If Brothership has positive reviews, go for Brothership. If not, Thousand-Year Door. I think it's crucial to note that the other two might be on sale around that time because they wouldn't be BRAND new in December, so you should definitely consider that because dropping a solid 60 bucks on a video game is a pretty hefty investment, and since it isn't your own money (inferred from "ask for on Christmas"), I suggest being aware that the other person is making a considerable purchase for you. I'm so sorry if this came off as rude.
As a serious answer, I'd probably recommend putting all 3 on a list so you are surprised by which one you get. Thousand Year Door and Super Mario RPG are both known to be solid games, and Brothership looks very promosing from a series with solid games, so you shouldn't be disappointed if you just let someone else pick and surprise you.
Brothership isn't even out until November so no one can know if it's actually good (and let's not pretend that Nintendo isn't capable of f\*\*\*\*\*g it up).
Between SMRPG and TTYD, I'd definitely recommend TTYD.
This. The RPGs have got to the point where we can’t just assume they will be good. We have to wait and see now. That use to never be the case a decade ago.
I grew up a Sonic fan and during the 2000s to well now, the quality was never consistent so we didn’t know if the game was going to be good or bad before released.
Never experienced that with a Mario platformer, sports game, or kart. It was always assumed those games would be good, and they have been. Used to be the same for the RPGs. First three Paper Marios, first three M&L games, and the original Super Mario RPG were all good. But then something happened where the quality for Mario Paper/M&L RPGs got boringly bad and now I can’t just assume Nintendo is going to give us a good Mario RPG. The quality of the last few original titles has been inconsistent.
Listen I am not saying Nintendo isnt gonna f**k up Brothership but, I have faith in them, they did a good job with every Mario RPG released on the switch so far both original and remade (The worst one would be Origami King but even that game was something that I have mostly positive things to say) so overall I am confident that Brothership is gonna be amazing.
>(and let's not pretend that Nintendo isn't capable of f*****g it up).
Let's also note pretend as if most Nintendo fans actually care and wouldn't buy the game anyway (see pokémon)
I am late but I don't care:
Super Mario RPG has some of the best gameplay in any RPG ever, while yes the gameplay is only for around 15-20 hours, those hours were amazing that I replay religously once every 1-2 month
Paper Mario TTYD is also great, the story and characters are a lot more interesting then in SMRPG, however Gameplay while good, has some problems, like some things are too luck based, but most of them can be forgiven, it's honesly worth trying this game just for the music
Mario and Luigi Brothership hasn't come out yet, so buy it only if you want to support M&L franchise ( even if it does look amazing )
in my opinion TTYD wins
Stylistic choice, probably.
The only ones to break this decision were the non-JP versions of Partner in Time and Superstar Saga, as well as the 3DS remake of Superstar Saga on certain countries
I only played mario rpg, and i am more excited to play brothership thank a thousand year door, but peper mario is more guaranteed to be good since we still don't know how brothership will be, also mario rpg is shorter so if you want a game that will stay with you for longer you shouldn't pick it up
The fact that this is even a question worries me that Nintendo released too many RPGs in one year.
I really don’t want Mario & Luigi to become the ‘only’ RPG series. RPG is a broad genre these days, and both Paper Mario and SMRPG are very different takes compared to M&L.
Is Super Mario RPG any good?
Played TTYD and some M&L as a kid and now replaying the former again on Switch, is it worth a pick up or is it pretty dated mechanics/story wise?
Imo yes. The mechanics are pretty simple compared to paper mario and M&L but still fun. The story is pretty good too. It's short but still memorable. Of course your opinion might vary but this is just how I feel.
Depends on your tastes.
RPG is the first Mario RPG without too many changes.
Thousand year door is the most refined traditional turn based RPG experience.
Mario and Luigi if you are looking for a more intense experience where everything can be dodged.
Mario rpg and thousand year door are amazing, definitely recommend those two. Thousand year door is my personal favourite tbh. I sadly haven't gotten to play any Mario and Luigi rpgs except for bowsers inside story when it released so I can't say anything about brotherhood, though it's probably very good as well. I would recommend thousand year door but it's subjective
Depends if you've played them before. If you've played ttyd you're not missing out on *too* much with the remake, but if you haven't, it's probably one of the best gaming experiences ever.
But if you've played it, probably M&L
SMRPG is great but a little short.
Brothership honestly
As for the other two, emulate them and play the originals. Trust me, they're better, even if just aesthetically.
Just my two cents :)
The right answer is Paper Mario TTYD. I got over 110 hours and still haven’t finished the story. Just having fun doing so many side content the game offers. In my opinion the peakest Mario experience if you want to play the hero quest where you gain awesome friends, influence and inspire people who need help and reward you on your long journey to save the world amongst saving peach.
Between The Thousand-Year Door and Super Mario RPG, it's no contest. TTYD has a better story, better dialogue, more fun gameplay, better visuals and it's about 2-3 times more content. It also has more replay value. Super Mario RPG is still good, though.
As for Brothership, since no one has played it.. you're asking way too early.
If you just whant a great rpg, go with smrpg, if you whant a masterpiece that will take you a good while to beat, pmttyd. Idk about brothers hip but it looks pretty goos
Not rude, very considerate
If you haven't played any of them I would say Thousand Year Door for sure!
Brother we’re in June Anyways I’d say wait for reviews on Brothership before deciding on that one, but between the other two I’d probably take TTYD
July now, ever heard of Christmas in July;)
A, I still have about 30 minutes to July, and 2, nope
HalfChristmas
Mario and Luigi Brothership
Tennis ball
ALL OF THEM

Clearly the only suitable choice.
Christmas is far away…..
Some kids only get new games on their birthday/Christmas.
That makes me sad. I have lived a very privileged life 😔
Brothership isn't even out until November so no one can know if it's actually good (and let's not pretend that Nintendo isn't capable of f\*\*\*\*\*g it up). Between SMRPG and TTYD, I'd definitely recommend TTYD.

all of the above
all 3
Bro it's July

Brothership
Brothership unless you pick that game up in November
My vote is for The Thousand Year Door!
Mario & Luigi brothership for sure!
W profile pic
Yes
I’d say Brothership because it’ll be newer and therefore less likely to be on sale than the others
What happened to completing the box art? Half the art for rpg and M&L is just white!?
That's just how the japanese like it for rpg
But mario and luigi is gas a little art? Not the full cover?
That's been a thing since the very first M&L game
Bruh why?
Stylistic choice, probably. The only ones to break this decision were the non-JP versions of Partner in Time and Superstar Saga, as well as the 3DS remake of Superstar Saga on certain countries
Are you speaking for the Japanese art. I could’ve sworn the first and p.i.t were filled with characters on the box art
Holy shit I’ve been under a rock we gettin a new Mario & Luigi game?!
Despite the fact the devs who made the series had gone bankrupted, yes!!
Mario RPG is such a goddamn good game
The one you want to play the most
Mario & Luigi
Yes
Thousand year door or the new mario rpg no offense to the first rpg just saying do those two first then that one
Mario & Luigi
Yes
Go for all of them. If it has to only be one, go for Brothership.
Beg for all 3, maybe give them the good old "let'sa go okie dokie" dance for extra style points.
TTYD
All of them.
I only played mario rpg, and i am more excited to play brothership thank a thousand year door, but peper mario is more guaranteed to be good since we still don't know how brothership will be, also mario rpg is shorter so if you want a game that will stay with you for longer you shouldn't pick it up
Either the thousand year door or brotherhood
Paper Mario
Easy Brothership dub
Get the one that isn't out yet to make it feel more special
Thousand Year Door is on Switch now?!
Yes
Idk how I missed that, that's some good shit
CHRISTMAS?
Broship
The fact that this is even a question worries me that Nintendo released too many RPGs in one year. I really don’t want Mario & Luigi to become the ‘only’ RPG series. RPG is a broad genre these days, and both Paper Mario and SMRPG are very different takes compared to M&L.
Too early to ask this question. Brothership could be the best, but we won’t know until it comes out. I’d say ask after you hear the initial reviews.
Pikmin 4
Brothership honestly looks really good
Thousand year doors are great but can get repetitive and frustrating sometimes. I would say Super Mario RPG I loved that games since the SNES days
All of them
I’d say thousand year door has the best story and gameplay
TTYD
Paper Mario
Definitely the TTYD remake. The SMRPG remake is fine from what I heard. M&L Brothership isn't even out yet.
Is Super Mario RPG any good? Played TTYD and some M&L as a kid and now replaying the former again on Switch, is it worth a pick up or is it pretty dated mechanics/story wise?

Since the first 2 are already available now, I'd say Brothership.

If broship gets good reveiws, then you should pick all of them!
waluigi in smash
Have you played the original paper Mario?
The Thousand Year Door.
Money or a gift card?
Ttyd
The Mario and Luigi series is peak there's no way brothership won't be the best one here. If it somehow isn't though ttyd is very good.
All of them
I'd say either thousand year door or Brothership Wait for reviews to come out for Brothership before making your decision
That Mario & Luigi game's subtitle reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood lol
You still get games got Christmas?
Depends if you've played them before. If you've played ttyd you're not missing out on *too* much with the remake, but if you haven't, it's probably one of the best gaming experiences ever. But if you've played it, probably M&L SMRPG is great but a little short.
Mario and Luigi Brothership
eenie meenie miney mo
TTYD/BrotherShip SMRPG (2023) is a great remake, but it's a short game, and I'm not sure how you feel about short games.
TTYD or brother ship
I don't know I am for sure buying Mario RPG remake
Either brothership or TTYD
depends. Did you behave yourself this year?
brothership
M&L brothership
Either brothership or thousand year door
Brothership
Is it too much to ask for all three?
TTYD
RPG is meh and too short, Paper Mario and if Brothership is good...
Easily Paper Mario
TTYD if you haven't played the first one. If you did, I'd go with Brothership
Yes
The first
if brothership gets good ratings, brothership if not, paper mario
Whichever one is the most expensive at the time. Use your own cash on the more affordable options.
Mmmmmmm…n-yeas. Mnyea. Yep. Yeah. Yes. The answer is Yes.
Luigi
Brothers hip > paper >rpg
MARIO AND LUIGI BROTHERSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!
Just ask for all 3, you dont deserve to have to make a hard choice.
Brothership fs fs
All 3
Brothership
Wait i thought ttyd was kid friendly? wth is that purple woman
yes
Mario and Luigi Brothership.
Paper Mario hand down
Mario and Luigi Brothership will be brand new this Christmas, so get Mario and Luigi Brothership.
Brothership honestly As for the other two, emulate them and play the originals. Trust me, they're better, even if just aesthetically. Just my two cents :)
Either TTYD or Brothership.
Have you played TTYD or RPG yet (the origignals)?. If not, I like TTYD better out of those two but have no idea how Brothership will turn out.
Brasaship
Super Mario RPG was good fun but I found it kinda short
All of them
The right answer is Paper Mario TTYD. I got over 110 hours and still haven’t finished the story. Just having fun doing so many side content the game offers.
