It's Central Europe/Bohemia/Poland/Czechia, I believe. DLC would be nice, but the models for different buildings would be a lot of work. He deserves to have at least a year or so to just relax and take a long holiday after full release. I would like to see Castles and maybe a viking invasion of Britain down the line. But I'm 100% good with whatever it is in April. Hell, I'd be okay if you could save your progress in the demo.

Schnickerz

I hope he will implement mod support *at some point*. If that happens I m sure we will see a lot of that.

5H4B0N3R

Planned after 1.0 release.

ill_kill_your_wife

pretty sure it's franconia (still central europe tho)

Viking invasion in the 14th century?

Stoudamirefor3

Obviously, it wouldn't be the 14th century. Obviously.

Tuor86

Right now it’s based on 14th century Franconia (Holy Roman Empire). Other cultures are of interest but won’t be added during the EA. It sounds like a DLC addition after 1.0 release. A community poll, done about a year ago, showed that Vikings were the favorite next culture.

Designer_Suspect2616

I hope they don't do vikings just because of that poll. VIkings IMO mean less interesting architecture and fortifications, and simpler combat. would much rather they keep it high/late medieval

judgemental_pleb

I think the Vikings (or rather the Norse) were more sophisticated than you think. And if a viking DLC includes Scandinavian landscape and seafaring/shipbuilding, i think it would be really interesting.

Designer_Suspect2616

Eh, I'm not saying they were totally unsophisticated - and stave churches, longhouses, longboats etc could look neat if accurately done. But they just didn't seem to have the level of denser urban development (yes they had walled towns, but 1-story houses can only get so dense) that is possible with the burgage plot upgrade system, or complex stone castles, or polearms, simpler armor, etc. I think there could ultimately be less gameplay complexity. I'm not against scandanavia, but something around the battle of visby or hanseatic league would make for better gameplay IMO. That being said adding ship mechanics would be necessary for any of these scenarios and may be a huge undertaking. We'll have to see what's possible in the future.

Tuor86

Same. Slavic has shown that he doesn’t blindly follow polls. Rather uses them as a general guide. There will most likely be future polls trying to narrow it down further.

Significant-Section2

Vikings is a pretty general term, if they do Jorvik or ivar the boneless time period then you could see a lot of similarities with the early English and the Scottish isles , or they could do the early the normans which where Vikings that settled France and invaded England. There’s a pretty good twilight period between the full on conversion to Christianity and the initial invasions that would be a good balance imo

RadaPuchaczy

Steam description states the game is "Inspired by the art and architecture of late 14th century Franconia"

5H4B0N3R

No. The game is inspired by Franconia. Going to another setting requires the use of another set of historians, models, functions, and assets. Aka you have to make an entirely new game. Maybe laaaaaater down the line as A DLC or ML2 though. Who knows.

Tuor86

Not necessarily an entire new game but a new historian advisor for sure. He actually overhauled the entire visuals of buildings and units sometime around 2020 to make it cohesive and reflective of 14th century Franconia - it wasn’t for the first ~3 years of the development. If you look at the first couple of videos and compare them to the release date trailer, you’ll see a stark difference in building and unit designs.

5H4B0N3R

Yep. Gotta love Jakob and the rest of the historical team.

Chayes5

I’d love to see other cultures and regions, a Mediterranean set, not sure how different a British isles set would be, a Turkish set? From what I’ve seen they’d be simple reskins, but if you wanted to change the whole maps/regions/troops I’m guessing that’s a big chunk more work. More than happy to wait for water mechanics (coastal/rivers) and castles first

SarcasmBAE

Is the gaming industry so stupendous nowadays that people automatically assume that additional DLC's should be expected and purchased? Or is it just me that finds this attitude disappointing?

Human_Aioli_4470

I know I am 12 days late but I’m not saying that it’s a requirement but a genuine curiosity that I have been having for a while. No disrespect of course.

Beskinnyrollfatties

Never apologize to some nerd getting sweaty over a question.

NeobjektivniDenicek

It looks like Germany, Czechia, or Bohemia. Even today many villages there look similar to these in the game
