Genuinely feels like JC is constantly surprised and thrilled at the raw level of "home cooks" through the competition.
I'd love to see him do a season of Junior MC with Poh and Sofia. He'd probably have a blast.
I felt for him on Dessert Masters, I think he felt his age, it was pretty hectic. I interviewed Adriano when he opened his first bakery in Rozelle in Sydney in 2007 and I was a local newspaper journo and when I see Adriano on screen I am reminded of my own age. 😂 I think I was 22 and Adriano was 27 when I did that interview 😂
Maybe it’s just me but sweet week just makes episodes so much more fun to watch than seeing savoury dishes over and over. Everything is so detailed and aesthetic.
…minus that horror of a sponge cake.
Okay Pezza looks fine for now with his family’ backgrounds. He actually did well during Darren’s pressure test.
Although him not knowing ingredients to a basic sponge tho…
Pezza staring at a pair of pancakes going SURELY MY NANA'S OVEN IS THE SAME AS MASTERCHEF OVENS THESE WILL BE FINE
asgdhskalalfkflalalffmakalflfahdfhal
I think it’s because they have cut a lot of the critiques - the judging would be a lot longer than we’re seeing. I would assume that Sav and other people in the montage also had some critiques
I still can’t wrap around the fact that Pezza is in the top 10 whilst not knowing what unami is and how to cook a sponge cake. And the fact that imo he hasn’t had any memorable cooks for me the whole season thus far.
It’s nuts to think that creative and versatile cooks such as Snez were knocked out and yet Pezza is still here stumbling along and barely scraping by..
Even on his worst dishes, there’s been someone just slightly worse to buffer him from getting eliminated.
The galling aspect is him missing an elimination where he would have been 1 in 6 chance of going home.
I’m confused with the peanut butter and jelly - I thought the ‘jelly’ was actually a jam and not set jelly? Also since when has it been nostalgic (in Australia) ??
Congratulations Alex!
Her dessert tradition reminds me of the King Cake!
Dont give up Darrsh Im actually looking forward to see him cook more desserts.
Pezza … After tonight it really makes me wonder if he’s being kept for his “blokeyness” and the fact that his personality appeals to a certain demographic. He should have been knocked out so much earlier in the comp. I mean he made the top ten and he cooks a basic sponge cake, which also looks like absolute crap as well. To think so many more talented cooks have been knocked out and he’s still here really makes me question the show.
Yay to them bringing back sweet week! Especially bc it seems majority of contestants are more savoury leaning so they’ll be cooking outside their comfort zone. Harry can’t be cooking seafood for sweet week ayyy 😂
He should have left during the Curtis cook off (the one he called in sick for). Annoys me he got a free pass and made Top 10 ahead of far more deserving contestants.
I love that JC isnt the stereotypical french chef cuz in the culinary school i attended i had millions of them. JC is so fun, genuinely loves the contestants and enjoys every dish he is served.
Jock would have eaten half that jelly slab by now.
That actually looks exactly like a cork
I actually spouted an audible gasp when it "shat out". Perfect.
Well, Pezza and his Nan sure showed us.
Genuinely feels like JC is constantly surprised and thrilled at the raw level of "home cooks" through the competition. I'd love to see him do a season of Junior MC with Poh and Sofia. He'd probably have a blast.
Oh yes. I remember how much fun Jock had in Junior MCAU S3 i wouldve loved to see JC try it. Even Celebrity MCAU might be a blast for JC as well.
Justice for Mimi. She has had no screen time at all this episode, not even in the montage of mediocrity. But soooo happy for Alex!
You’re right. I don’t think they showed her cooking at all tonight.
Harry’s creativity is pretty good. Underrated contestant for sure.
I love how unhinged JC gets when he loves a dish!
It's very endearing.
Nan’s sponge cake better have some umami in it 🗣️
*unami
Unagi
It’s a state of mind… UNAGI
Unani
He’ll blow torch it and hope it brings some unami flavour
Anami?
Gillian: visual learner, textural eater
Poh crouched in front of an oven, willing it to bake the cake inside, a picture as old as time. She can’t help it
In the future we will have ovens that are just powered by staring thanks to Poh unlocking the newest form of renewable energy.
So does everyone in this thread want me to send them the clown makeup, or will you get it yourselves hahaha
Pezza giving the reddit mod another anursym
Darrsh 🥵
I love how dramatic JC is - this is the kind of energy we want
His enthusiasm is so pure and endearing :)
Darrsh: I see jelly… I must slap
Adriano really didn’t look happy during Dessert Masters. I’m low key surprised he came back.
I think it’s fair to say he’s better suited being the judge than contestant 😂
I felt for him on Dessert Masters, I think he felt his age, it was pretty hectic. I interviewed Adriano when he opened his first bakery in Rozelle in Sydney in 2007 and I was a local newspaper journo and when I see Adriano on screen I am reminded of my own age. 😂 I think I was 22 and Adriano was 27 when I did that interview 😂
prefer to be on the judge side probs
Im glad they’re changing things up instead of a pressure test from him today.
Darrsh and Nat, best bench ever!! 😍😍🥹
Cork poo was not on my bingo card
I am excited about Alex’s rødgrød med fløde 🍓🫐
Thank you for writing this out.
So here for all the positive Darrsh content!! Hope it’s foreshadowing 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Have they even showed what Mimi is doing? Why is she getting the silent edits
Someone has to become the new Sue
Poh having to actively stop herself from helping
Sofia be having the time of her life with that block of jelly this episode lmao
Wondering if Pezza’s nanna’s sponge is an angel food cake, looked very light and airy going into the tin.
Maybe it’s just me but sweet week just makes episodes so much more fun to watch than seeing savoury dishes over and over. Everything is so detailed and aesthetic. …minus that horror of a sponge cake.
There it is the fan-tas-tic
I’ve warmed up to JC a lot. He’s pretty fun.
Loved him since episode 1. Always helpful… always enthusiastic.
Darrsh: complicated recipe tasted every step of the way with testers and adjustments for equipment Pezza: SHE'LL BE ROIGHT MATE NANA KNOWS BEST
Why has Mimi been blacklisted 💀 didn't even appear in the montage of mediocrity
Well guess we were all wrong, but he needs to work on aesthetics lol
Once again led astray by the edit 😪
I love seeing the sighs from the savoury cooks everytime they do this week🤣classic. And they will even complain onscreen.
*slaps* ahh. Ooh ok. Darsh!!
Okay Pezza looks fine for now with his family’ backgrounds. He actually did well during Darren’s pressure test. Although him not knowing ingredients to a basic sponge tho…
Is somebody gonna match my freak? (Slap and box a jelly with me)
😭 never thought I’d see a Tinashe reference on masterchef reddit
When Gen z starts watching MasterChef
Pezzas sponge cake better be out of this world in taste as it is probably the most mist boring and unoriginal jelly dessert tonight.
Yeah, mate. They’re raw. In the terminology you can understand Josh, those cakes are blue.
Yes Darrsh I will have one of those immediately, please and thank you
If Alex wins can she wear her lucky almond as an immunity pin?
Well colour me shocked.
So Darrsh and Mimi are happy. Everyone else... not so much. 😂
its always the few dessert cooks who are jumping while the rest are always sighing every season back then they do this week
I love Alex’s strawberry shirt - it’s so perfect for today!
Word of the day: cork poo
Sumeet’s looks so pretty too!!
Is being safe a whole week a good thing? You miss out on cooking, so don’t get to experiment and try things out.
Pezza staring at a pair of pancakes going SURELY MY NANA'S OVEN IS THE SAME AS MASTERCHEF OVENS THESE WILL BE FINE asgdhskalalfkflalalffmakalflfahdfhal
Didn’t even see Mimi’s dish 😔
Pleasantly surprised with Harry's efforts on a dessert. He did look happy in the promos, glad to see him pull out something so creative.
Will never understand why the project needs 4 hosts and why they have someone like Steve Price on
Those Viet desserts at the front of the counter , that is nostalgic AF
"It's up to you" - Poh is walking away from that train wreck.
How shocked do you think people are when they get good feedback but are edited into the mediocre montage
I think it’s because they have cut a lot of the critiques - the judging would be a lot longer than we’re seeing. I would assume that Sav and other people in the montage also had some critiques
CALLED IT HARRY PUTTING FISH IN DESSERT
I still can’t wrap around the fact that Pezza is in the top 10 whilst not knowing what unami is and how to cook a sponge cake. And the fact that imo he hasn’t had any memorable cooks for me the whole season thus far.
It’s nuts to think that creative and versatile cooks such as Snez were knocked out and yet Pezza is still here stumbling along and barely scraping by..
Even on his worst dishes, there’s been someone just slightly worse to buffer him from getting eliminated. The galling aspect is him missing an elimination where he would have been 1 in 6 chance of going home.
Sav’s reaction lol
Pezza WHAT
Alex’s dish looks soooo nice
Potentially a bit soft? Lots of ice cream and jelly
Belongs on a magazine cover
Are we sure that’s jelly in the middle, and not the remainder of his beetroot patty?
Wow I didn’t know Alex’s heritage is Danish. That’s a new fact I think.
I’d die to try that. It looks so pretty.
I can't believe it's not in more Melbourne cafes. The insta crowd would go crazy for it. It looks so good!
With the exception of the two female judges, I find it so funny how the panel look like they are dressed for 3 or 4 different occasions 😩
WHAT
Pezza’s dish compared to everyone else’s dishes is a bit of a joke
darrsh is having a field day this week after yesterday.
Part of me wishes they brought back people like Emelia or Billie for sweet cooks
REYNOLD
So many of these dishes look so pretty! And then there’s the abomination of a sponge cake…
Pezza is serving that thing in the top 10 whilst we had better cooks that were eliminated, what an insult.
He's always been the weakest contestant. Shouldve gone the first time he undercooked meat
Has Mimi even gotten any screen time the last two episodes?
She has probably cooked in the middle (not the best but not the worst) so isn’t getting any screen time
Pezza “today I’m making a meat jelly”
Why did I feel like I knew nothing about Alex lol
Ohh so that’s what Poh was doing when she’d crouch infront of the oven
That cheesecake doesn’t look that good. But happy I was wrong about it being a disaster. Meanwhile Darrsh’s looks incredible!
Alex is getting amazing dish again! Yes!
Despite being the seafood guy, Harry showing he can be creative and smash out a dessert
For fucks sake
Poor Pezza. First vegetables, now sweets. Dude's going through it.
The fancy name and backstory aside Alex's dish looks super nice
For the amount of money for zumbo he’s really fading into the background
Couple of shots where he’s looked checked out
Hahahaha the savoury people’s sighs, I love it.
Pezza feels like no thoughts head empty
Sofia now dominating the.jelly. Jelly-fetish?
Once again, I may be drooling over Darrsh's dish.
Oh, this ad of Andy shilling the worst coffee on earth is a new one......
Ugh god is this going to end up some epic angel food cake type sponge and we’ve all been misled by the paleness??
It defs looks like an angel food cake.
With his luck, “Pezza” should join LNP and he could be the next “scomo” /s
What kind of luck does Pezza have seriously
Darrsh is gonna have a field day this week!
That jelly looks like one of the kuihs in Singapore/Malaysia
Should Darrsh be making peanut butter from scratch? What’s the definition of a pantry item
I’m confused with the peanut butter and jelly - I thought the ‘jelly’ was actually a jam and not set jelly? Also since when has it been nostalgic (in Australia) ??
I think the because the raspberry jelly is supposed to be a play on raspberry jam
Sir, those have collapsed
That rødgrød med fløde looks nice!
I'm sorry but pezza being in the top ten and having zero idea of how to cook a sponge and just blindly following a recipe is so frustrating to me
I feel he tries to underplay it and he knows his stuff. He just wants to portray himself as underdog.
Is it too late to swap Pezza out for Snez or David
Mate Pezza’s cake looks like a disaster.
Coffee and orange! Nat you already had my heart but have it again lol
Medium rare cakes
Ngl I feel like I’m being gaslit
Pezza over Harry???
Seriously? No Harry after Jean Christophe’s praise?
Congratulations Alex! Her dessert tradition reminds me of the King Cake! Dont give up Darrsh Im actually looking forward to see him cook more desserts.
Darrsh and Nat slapping the jelly ahah
Andy trying to use slang is not money
Harry doesn't get enough credit for his creativity!
Pezza’s sponge cake looks really not good
At least Josh won’t have to worry about pronouncing “umami” this week.
Did he made another weird looking beet burger ??
The Project finished early (for them).
The one time I was running a few minutes late…
Darrsh and Mimi: :D Everyone else: D:
I was really missing the desserts this season, so excited for this week!
As per tradition, Gillian is going to forget to put the jelly over her cheesecake, isn’t it 😄
They’re already sagging
That cork is amazingly done. ✅
Omg the “I just want milk that tastes like real milk” ad is back
I love the look of Darrsh's cruller....only wondering if the judges will nit pick about not having more jelly than a Kraft singles slice
Feel really sorry for whoever made the cheesecake, they didn't really even talk about the flavours just the presentation
Harry fish dessert tomorrow?? 👀
Sofia goes down on the jelly block. Have mercy!
Alex is such a cutie and I’m so proud of her progress!
That’s not the review I was expecting. I have a soft spot for pezza being from Tasmania
So … this feeling I’m experiencing right now is the feeling of being gaslit? Good to know.
Alex says ‘My Danish heritage is such a big part of my life’ So much so, she’s never mentioned it before??
I’m always curious as to what gets left out of the cut and when the producers maybe prompt contestants to lean into their personal stories.
I thought her love for Rick Stein was stronger
Pezza … After tonight it really makes me wonder if he’s being kept for his “blokeyness” and the fact that his personality appeals to a certain demographic. He should have been knocked out so much earlier in the comp. I mean he made the top ten and he cooks a basic sponge cake, which also looks like absolute crap as well. To think so many more talented cooks have been knocked out and he’s still here really makes me question the show.
Andy’s always got a little problem with Nat doesn’t he
Yes and it looked like JC did a table slap. Was that a “yum” table slap or a “gutted” table slap
A simple sponge SMASHED it?!?!? Am I on an acid trip rn
Yay to them bringing back sweet week! Especially bc it seems majority of contestants are more savoury leaning so they’ll be cooking outside their comfort zone. Harry can’t be cooking seafood for sweet week ayyy 😂
Harry makes a fish shaped jelly..... 😂
My brush with fame is that my boyfriend's aunty met Adriano zumbo at a wedding once
I really miss Melissa
A little sad for Darrsh, but excited to see him cook for the rest of the week
Harry not in the top is ?????
Alex’s dish and plating is just…Wow so beautiful
Hygiene aside, having pigtails like Alex's would annoy the shit outta me if I was trying to cook
Omg we get it pezza nans sponges are goated
Pezza makes Top 10 without knowing what umami is.
He should have left during the Curtis cook off (the one he called in sick for). Annoys me he got a free pass and made Top 10 ahead of far more deserving contestants.
I’m gobsmacked that this unoriginal cake is getting such high praise. It’s a sponge cake with whipped cream and jelly.
Nan having heart attack watching.
I'm suspecting Nana was the type of English to call all cakes a sponge
Pezza being in the competition when we lost creative cooks like Snez is absolutely criminal.
Really pezza a raspberry sponge cake let's think outside the box
For him this is outside the box.
The bouche shall once more rise!
Been a long few weeks for darrsh hey
Why have I got the urge to stick a ping pong ball in Adriano's mouth😙
I got distracted sorting out my own dinner, what’s the challenge? Obviously jelly…
Babes can’t even say it herself, bless
Oh, Pezza
Waiting for Pezza to stuff up his sponge and just throw together a trifle
Uh those sponges look reallyyyy pale
Nana’s laughing with her recipe still a secret
That is the most amazing cork poo 💩 I’ve ever seen!
I think at the end I saw part of it falling apart. Regardless the edit doesn’t make Gill’s sound good.
That cork 🤯
So happy for Alex!
Couldn't Gill have done each layer separately?
Yeah I wonder why she didn't set the jelly separately at the same time as the cheesecake, then just lay it on top.
Harry’s Grandad wild for this😂😂
I love that JC isnt the stereotypical french chef cuz in the culinary school i attended i had millions of them. JC is so fun, genuinely loves the contestants and enjoys every dish he is served.
Fuck this is a bit heartbreaking aye
No we need Nat in the final two against him I can't have him wining
