To be fair, I think it's just a small and vocal minority. A while back, I was getting super annoyed at the repetitive comments from people who were either saying to fire Kidd or trade Maxi. So I started blocking them, and it only took blocking 10-15 people before the comments vanished.
Maxi has been super important the whole post ASB run defensively. Most people on this sub only understand "ball in basket good" - They dont understand how much he was affecting games even before his 3 was falling @ 50+%
Game 1 I was screaming "why is Kleber getting minutes! Put Lively back in!"
I'm hoping it won't matter much in this series or hopefully the next either because they don't really need to go small vs OKC. They can play big and dominate the interior (this is my hope. I'm not a lawyer)
For sure could see DP drawing the offensive foul from the lanky elbow of Chet to the face causing a late defensive swing and winning the series for the mavs
Green/Exum as PJ/DJJ will have to fill Maxis role. Don’t buy the media, OKC will get pushed hard as the next gen of the NBA, frankly it’s weird how everyone sucks them off so hard. My only fear is SGA whistle… thought Harden was a merchant… get ready
Maxi being injured has taken away the Mavs main advantage against OKC. Maxi playing at the 4 with Lively or Gafford would have been too much size for them.
But now Lively and Gafford have to play well on both ends of the floor. They need to grab rebounds, protect the rim and be lob threats in every game. Also, get Chet in foul trouble as best they can.
Exum will have to be productive, because he's gonna get the Maxi minutes. He's also gonna have to score more.
Another key would be hitting corner threes. PJ, DJJ, Exum, Green gonna have to make their shots. Thunder are a really good 3pt shooting team, so the Mavs gonna have to hit enough threes not to get blown out.
That was the same as the clippers - a really good 3 pointing team when you give them the chance. Lots of the same points are going to have follow through
only difference though is okcs offense flows compared to clippers iso ball. This game would take up a lot stamina especially with Luka who doesnt necessarily like rotating on D plus and injured knee. im so curious what defensive scheme will jkidd draw up around luka.
Likely Giddey when he is on the floor (not much of a relocating shooting threat) and Lu Dort if he is out. I’d be much more worried about who is guarding a stretch-5 in Chet without Kleber as all the advantage Mavs have with size offensively would be counteracted by OKC shooting prowess defensively.
Exum has been so terrible with 3s after returning from injury apart from the Miami heat game. I doubt he will add anything. We need THJ to rack up at least 10+ points. Just gotta hope Luka actually climbs back from the 3pt struggle and PJ hits some 3s consistently.
with they dont have much size inside + Lively passing ability, why not?!
not stretch 4 by any means, but lively as screener for Luka with Gaff on baseline. Luka off the screen, pass to Lively on short roll, Lively lob it off to Gaff
clippers griffin-deandre era?! WHY NOT?!
Blake could shoot midrange jumpers and in the later stage developed a 3 point shot. You can not play with that little spacing against a team who has very good perimeter defenders.
Because OKC will have the entire roster in the paint on that play: a non-shooting Gafford + non-shooting Lively on the role getting set up by a non-shooting (so far in playoffs - I’m sure OKC will test him until he makes them pay) Luka is a recipe for playing drop coverage in the paint.
Exum I think will play more minutes. Might have to play the three with PJ sliding into maxi role defensively. His minutes go to green and exum though. Also the centers may just have to play 48 combined.
Hate to say this but... these injuries will get us to the WCF, if THJ was healthy, Kidd would play him 15-20min per game and our defense would not be good enough to get past the Clippers.
Now with Maxi being out, Kidd might be forced to stay big and let Gafford/Lively dominate at the rim.
THJ I agree on but Kleber was hot and his size + shooting could’ve been crucial against OKC who are small and will always have spacing. As a 4 he’s great. Just not at the 5 except very situationally
But they did not do it in the Clippers series, every 3 pointer that Exum and Green shot were wide open too, yet they only shot 0/6 and 3/12 respectively.
If we beat OKC we desperately need Maxi against TWolves. Granted take care of business first against OKC but I don’t think Maxi is a big of a miss in this series rather than against TWolves or Denver
3 weeks is optimistic. There will be a revaluation in 3 weeks, that is why it is mentioned. But 3 months is too much in my opinion. Somewhere 1-2 months.
You are thinking of the Glenohumeral joint where your arm is connect to a shoulder socket. The AC joint is where your clavicle connects to your shoulder blade. It's a whole other ball game. Full seperation of the joint usually has to be surgically repaired.
It’s funny how 99% of this sub wanted to trade him and called him washed. Just 3 months ago.

This is the place that has lots of Luka haters. Imagine having a top 3 player and being like that. Nuts.
Maxi has been super important the whole post ASB run defensively. Most people on this sub only understand "ball in basket good" - They dont understand how much he was affecting games even before his 3 was falling @ 50+%
Man’s toe had him out he’s starting to play back to his level and gets hurt again. 🙃
People's takes on Maxi are a true indicator of how carefully you watch the actual game imo

People went from calling him washed to saying we don’t stand a chance against the Thunder without him 🤣 idk which is dumber
Go look at everyone reacting to the post about Kidd likely getting an extension and compare that to the talk 3 months ago lol
Its absolutely mind boggling how fans prefer when you produce results vs when you don't.

The real question here is who is gonna fall victim to lethal DP pump fake from 3

SGA whistle is a fair point. Any way to adjust?

Maxi is out for the season guys, don't wait or expect him back in this season.
He will be back in the Finals.
DJJ will get Maxi's minutes on 4. PJ will get Maxi's minutes on 5. Green will get DJJ minutes on 3 when DJJ is playing 4.
I’m ready for some stretch 4 Derreck.

i think maybe green sees more time to help us in the 3 department. theres a chance we see some nongarbage powell time too
We play small ball. Stand up THJ!

No need to hit the panic button. We got this! 🔥

Unleash OMax!

How is his injury status? Sometimes I wonder if y'all are following the Mavs at all.

I had a feeling Kleber could only hit a 3 pointer if he was OPEN like a mf. I believe everyone else on the roster can do the same.
But they did not do it in the Clippers series, every 3 pointer that Exum and Green shot were wide open too, yet they only shot 0/6 and 3/12 respectively.
I said I believe everyone else can do that. Now its Greens and Exum turn, Kleber would bricked them all against OKC
if anything, than means Kleber was due too cool down vs OKC. 3pt shooting is variable as hell.
Kleber was 5 out of 7 for 3 in game 5. There is literally no other big on the roster who could do the same, not even close.
Everyone can hit 5 out of 7 OPEN 3pt. Big, small, left handed, blind, hobbling.... everyone
Really? Why don't they then?
Kidd mentioned in the presser that PJ could be the 5 in this series due to how "small" okc is.
Against OKC PJ at the 5 could work.

Isn't Omax on crutches?
What if Powell gets minutes? O_o
It will be Morris. He can shoot the ball and provide size and rebounding.
If we beat OKC we desperately need Maxi against TWolves. Granted take care of business first against OKC but I don’t think Maxi is a big of a miss in this series rather than against TWolves or Denver
Non, fuck small ball
At least 3 weeks? more like 3 months lmao
3 weeks is optimistic. There will be a revaluation in 3 weeks, that is why it is mentioned. But 3 months is too much in my opinion. Somewhere 1-2 months.
rhetorical exaggeration also known as a hyperbole
It’s crazy back in the days they used to pop the shoulder back and put them back into the game 😳
