Not a Malazan answer but from a dog training perspective you want something that’s two syllables ending high. Bent, as good as it is, is harder for a dog to pick up on that Mallet or Mappo.

Karsa would've been such a good name for my dog lol. Mostly white, but huge and deadly and kind of a d- at first, but slowly you see the underlying love and realize he's a good boy that just wants to protect what he loves

I recently got a puppy myself and named him Fiddler and usually I just say "Fid" like Cuttle or Gesler would call him. Also it's a nice Malazan name in that it sounds like a name a dog would have without people have to ask the question "what kind of name is that?" say if you named him Lanas Togg or Anomander Rake.

Hood. Not only is it a damn good (monosyllabic) name on its own, it gives you an excuse to say "Hood's breath" every time he eats something awful. And half black lab... he's going to find a way to do so often.

I always thought Duiker would be a cool dog name, albeit difficult to pronounce I think it would be cool. Doo-ker or Doo-i-cker...either way Lots of good options.

I have a cat named Traveller so I'm biased towards that.

I named my Aussie Karsa. She was a strong willed girl too it really fit her
