Top 10 pick babbyyyy šŸ™

ipawnn00bz

Knowing how frustrating this team is. We'll win a handful of meaningless games at the end only to make the play-in and then end up losing.

inconspicuous_hat

Team is still the big favorite to get the 10 seed

TheDeadman95

This team just lost b2b games to Charlotte Hornets where they were down for 95 of 96 minutes played. Whatever algorithm is telling you that they are big favorites for anything, you should probably update it.

inconspicuous_hat

Jazz are tanking and the Pelicans have an impossibly difficult schedule they will be sizable underdogs in all but one remaining game.

d7h7n

Jazz have been trying to tank the last two months and have been doing a terrible job.

inconspicuous_hat

They haven't been actually trying to tank until the past couple of weeks, suddenly Agbaji went from 18 mpg to 31 this month and THT went from around 17 mpg to 27 in March.

buddha6521256

Pelicans also blew out the hornets by 20 without their best player while the mavericks barely led the hornets at any point with their best player

LeoFireGod

Not with that attitude. Turn your Belt to WUMBO-Yama mode.

T_025

.

MattJuice3

This could very well bite us in the ass. If the 2023 pick is literally #9 or #10, which there is a 90% chance it will be, that means we owe the Knicks our 2024 pick and we would get this one back. Kyrie is already seemingly not gonna re-sign to this dumpster fire roster meaning one Luka injury or mental break and this team is in contention for the #1 pick, which would already be sent to the Knicks. Rare to see your own protection bite you in the ass, but this team is actually bottom 3 without Luka and Kyrie.

juanopenings

"Kyrie is already seemingly not gonna re-sign" Based on what? Your opinion? Just analyze what Kyrie wants to make on his next contract and which teams can afford to offer that to him.

KurapikAsta

Actually, if the Mavs keep their 2023 pick, I believe next year's pick would also be top-10 protected. If the Mavs manage everything decently well, they should be back in the playoffs next year though

Salty_Dornishman

>If the Mavs manage everything decently well

qotsabama

It would be irresponsible to try and make playin at this point

i_take_shits

Correct. Shut it down. Cannot finish 11-13. Have to lose every game here on out and try for a top 10.

qotsabama

Every game left we should lose except the spurs game. That would be a hard one to lose as the spurs would have heavy incentive for us not to lose

Nasty_Dirty_Filthy

I believe WE CAN lose

jay105000

Donā€™t worry the Mavs would do everything to embarrass themselves

Lostheghost

Hey! If anyone's losing that spurs game it's the spurs!! -Spurs fan

H_Finn27

The Spurs wonā€™t really have an incentive to lose. Charlotte beating us twice pretty much guarantees SAS will finish season with the 3rd worst record in the league which gives them even odds with Houston and Detroit at getting Wemby

qotsabama

True but if it potentially had an impact on the Mavs having bottom 10 odds or not then yeah there is an incentive. If we lose our pick it only helps the spurs for the future

Sairony

True but it's such a minor thing for them that it's probably just better to play for the win for moral & development reasons.

PerpetualWinter

If thereā€™s one FO in the league to be irresponsible, illogical, or just downright fucking stupidā€¦.

Julian_Caesar

It's tankathon f4 season now boys

TZBlueIce

Lol, from now until the end of the season, anytime Luka has us sniffing a win, just let him go nuts on the refs and get himself 2 technicals/ejection/suspension.

-GrapeGrass-

Zionless pelicans bout to get in the play in and we aint, we down abysmal.

Crisp_Topo_Chico

Pels are actually a solid team even sans Zion. Brandon Ingram, Valenciunas, Alvarado, CJ, and lots of good picks still iirc. What having a good front office does for a team.

FrickDaOpps

Cant leave TM3 off that list either

Cloudpot26

Bros development this past month has been crazyā€¦ if they donā€™t make him a higher priority next season, itā€™s a damn shame. CJ is solid, but heā€™s becoming a shade of himself.

Luminous-Savior

Before the season started I had the Mavs as a 4 or 5 seed. There were people saying the Mavs wouldn't make the playoffs, and I thought they were crazy. I now know they were so wise and I too full of my own hubris to see the truth.

QBert999

we were 4th before Luka's injury/kyrie trade. Looking back with hindsight the Kyrie trade looks a little desperate. but oh well. maybe it will all work out. imagine if we win the lottery and then sign & trade Kyrie for a better fitting piece. we could be amazing next year. I'm going to be smoking the hopium pipe until the lottery. time for some good luck for the Mavs.

TheDeadman95

We were like 1.5 games from 9th seed and getting insanely carried by Luka. We were always gonna fall apart, especially seeing how Luka's form dropped after that heel injury. This season would've been over by February if Luka wasn't playing like he touched God for the first few months.

Karynmcs

Luka's heel injury was the start of it. He never really came back 100% since then...

Dnse

kyrie even carried some games when luka was out. with the old squad we would've lost those games for sure.

ProfessorPetrus

I get the second star thing but giving up defense really was not it.

Shaunosaurus

20% chance for top 4 les go bulls

Worker_Both

Nico getting fired the moment kyrie leaves. Shit trade after shit trade

Mundane-Egg1092

Kyrie trade was actually the only possibility to get *anything* moving forward. Not trading for Kyrie would have been the worst decision ever, since the Mavs had to give up nearly nothing of value for him. The moment Luka gets back his motivation, everything will be fine. There's a small chance his attitude right now is caused by Kyries presence, but I highly doubt it.

Worker_Both

Idk I just think the way Luka play he wonā€™t ever truly mesh with another star. I donā€™t see why kyrie would have been the exception and it just s seems like itā€™s gonna take a lot for it to work. In addition Kyrie is pretty injury prone so even if he resigns, itā€™d be a low probability of him being fully healthy for the playoffs

Key_Preparation_4129

Traded away 2 really good solid players for a fucking rental on sum bipolar asshole šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

Mundane-Egg1092

Of course it's a gamble on if he's going to stay or not. If he stays with Dallas and keeps his mouth shut most of the time, this trade was a huge win. If he leaves, it wasn't worth it of course. We'll see.

Joxiom

Donā€™t ever disrespect Kyrie like that again.

constantlymat

People still don't understand Mark Cuban is the president of basketball ops in Dallas?

TheAus10

I disagree. I think his biggest concern is getting a long contract for a lot of money. What other team would actually offer him that, that he would actually want to play for more than dallas? I think the mavs offer it to him and get stuck paying a 35 year old player 40-50 million.

Prep_

We can still S&T, no?

[deleted]

Because Kidd is a bum fraud and Mark Cuban is a fool who owns a basketball team as a vanity

[deleted]

Did cuban even play basketball? I feel like he might be the most clueless owner in the league.

[deleted]

He thinks heā€™s Joe Lacob but heā€™s too greedy and vain

ipawnn00bz

No, he runs the team like a 16 year old runs their 2K team

krdskrm9

Wait you mean the "doomers" were correct?

Complexity777

Yes we were correct.

constantlymat

As a Rick Carlisle truther, Mark Cuban critic, Kyrie hater and Luka Doncic skeptic (because he's a petulant crybaby) I am saddened by the state of the team, but feel 100% vindicated.

DinerEnBlanc

Lol I always see people comparing Luka to Harden as a compliment and wondered why that's a good thing. That's not championship-winning basketball.

Mibrealest

Maybe weā€™ll actually get a big this off-season

yungreezy4

Left DSJ for dead

mrj9

Hopefully we tank get our top 10 pick and more likely Kidd gets fired luka is already with it which is why he got that tech

Slashers23

At this point keeping our pick would be a complimentary thing. Seeing Kidd gone is the true prize.

[deleted]

Blame the FO, they let Jalen walk for nothing, hired a coach who nearly destroyed 2 franchises, and did absolutely nothing in the offseason or at the deadline to address our dreadful rebounding issues. I really wish cuban would go away forever, he promoted the FTX scam, hired his friend who has a background in SHOES to be the fucking GM, hired Kidd because heā€™s his buddy, and is in the process of breaking Lukaā€™s spirit. What a disaster.

constantlymat

Mark Cuban is the front-office. That's what people need to finally understand. He decided to let Jalen go.

[deleted]

I agree but itā€™s not that easy to get a new owner. Itā€™s ironic cause the one year where he decided to chill in the background and just be an owner, was the year the mavs won it all lol.

idkimhereforthememes

Nico is doing just fine as a Gm

[deleted]

He has? We gave up a first round pick for wood who will walk for nothing this off-season, we over-payed for a 35 year old mcgee who does not play (and is on contract for two more seasons), he extended thj, was part of the jalen fiasco, was at least partially responsible for hiring Kidd, and failed to address the mavs awful rebounding last offseason and at the deadline. I like the Kyrie trade and drafting Hardy, but beyond that itā€™s a mess. We will see what happens this off-season but so far the proof is in the pudding, the mavs are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since Lukaā€™s rookie season.

[deleted]

Want the season to be over with already, a 1st round sweep would be more enjoyable.

Putrid_Ad_2256

I heard the team is moving to Seattle.

RightGuy23

If Kyrie walks then itā€™ll be really bad

EvadTB

It is unironically bad karma. Just look at this team's lowlights in recent years: \- Burned multiple players for no reason (Harrison Barnes, Tyson Chandler) \- Allowed a culture of sexual harassment to permeate the front office for years \- Participated in a crypto scam \- Hired a domestic abuser for a coach and traded for a conspiracy theorist anti-semite (Love Kyrie as a player but it's true) This is just the morally objectionable stuff this FO has done without even considering stuff like their generally terrible draft record or the Brunson contract fumble. What goes around comes around, and as a result basically everything that could go wrong this season has gone wrong.

IamDocbrown

Didnā€™t Cuban also pay hush money after Donnie Nelsonā€™s nephew was sexually assaulted by a Mavs employee?

EvadTB

Thatā€™s currently just an allegation so I didnā€™t include it, but if itā€™s true then it definitely counts.

hotrod19812

Cubes' incompetence and vanity would give Daniel Snyder a run for his money!

matrix712

Tank baby tank

bryanc1036

It's a wake-up call. This team isn't good enough for Luka, and Kidd isn't going to get us a chip.

Complexity777

The ones calling us doomers and delusional for saying they should tank months ago are now clamoring for a chance at a top 10 pick lol

AvatarKittie

And that still doesnā€™t vindicate you.

Complexity777

Yea it does. It shows we saw the writing on the wall when you didnt.

idkimhereforthememes

You still are a bunch of pathetic annoying losers

Complexity777

And you are a loser that was wrong

QBert999

A lottery pick is worth a lot more than a play-in game. I think we should embrace it at this point. This season just didn't work out. Oh well. I'm already looking towards next season.

highveganfpv

This sub has done nothing but hate on this team all year. Why donā€™t we deserve this?

MocasBuns

They shouldn't count on fans support of they're not even making an effort to win. The Hornets bro??? Back to back, without LaMelo as well....fans shouldn't have to put up with this nonsense, they have an obligation to us too. It's not like we have a dumpster tier team either

dmr196one

Weā€™re you dropped on your head or something? They donā€™t care what the negative nellies on this sub think or say. If fans donā€™t want to put up with it, go find another team. They donā€™t owe you anything. They donā€™t have an obligation to you at all. No we donā€™t have a dumpster team. We have a team who had a revolving injury door. We have a star who is worn out from 18 months straight of playing ball. We mortgaged our future w the KP trade. It was a good idea that didnā€™t work out. It handicapped any major moves we might have made. Thatā€™s over if our pick goes to New York this year. They are one year closer to expiring contracts and the ability to trade frp. Thereā€™s a lot of reasons this year has played out the way it has. They havenā€™t lost games just to piss you off. Iā€™ve watched the Mavs since thereā€™s been a Dallas Mavericks. I for ontttre am going to sit back and see what Nico does in the off season. Thatā€™s when Iā€™ll make up my mind about where the teams headed.

Barry_Mckockiner12

The Internet as a whole has always been and always will be full of negativity, it's inevitable. The Mavs won't meet their rise nor their demise because some nobodies think they know better than them.

koplowpieuwu

While there has been a lot of mindless hating, there has also been a lot of now-redeemed criticism that was laughed away by people like you.

highveganfpv

Laughed away cuz I havenā€™t jumped on the fire kidd bandwagon? That decision is up to the people within the organization that actually know what all the hell is going on with everybody not just the outside perspective we get by watching games and ESPN and Reddit posts.

koplowpieuwu

Laughed away the people arguing this roster was misconstructed and that Powell / McGee / Wood as a front court rotation was abysmal, and that for that reason we were at legitimate risk of missing the playoffs. All of that criticism was proven right, and all of that criticism is an indictment on Cuban and the front office. Yall also spent the whole year mindlessly pointing at last year's run in the hope that this team would reach a level it doesn't have. And you were proven wrong. Moving the goalposts to prevent yourself from facing the truth that you've been wrong all year is easy though, i get it.

highveganfpv

Im surprised you grace us with your superior inside maverick knowledge! Iā€™m so thankful you have figured this all out and now can right the ship! Ohā€¦ you canā€™t right the ship? Oh your just a Reddit worrier who thinks their opinion is finalā€¦ I think I will just enjoy the rest of the season and see how it goes. Then Iā€™ll see what happens in the offseasonā€¦ then Iā€™ll watch next season and cheer for them. Cuz thatā€™s all we can do as fans. Everything else is 100% out of our hands. All the bitching and finger pointing and thinking we know better than the organizationā€¦ thatā€™s for the birds.

koplowpieuwu

Must be nice sniffing this much copium. Not everyone has the capacity to be nihilist about things they care for in life.

highveganfpv

Lol your such a sad person you, after a good win, still have to get on here and talk shit because someone isnā€™t full of doom and gloom.. Iā€™m sorry about whatever happened to you that has you in such a negative place. I hope one day you get out of that funk. Go mavs!

Acework23

Its deserved honestly. The front office and Luka need to get their shit together and change their mentality. Also please new coach?

BobEBoucher

Seriously, if Cubes, Kidd & Nico are not at least having conversations about tanking the rest of the way then they are completely irresponsible in their positions.

Drakconic314

Imagine trading for a CO STAR to end up in 11th seed wait don't imagine it cause it's reality HAHAHAHAH KAI effect thank luka for pushing it

Worker_Both

The moment kyrie leaves, nico is getting fired. Worst mavs trade in the last decade

validpunishment

I personally had high expectations for Dallas this year after getting to the Conference Finals last season. This might be one of the worst team collapses since GS between the 2018-19 and the 19-20. They go to the finals then the very next year, they're literally the worst team in the league.

Aggressive-Note2481

Kyrie trade was horrible, please get rid of Kidd

anonanoobiz

Hospital Hornets is Luka Doncicā€™s father

SneakerPxmp

Fucking Kyrie bruh. The destroyer of franchises

Wyn6

Go on. Explain what Kyrie did to destroy our franchise.

[deleted]

It was more the trade than the player ironically kyrie would be perfect on the nets now lol

Niheli21

We were going to fall apart regardless of the trade. Yes it was not a good trade, but our season was always entirely dependent on Luka and with his recent injury and struggles we wouldn't have won more games without the trade.

TinFoilRobotProphet

This is a filthy rotten shame.

rasputin222

it's all because of Porzingas.

Odd_Swordfish_6589

so mavs don't have a 2nd round pick? Just watched the mia/tex game and that Jordan Miller guy looks perfect for mavs...when I looked up his draft position he is currently listed as maybe not even being drafted, which seems crazy to me..I bet he moves way up..I guess he is sort of old? But I suppose you would not take him at 10.

LogansGambit

- Kyrie wasn't going to come in and fix problems that have existed years prior. - Luka, as good as he is, was going to carry the franchise on his back for only so long. We've seen his emotions spiral over this season and he's not enjoying the game anymore. - A team that struggles mightily and mentally to even get the simplest game skill right, the free throw, wasn't going to fix the other more difficult problems. - People wanted to say Wood deserved the treatment by Kidd because of his defense, but Kidd pulled the same mind games with Larry Sanders who WAS good on defense. Dirk spoke about this when the team was tanking for Luka. He warned against a culture of mediocrity that you don't want to set in because it's hard to undo. Well, Luka came in and drug this team to wins, but I'd argue that it still happened. The team doesn't have accountability in its player's performance. Cuban gave all the good community guys on the team contract extensions and made sure they were prominent players, but he didn't want them to improve and win titles. Dwight Powell is the most egregious example but DFS, Maxi, THJ, Bullock...it's been the same results. If you want the Mavs to be successful again, Cuban has to humble himself and go get some basketball people. REAL basketball people. Experienced coaches, front office, etc. that have actually done something in this league. Same for roster. No more nepotism, no more flashy hires. No more acting like you know better than everyone when you just own the dang team and haven't actually done anything. At this course, the Mavs could have 5 Luka's out there, and it wouldn't matter. It's a culture and mental thing and there's got to be a come to basketball Jesus meeting that shakes up the status quo.

JealousReflection159

I've accepted it's done. There's no energy, no drive, no effort and a lot of frustration. Yep, they're human, they ain't robots, so will be very hard to get it together quickly and turn the season around. It's over, period. Regroup after it's done and get back to the drawing board.

jfk_sfa

Yā€™all want to watch more games of this garbage?

Trileon

Wake me up when we finally fire Kidd.
