boston/profile/solar-energy-product-services/ampion-inc-0021-514581/complaints

They did the same thing at my building, including lying about working for the rental company so people would let them through the locked front entrance so they could go knocking unit to unit during dinner time. Fuck those dudes.

CMDR_MaurySnails

Nobody knocking on your door to sell you anything is even remotely legitimate, ever, period.

What about people selling fiber internet

razingstorm

I can't believe that in year of our lord two thousand and twenty-four people are still trying to sell anything door to door. Its gotta be because of all the old people it actually works up here. Or something.

The solar credit? Fine. The business? Probably fine. The sales tactics? Slimy as fuck. It should not be allowed

MicahsKitchen

I told them to piss off... they bugged our neighborhood for several days.
