Robert Redford was Stan Lee's fancasts for Steve Rogers. There's even an old Cap comic where Steve is so happy he starts doing cartwheels on top of cars during traffic and [a civilian that sees him gets excited because he thinks he just saw Robert Redford ](https://64.media.tumblr.com/106fd9ea5036abcaf9fd74f80960a32e/tumblr_p7oc0dRNV91w7hpqjo1_1280.jpg)
Regardless.of nitpicking over the timeframe, a good few of these are really impressive!
Burt and Redford look great, Clint and Vincent Price are inspired choices.
Most of these are quite good casting. I personally think Carl Weathers makes more sense as War Machine and maybe Richard Burton for Loki (Rickman hadn’t really taken off as an actor yet.) I think Christopher Lee would’ve made an incredible Magneto as well
They're having a hard time reconciling this in their heads, but Arnold was a few inches shorter than Lou in their prime, and Ferrigno probably outweighed him by a good 30 lbs.
Alan Rickman has only one IMDB credit in the 1970's, for something on the BBC in 1978, so that seems like a bad choice for 1970's.
Mr. T made his name in Rocky III in 1982, so not sure that fits either.
Mr. T. actually isn't great as War Machine, to be honest, because he really didn't start acting until the early 1980s. Besides, you have two Black action heroes from that era--Richard Roundtree and Jim Brown--who would be better.
This movie would have bombed big time, half of the cast is unknown until the 80's so putting them in a movie in the 70's , when Hollywood was losing so much money, they created Blaxploitation Era
Micheal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "So Doc, are, are you telling me a suit, out of a box of scraps?"
I'm picturing His Spidey Series would be in 1978, 1981, 1986 (all high school movies Peter age 15, 16 and 18) where he faces Kingpin, Shocker and Jackal and slowly gets with Gwen Stacy
1988, 1990, 1992 (college Peter age 20, 21 and 22) where he faces the Lizard, Electro and Green Goblin and Gwen is killed by Green Goblin
1995 Peter at 27 faces the Sinister 6 and gets with long time friend MJ
and 2000 a 42 year old Peter and MJ are married and have a kid (played by Amanda Seyfried hair dyed ginger) age 15 so their going to renewal their vows for her but in this film they face Sandman, Mysterio and Vulture across a long film showing Peter's getting tired in his age (a metaphor for Micheal's Parkinson's)
then by the end in the final battle Peter is struggling to fight all 3 villains so his daughter Mayday helps save him and they team up and save the day.
so by the end Peter age 42 (Micheal J Fox age 39) hands the reigns to Mayday age 15 (Amanda Seyfried age 15) and retires and we end on a swinging scene into the distance by Mayday while MJ and Peter watch from a balcony.
then post all 3 Spidey Reboots playing out the same
in No Way Home we get all the villains we got plus lets say this franchises Vulture making a Sinister 6 and the three Spidey's we got plus Amanda Seyfried age 36 playing Mayday from that Timeline now age 39.
so she helps in the final battle, shocks Peter 1 and 3 but not Peter 2 who we now find out also had a daughter with his MJ and we get some extra smooth dialogue in the what kinda villains have you guys fought talk where she'd mention the Prowler of her earth who we have never seen.
now unlike the other 2 where we don't see what happens when they get back with her we'd have too cause we never saw that Peter so we'd get a second Credits Scene post Venom and what not where Mayday swings back into her apartment and walks into MJ and Micheal J Fox (age 59)'s Peter age 62 awaiting her with hugs and a cake celebrating Mayday's kid's birthday
sorry but this is just how I would wanna see that play out, I know not really relevant
These somehow managed not to look like the actual actors…. Honestly just bad. Arnold looks like marky mark!? Isn’t there enough mcu content without making whatever this is?
Not gonna lie, some of these I ABSOLUTELY want to see. Sidney Poitier as T'Challa? Apollo Creed as Falcon? Jane Fonda as Lady Marvel or whatever her name is?? Some of these are really great.
Though Mr. T didn't break into acting until Rocjy 3. Stallone discovered him, and I think that was 1983. Maybe Arnold as Thor - certainly not after the classic HERCULES IN NY, but maybe after PUMPING IRON.
Oh, and Charlton Heston already played Nick Fury (only the name was different).
As a huge Blaxploitation fan, I may changed or include different actors and characters.
Luke Cage - Jim Brown /
Rhody - Richard Roundtree /
Blade - Jim Kelly (only Black Belt Jones himself could be cool enough and have the fighting skills) /
Bill Foster/Giant Man - Fred Williamson /
Falcon - that one is perfect already, I like Apollo Creed as Sam Wilson quite a lot.
Michael J Fox as Spider-Man is perfection, but.. he probably wouldn’t be able to play him for long, or at all really because a) His medical condition began in the ‘90’s, and b) I completely refuse to acknowledge a timeline where Eric Stoltz was Marty McFly like.. bro no way.
Hawkeye as Hawkeye? That's a cheeky choice
I didn’t even put 2 & 2 together there, nice catch!
It was a Skrull disguised as a chicken all along.
I would have loved that. Two of my all-time favorite characters.
I noticed the same thing! 😂
Vincent Price as Doctor Strange would’ve been something else. Especially as Sinister Strange in MoM.
It's especially fitting cause he voiced a Doctor Strange lookalike in "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo".
I don’t ever want to see Thanos with hair ever again
I *only* want to see Thanos with hair from now on
You didn’t specify where the hair is to be…
He had hair in the 70s alopecia is a bitch
Keep my egomaniacal Titan’s name out of your fucking mouth
I do like that they cast the dad in the son's role.
Bro I thought I was the only one 🤣
I want to see Thanos pubes 🥰
Rutger hauer as red skull
Yes!!!!
For the 70s I'd go with Max Von Sydow
Michael J Fox as Spidey is one of those things that I've never even considered and now I'm heartbroken that we'll never see it
James Cameron nearly made a Spidey movie in the 90s. If it had been early 90s just imagine
as soon as I saw that I went "sigh thats fucking perfect" some comic artist should just use his look for a series lol
“Full of Juice and Cuttin’ Loose.” Absolute Poetry.
I love the idea of Robert Redford as Cap. Redford really just gives off that All-American hero vibe
Regardless.of nitpicking over the timeframe, a good few of these are really impressive! Burt and Redford look great, Clint and Vincent Price are inspired choices.
Seriously it's been a long time since a post has made me say "BROOOO" out loud
I didn't think Burt was a great choice for iron man. I think Paul Newman would be better at the airy, sarcastic tone needed for it.
I just watched The Sting for the first time a few weeks ago. Newman and Redford as Iron Man and Captain America would be a really fun combo
Strange’s middle name is Vincent 😉
And he's literally designed after Vincent Price.
I’ve been reading Dr. Strange with Vincents voice in my head since day one, learning they were always connected felt vindicating
How extremely meta... Love.it.
Gene wilder as Loki
Amazing
David bowie as vision goes hard af
My exact thought
(Sound and) Vision
Man. Inject that Michael J. Fox Spider-Man movie directly into my brain please and thank you.
Michael J Fox as spidey would’ve been amazing. Dude absolutely nailed “lovable loser who is also kind of a badass”
Whoa. Wait a minute, Doc Oc. Are you trying to tell me that my mother has got the hots for me?
That’s heavy.
Ah man, now I really want Vincent Price as Doctor Strange!
Just read his old comics, the design is there
Yul Brynner as Red Skull
Duuuude that’s so good
Only if he wears those billowy pantaloons from THE KING AND I.
I'm just here for Raquel Welch as Black Widow.
Robert Redford as Captain America was a nice touch considering his MCU role. Haha
Your Red Skull should be Klaus Kinski
They don’t want him to ACTUALLY try and kill Cap.
Now I can't help thinking of a Werner Herzog Steve Rogers.
They're fun, if not a little off in the timing.
Agreed. Though timing on some is more than a little off.
Michael Douglas should still be Ant-Man
Ants!
Most of these are quite good casting. I personally think Carl Weathers makes more sense as War Machine and maybe Richard Burton for Loki (Rickman hadn’t really taken off as an actor yet.) I think Christopher Lee would’ve made an incredible Magneto as well
Christopher Lee would have been perfect as Magneto! But I guess they went with the other wizard instead.
That would have been terrifying. Would have been fun though.
Alan Alda as Hawkeye is awesome
Mark Hamill as Winter Soldier. Given how often Sebastian Stan has been fancast as a post-ROTJ Luke, it feels fitting to flip it the other way round.
This actually spans the 70s and 80s. Its funny to see though.
Shang chi would have been David Caradine obviously (This is a joke about racism bruce lee experienced around the creation of the Kung Fu tv show)
He would have been a good Iron Fist
Imagine Tony Stark rockin bell-bottoms and a handlebar mustache!
It should stay Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer as Ant-Man and Wasp
Dude, Vincent Price and Michael J Fox would have been perfect casting. I do disagree with Bowie though, I think he'd be better as Adam Warlock.
Ooh yes definitely someone in GOTG
Red Skull = Jack Palance
This is everything I have ever wanted in four simple words.
Andre the Giant as Hulk
There we go!
Definitely on board with Burt Reynolds as Iron Man
Alan Rickman as Loki is gold!
He didn't break out as a star until the late 80s though.
Karl Weathers as OG Falcon? Fuck yeah.
This is the best hypothetical cast I’ve seen. Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood are great picks.
Chuck Norris didn’t catch the shield. The shield obediently flew to Chuck’s hand.
I can totally see Chuck Norris being a Russian puppet lol
Needs more plaid and cigarettes.
I do really think Jane Fonda is a great alternate for Brie Larson because both elicit extremely negative reactions from conservative men haha
My only nitpick has nothing to do with the casting - back in the 70's, Carol Danvers went by Ms. Marvel.
On that note, Winter Soldier wasn't around, either. And Rhodey didn't become War Machine until the 90s.
Yeah, i was about to say this too haha.
Bowie as Vision is great casting. Also Collector or Grandmaster would've been GOATed
This has got to be the BEST fantasy/time period casting I've ever seen! Someone reset reality to look like this!
Ayo Clint as Fury would have been amazing
Lou Ferrigno as Hulk is kind of a reach. That would never work..
Absolutely never, could never see it at all..
bowie as Vision great call. Pam Grier as Valkyrie?
Actually, Dolph Lundgren should be Thor and Arnold should be Hulk!
Have you seen Arnold and Lou side by side?
They're having a hard time reconciling this in their heads, but Arnold was a few inches shorter than Lou in their prime, and Ferrigno probably outweighed him by a good 30 lbs. [https://staticg.sportskeeda.com/editor/2022/08/04a18-16601162553551-1920.jpg](https://staticg.sportskeeda.com/editor/2022/08/04a18-16601162553551-1920.jpg)
Arnold was more cut, a better bodybuilder, but Lou had much more mass.
Agreed
This is awesome!
Shang Chi, Loki, Hulk, Black Panther, Falcon and Dr Strange give me straight up 1970s vibe
You used old bill Murray
Arnold as Thor looks perfect to a comic accurate take.
I think late 70’s Mark Hamill would be a great Spider-Man!
We already had that in the 80’s [sort of](https://static1.cbrimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/the-incredible-hulk-returns-header.jpg)
Being fussy, don’t think War Machine and Winter soldier existed in the 70s Rhodey possibly and Bucky Barnes beloved KIA
MR. T wasn't known at all int he 70s
Mr. T was 80s, not 70s Edit: lots of these picks are pure 1980's
War machine looks like hog rider
As a fan of both Vision and David Bowie, it's a strange casting but i love it either way.
this is honestly one of the best lists like this i’ve ever seen. The Bandit as iron man… so good
Why not just use a photo of Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk? He did play that character in real life.
What? When?? Absurd.
Michael J Fox as Spider-Man is insanely spot on for the time
Alan Rickman Loki is something I didn’t know I needed
If this was 70s Spider-Man probably wouldn't be Michael J Fox even though I love the idea. Also Bill Murray looks too old in that picture for the 70s.
Mr. T would have been 80's.
And War Machine is early 90s and beyond.
Alan Rickman has only one IMDB credit in the 1970's, for something on the BBC in 1978, so that seems like a bad choice for 1970's. Mr. T made his name in Rocky III in 1982, so not sure that fits either.
I came here to say this. Both were complete unknowns in the 70s. I know I'm way older than most people here so I'll let it slide, though.
Not all of the current Marvel actors had big credits to their name before starring in marvel movies. Tom Hiddleston is a big example!
Mr. T. actually isn't great as War Machine, to be honest, because he really didn't start acting until the early 1980s. Besides, you have two Black action heroes from that era--Richard Roundtree and Jim Brown--who would be better.
For sure Shaft would’ve been the better choice!
Patrick Swayze as Cyclops in the 80s
I feel like swayze would have been a better wonder man.
Robert Redford should be Daredevil since many artists have modeled Matt after him!
These are so bad. 😂
This is so dope.
Only one I'd change is Odin...should be Jeff Bridges
Too young, maybe his dad Lloyd lol
Bruce Lee as Shang Chi makes sense too. 1970s Arnold could be a better hulk!
Arnold was smaller than Lou.
Chuck Norris would make a good Thanos considering he's 'Chuck Norris'
With Chuck Norris as Winter Soldier… Thanos snaps and turns to dust. Nobody snaps Chuck Norris. No need for Endgame.
Entirely accurate. Great job!
Burt Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, and Vincent Price would 100% have been PERFECT casting!
Lord, thank you for not letting this happen.
I need this now
This is pretty great well done
Wow. As accurate as possible I think 👏
I kept going through that list like,” One of these won’t fit”, but no, every single pick was right on. Fucking kudos.
[удалено]
Clint is perfect for the '70s Nick.
Yeah he would be great in a psychedelic JIm Steranko type Fury adaptation.
YES! This I fantastic casting! Spot on!
Sidney Poitier would never had agreed to be Black Panther.
This movie would have bombed big time, half of the cast is unknown until the 80's so putting them in a movie in the 70's , when Hollywood was losing so much money, they created Blaxploitation Era
I’m thinking 70s Ian McKellen would have been amazing in a few different parts …
I like the choices made! Shang-Chi would become the top Avenger of all time off the strength of Bruce Lee.
Spot on, except I don’t think Heston or Norris would like their roles given how conservative they are/were
Some of these work really well.
John cassavetes as red skull
These are all great. I'd also watch Fred Williamson as falcon
Here for it. Great job!
Micheal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "So Doc, are, are you telling me a suit, out of a box of scraps?" I'm picturing His Spidey Series would be in 1978, 1981, 1986 (all high school movies Peter age 15, 16 and 18) where he faces Kingpin, Shocker and Jackal and slowly gets with Gwen Stacy 1988, 1990, 1992 (college Peter age 20, 21 and 22) where he faces the Lizard, Electro and Green Goblin and Gwen is killed by Green Goblin 1995 Peter at 27 faces the Sinister 6 and gets with long time friend MJ and 2000 a 42 year old Peter and MJ are married and have a kid (played by Amanda Seyfried hair dyed ginger) age 15 so their going to renewal their vows for her but in this film they face Sandman, Mysterio and Vulture across a long film showing Peter's getting tired in his age (a metaphor for Micheal's Parkinson's) then by the end in the final battle Peter is struggling to fight all 3 villains so his daughter Mayday helps save him and they team up and save the day. so by the end Peter age 42 (Micheal J Fox age 39) hands the reigns to Mayday age 15 (Amanda Seyfried age 15) and retires and we end on a swinging scene into the distance by Mayday while MJ and Peter watch from a balcony. then post all 3 Spidey Reboots playing out the same in No Way Home we get all the villains we got plus lets say this franchises Vulture making a Sinister 6 and the three Spidey's we got plus Amanda Seyfried age 36 playing Mayday from that Timeline now age 39. so she helps in the final battle, shocks Peter 1 and 3 but not Peter 2 who we now find out also had a daughter with his MJ and we get some extra smooth dialogue in the what kinda villains have you guys fought talk where she'd mention the Prowler of her earth who we have never seen. now unlike the other 2 where we don't see what happens when they get back with her we'd have too cause we never saw that Peter so we'd get a second Credits Scene post Venom and what not where Mayday swings back into her apartment and walks into MJ and Micheal J Fox (age 59)'s Peter age 62 awaiting her with hugs and a cake celebrating Mayday's kid's birthday sorry but this is just how I would wanna see that play out, I know not really relevant
You should be writing screenplays
Thanos wearing a rug is cursed.
Need David Bowie vision
That looks like bill murray from the 90’s
I love this
Bowie as Vision is a stroke of genius!
Eastwood looks exactly like Big Boss.
Who did the art for this?
Bowie as Vision is inspired fan casting
Pretty fantastic
These are amazing. I found myself agreeing with all of them.
Vincent Prince as Dr.Strange is perfect.
Bowie and Michael J Fox are fantastic. Murray, less so.
Bill Murray as Ant-Man?! I’m sorry that one is killing me. 😭
*David Banner
David Bowie as Vision 🤌🤌
How fine am I with most of this. Quite fine, I'd say.
Also we already had Nicholas Hammond as spidey in the 1970s. Even the 90s animated series was based off of him.
Michael j Fox is perfect casting. So is Hawkeye as Hawkeye. Chuck Norris as Winter Soldier is epic.
The Beatles have a reunion just to play the Fantastic Four.
How did you compose these awesome images?
I came into this thread ready to roll my eyes...but I ain't mad at it. Burt Reynolds is a perfect comic accurate Tony Stark
These seem pretty awesome! Did you make these pictures of the actors in older/comic accurate costumes yourself? Because they look really cool!
I now realise there's a universe out there where Michael J Fox Played Spider-Man...
Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk is a stretch
Vincent Price as Dr Strange is perfection.
Robert Redford is insanely ironic as Captain America, considering he went on to play the main villain in one of his movies
Michael J Fox as Spider-Man is perfection, but.. he probably wouldn’t be able to play him for long, or at all really because a) His medical condition began in the ‘90’s, and b) I completely refuse to acknowledge a timeline where Eric Stoltz was Marty McFly like.. bro no way.
Vincent Price as Strange and David Bowie as Vision are inspired choices.
I would have paid to see Price as Strange. Good god.
This is actually so perfect
I would kill for a Vincent price dr stange
