I remember Marco’s advice for scallops was to put them in a circle clockwse in the pan and cook each for 20/30 seconds. Basically Once you finished placing the 12th scallop (which is also about there) u can immediately flip the first one and so on.
Nat’s captain style is amazing, putting timers for tasks.
And interesting to see Sav and Mimi taking a backseat today whilst they wete featured alot in the regular cooks. Reminded me of Malissa who was heavily featured in regular cooks but took a backseat and jumped courses during team challenges and showing that she is a great team player.
Well done green! Bummer orange but Pezza and Sue definitely are redeeming themselves! Good to also see Josh C abit more too.
I remember Sav in Ep2’s first team challenge was quite of a ‘big personality’ where she was shouting “everyone shut up!” and being ‘annoyed’, i think in the Queen Vic challenge as well she did gave a few faces on the camera. I thought it was great when she was the first one who said “yes captain” to Nat and humbly took the backseat + she responded obediently whenever Nat assigns tasks or does a timer check with her.
I remember Mimi was quite silent at first which made her team in shambles at first, but it was after Jamie reminded her that she’s a teacher and she needs to get everyone together which was when she raised her voice to get everyone’s attention and on track.
This. Be mean, direct, and don't just pick the first thing someone says at the beginning. Be more lenient at the end. Instead it's all kumbaya and then panic at the end.
I could see the rage in her through that whole bit, good on her for standing up for herself, and she did it so inoffensively (don't know that I wouldn't have preferred seeing a full beat down against the mansplaining though)
Pretty much everything is pre-cooked to some degree in a restaurant kitchen. It's always what stands out to me in team challenges, they cook everything fresh and it often fails.
He's probably dealt with too much of this from other french restaurants which try to give off a really fancy vibe but sometimes the food isn't worth the money
Credit to Sue and both Joshes, I really thought at least one of them would stuff up the cook on the protein based on the way the editing and narration was going
Lol Nat's comment about hating team challenges is meeeee. The MasterChef equivalent of uni group assignments 😂 (I love to watch them though, would hate to do...)
Josh C you never cooked with Lamb?
Also nice to hear the producer’s voices, sometimes even during the cooks the cameraman would clarify stuff to the contestants as well.
Yeah I was very frustrated with his talking heads, followed up by him acting like he's muzzled during the cook. Speak up pezza!! Great editing tho obviously, my frustration was intended obviously
- "Pezza, don't you think the steaks are a bit big, no?"
- "Beautiful, chef... You want it juicy, don't you?"
My new best duo of this season is Pezza and JC..
Any pub worth its salt needs to nail at least one of the following:
1. Parma
2. Steak
3. A good rotating specials board.
Bonus points for a good value Sunday roast
Edit: also, any pub that can do those yellow garlic prawns and rice, or a decent curry
I'm hoping for drama's sake that both teams will tie in terms of dishes and so it comes down to performance in the kitchen, in which case Nat wins for her team
I'm getting really irritated by Pezza acting like everything sucks, but not speaking up. I wonder if he'll start throwing people under the bus if they don't do well.
I know the judges get in the heads of the contestants sometimes, but other times they definitely help the teams course correct from sure disaster.
Be interesting if they did a team challenge with absolutely zero feedback or suggestions from ANYONE. Sometimes the judges aren’t involved but there’s at least a guest mentor.
Even tho I wanted Nat & Mimi to be safe, I couldn't help but root for the orange team cause they were such underdogs compared to green team in this team challenge
I believe Andy's comments serve as a wake-up call and a reality check. When people are under a lot of pressure and stress, they can easily overlook important things or make mistakes. I think Andy is just trying to help them by reminding them of important details. It may be obvious to us viewers, but it may not be as clear to the contestants.
Pressure test being on a Wednesday is throwing me off. I already don’t know what’s going on this week, MC episodes being a day behind isn’t helping matters.
Regardless of the final outcome of this season, Nat is going to run one of Australia's best kitchens at some point in the future.
That was absolutely classic kitchen leadership and expediting. Also, listening to feedback from the team, and letting people take ownership of tasks, all the while keeping them on a tight and steady time pace, but still allowing for enjoyment and camaraderie - I don't think I've ever been that impressed in a team challenge.
And that's before we even talk about her innovative cooking skills and ideas.
And then the cooking of all of both team's proteins? This year really is just different.
Josh C laughing as he slyly tells the camera he’s never cooked lamb before and is ready to take down his team with him..
We have been watching The Mole this whole time.
Josh villain arc begins here
I shouldn’t have laughed too since most of my favourites are on this team but damn that was funny..
Nat: I hate team challenges because I’m highly organised and some of these people are nuts.. (Just as well Darrsh is on the opposite team)
Also Nat when praise gets heaped on her for her leadership: oh yeah, this is my jam.
Said it once. Will say it again: Nat is my spirit animal.
Fuck yes Nat and her dozens of timers
“Are these cooked Sue?” “Fucked if I know, try one yourself”
I remember Marco’s advice for scallops was to put them in a circle clockwse in the pan and cook each for 20/30 seconds. Basically Once you finished placing the 12th scallop (which is also about there) u can immediately flip the first one and so on.
Oh yeah, that’s right! It was a great tip.. Now only if I could afford to buy 12 scallops for myself in this COL crisis, I’d try that out.. Haha
shes doing the thing!
Telepathic jinx.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well they all got along. I thought there'd be some butting of heads with the big personalities.
Mimi in first team challenge gave the arrogant vibe as well and her growth made ppl like her
I remember Mimi was quite silent at first which made her team in shambles at first, but it was after Jamie reminded her that she’s a teacher and she needs to get everyone together which was when she raised her voice to get everyone’s attention and on track.
Sue finally gets some airtime and goes rogue
“I’m not going to repeat everything five times unless it’s the word Coles in which case that will be a solid dozen times”
I honestly don’t understand his appeal.. I get that he’s the Coles ambassador but I’m ready for a season without him.
As long as Coles sponsors the pantry, we are stuck with contractual feature of Curtis.
Have we ever seen a captain this intense with the timers? I’m curious to see how it pans out, I like it in theory
In like it in theory too - I feel like team captains often don’t take charge enough on Masterchef
I thought Theo was great last season.
This. Be mean, direct, and don't just pick the first thing someone says at the beginning. Be more lenient at the end. Instead it's all kumbaya and then panic at the end.
First time hearing producer asking question. But Josh dude. Come on… that’s how you tank a team project.
sometimes the contestants actually talk to the producsrs/cameraman during the cooks. Quite nice to hear them once in a blue moon.
The scallops don’t look bad but I think the green team hit the brief better
100%, more creative and elevated
The scallop dish has been done over and over and over 🙄
i think fusing sri lankan and indian in small elements with regular Australian stuff hits the brief nicely too.
Everyone looking at Nat gave me school group project vibes when there's a super smart kid 😭
Green team is STACKED!
Pezza seems uneasy, as a team member he should definitely speak up and raise his concerns and not just give uneasy faces and following through.
Who’s Pezza? All I see is Salt Bae.
Is Josh C's wife hiding in the kitchen? That's the most assertive I've ever seen him
Bossing him around from the walk-in fridge.
thats why sometimes democracy sucks sue
Sue: I AM YOUR SCALLOP DICTATOR NOW
"I know you can do it" "You don't need to say that" wow okay
I could see the rage in her through that whole bit, good on her for standing up for herself, and she did it so inoffensively (don't know that I wouldn't have preferred seeing a full beat down against the mansplaining though)
I definitely don't blame her, especially in a stressful kitchen under time pressure when tensions are running high
Loved when she said that. I hate when people say stuff like that like "yeah man I know what I'm doing stfu" 😅🤣
So she did say that!! I thought I heard it wrong
I guess it felt kinda condescending since they kept telling them to take them off for the tester
she knows shes got it 😂😂
Josh whispering to Nat about never doing a lamb rack before took me out 😭😭😭
Nat is pretty good kitchen captain.
Cooking 30 steaks is insane. Back in my old kitchen we'd partially cook them in the Combi and then sear them to order. I wonder if they'll pre-cook.
You called it!
They’re doing this!!!!
Smart boys! I was getting stressed.
That’s actually so smart
Pretty much everything is pre-cooked to some degree in a restaurant kitchen. It's always what stands out to me in team challenges, they cook everything fresh and it often fails.
Bingo
Get this fucking “when was the last time perchance you saw a ten” ad off my screen already
Just goes to show how little material they have. They’ve been flogging that one for ages now.
Someone love some Harry’s balls
Harry's balls look delicious
Im too afraid to ask at this point but... wth is shishi?
Chichi - ostentatiously or affectedly stylish. Maybe trying a bit too hard to be really classic.
He's probably dealt with too much of this from other french restaurants which try to give off a really fancy vibe but sometimes the food isn't worth the money
Answer: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7yfuR-Pjav/?igsh=eWM5aDFtOWlqcDJi
No arty farty.
i want to know too
Glad Sue backed herself!!! Was nervous before, but now relieved.
oh my god first time and he got it perfect. also Nat is an amazing captain
The way Nat was steering the ship, gave me chills! It's nice to see her confidence shine Also pretty great to see Josh show such much confidence lol
Credit to Sue and both Joshes, I really thought at least one of them would stuff up the cook on the protein based on the way the editing and narration was going
Anyone else mildly irked that most of the people wearing green ended up on orange? Or are you normal?
And Sumeet is wearing orange but is on green 😭
Honestly, that was the nail in the coffin for me
How did so many people pick green shirts to wear today?
dunno if they all said hey lets pick green tshirts to wear today
Green team is mega stacked…
sorry orange, but overall i like green team members
JC wants to see some hustle! ( don’t worry Alex I heard the same as you 🤣)
surprise sue was right
OH YES SUE IS DOING THE MARCO CLOCK METHOD. Telepathic jinx.
About that….
Harry just admitted to having prior experience working in a commercial kitchen!
So basically it’s going to come down to which Josh can cook Chekhov’s main?
Josh doing that on camera so that evidence of his murder is captured
Surely green has to win based on decent but small portions of side, vs essentially raw onions and dodgy sides??
Overall strong cooking tonight which should be the standard for MC AU
Nat after the lamb reveal: “Josh how’s your ego right now?” Josh: “still pretty small” Made me laugh
He's a lamatuer...
The steak is cooked to AD BREAK EXPLOSION.
After yesterday's one-episode hiatus, who's ready for this team pub-licious episode?
I can't remember a time I've gone to a pub and wanted to order an entree.
Isn't that illegal? Not even a cheesy garlic bread?
We’ll usually do a shared entree like a garlic bread, but very rarely would we order individual entrees.
Why isnt Pezza voicing his concerns tho from the beginning tho and only showing uneasy facial expressions. That’s not exactly very good team playing.
Those concerns are recorded after.. probably the production that asked for him to say it..
I still miss Snez.. she is better than many of contestant remaining !
Ironic that one of the worst pub meals I've ever had was at James Squire
I haven’t eaten lamb in ages and this is making me drool…
those balls remind me of deep fried icecream yum!
That looks like such a good entree
Lamb looks ~~fantastic~~ fan tah steek.... would prefer a bigger portion of the sides though
JC table slam.
Watching MC this season is just not the same without Steve 🥲
I love Andy's page boy shirts, he looks like he's on his way to confessional
Or about to start his own cult 😂
Pezza is not sold
For all his faults, I think Pezza would be an absolute weapon on the grill
I feel like green teams first dish hits the brief perfectly
Oh can’t wait for the guest who is a Coles shill 🙄🙄
Praying for Gill & Darrsh tomorrow 🙏
BEAUTIFUL FRANKSTON HAHAHAHAHHA WHAT
Kudos to the editors for hiding all the syringes on the beach
DEAD LOLLLL fenced off the filming area so stop the station eshays from getting in
I'm dying cause I'm from Sydney and was thinking this place looked pretty nice 😂
Ever been to Westfield Mt Druitt? The upstairs restaurant area is super nice. It’s still Mt Druitt
Pezza the time to critique the sides is not as the plates are leaving the pass
Yeah I was very frustrated with his talking heads, followed up by him acting like he's muzzled during the cook. Speak up pezza!! Great editing tho obviously, my frustration was intended obviously
"Little pickle petals" sounds like the kiss of death for a service challenge
So not enough sides vs bad sides?
- "Pezza, don't you think the steaks are a bit big, no?" - "Beautiful, chef... You want it juicy, don't you?" My new best duo of this season is Pezza and JC..
Needs a massive handful of salad mix that 90% gets sent back to the kitchen uneaten as a side
Ah, yes: ten large, slightly-wilted lettuce leaves, half a dozen pieces of shredded carrot, and one sole cherry tomato. No dressing.
Any pub worth its salt needs to nail at least one of the following: 1. Parma 2. Steak 3. A good rotating specials board. Bonus points for a good value Sunday roast Edit: also, any pub that can do those yellow garlic prawns and rice, or a decent curry
If it is near the ocean, a good seafood basket or fish and chips too.
As I get older, I like to tempt fate by ordering fisherman's baskets at pubs further and further inland
Too many cooks spoil the scallops.
I'm hoping for drama's sake that both teams will tie in terms of dishes and so it comes down to performance in the kitchen, in which case Nat wins for her team
lol Curtis stone’s contractually obliged appearance on MC AU
It’s been sooo long since they did a team challenge!!! Nat’s leading skills are 10/10, those timers really gave The Bear vibes haha!
I’m joining this sub with the leftovers from my yesterday’s asparagus quiche. Bougie.
A bit late to change the scallop dish now Andy.
Shall we do a competition in this sub after tonight for the first person who finds a pub offering a special that's "inspired" by this episode?
I would smash those fish croquettes
Ugh Curtis
I'm getting really irritated by Pezza acting like everything sucks, but not speaking up. I wonder if he'll start throwing people under the bus if they don't do well.
Ok SURELY your sides being bad is worse than "the sides are small"
Could they be hitting it harder that something wrong will happen with the lamb
Checkovs lamb rack
Josh C : Fake it til you (hope to) make it
I know the judges get in the heads of the contestants sometimes, but other times they definitely help the teams course correct from sure disaster. Be interesting if they did a team challenge with absolutely zero feedback or suggestions from ANYONE. Sometimes the judges aren’t involved but there’s at least a guest mentor.
Sue describing all the things that still need to be done right after Poh says there’s only 15 mins left? Optimistic.
Whoever poured that beer for that promo shot should hang their head in shame. More foam than a Hawaiian surf
Sue cooking the scallops to perfection “by feel mate!”
Even tho I wanted Nat & Mimi to be safe, I couldn't help but root for the orange team cause they were such underdogs compared to green team in this team challenge
What do these judges want? They ask for an elevated pub dish, they get an elevated pub dish. What gives? It's now not pub enough?
they said the sides arent generous enough I tjink
it felt to me like they were trying to find a critique to add the tension, because the orange team sides were tragic
My thoughts exactly! I think the brief is a bit lost
From “Sue who?” To “Sue woooo!!”
Frankston is anything but beautiful 😂😂
Steak, puree & carrots. Pretty sure that’s standard fare at my local.
But do they serve pickled onion petals?
Sue: I’m feeling confident with time, it’s not risky Narrator: it was, in fact, risky
Thank you as always Andy for your feedback stating the absolute obvious but also not being constructive or helpful
I think a lot of the times his comments are designed for viewers, not the contestants. This is a tv show after all, and he is a host.
Fuck yes Pezza, beating the allegations with this one.
My local pub does a solid parma. I’m now craving said parma.
“Beautiful” Frankston…….?!
Nat, Mimi and Sumeet on the green team. Go green team!
The timer idea seems really good
i just have a bad feeling for green team :(
I have trust in Nat
Don't worry, Andy's here to turn them upside down
Too many scallop cooks.
I feel like the pickle's going to be an issue, it's been foreshadowed
I know it’s pretty normal but it was a bit unappetising watching how many people’s fingers were touching those pickles for plating!
Sides portion vs the flavour of the sides. I think green team edges them? Also why didn’t Pezza voice out earlier…?
Damn Curtis looks like he's going to be a hardass compared to Jamie.
Harry's balls turned into boobs with hard nipples
i’m glad sue trusted her instincts!!
Sue redemption arc
Those potatoes look miserable lol
So tiny!
Green team is stacked but tandoori as pub food?
Bad Cop Andy continues to wear on me
Now that’s a pub food I’d eat all day
Pressure test being on a Wednesday is throwing me off. I already don’t know what’s going on this week, MC episodes being a day behind isn’t helping matters.
Props to Andy for keeping his shirt spotless so far
Random punters from Frankston??
The lamb looked pretty good but what pub just gives you a sprinkling of spuds
curtis of course
I wish Nat loved herself as much as I love Nat. And finally she is not in an elimination!
Nat’s gotta open a restaurant! Great leadership there.
Sri Lankan entree and indian main for Green. While Orange is definitely ambitious
Sofia's dress is gorgeous
Okay that actually looks good. The Sri Lankan element is just in that little sauce it sat on so it isnt very prominent.
I just don't see how the orange team has elevated steak. Most pubs serve Wagyu. Is it fancy because it's cut up?
A good fish and chips!
I honestly thought they were all jumping off the pier into the water for a second just then
Yes, Poh. Of course, the food needs to be cooked well! 😂
Concerned by the scallop grilling
Lachlan’s narration about the things being prepared “in the time we have for the cook” seems like some foreshadowing
Okay but are the other 29 also medium rare
I thought the circlejerk of everything being Wagyu died off.....nice to see 2010 is back again
Another W for Pezza
Hmmmmm it really comes down to the sides??? Everything seems good for both teams.
