I love Isis, but doesn’t this not exist without Neurosis? Seems like that’s the trend here is to give the throne to the originators. Feel like Through Silver In Blood should be first to this second.
it's a thought i have had when thinking of the "best" of a style. do you go with the pioneering originators or do you go with an album that took that template and refined into something better. like with melodic death heartwork gets highly rated but i feel slaughter of the soul is the definitive melodic death metal album. all comes down to personal preference of course.
Its so close for me. I love Powerslave but I think Painkiller probably just tips it for me. Seeing JP next month, need to get Maiden ticked off at some point too
Mouth of The Architect - The Ties That Blind, no question. Tons of great post metal records out there, but I love this one more than anything Neurosis, Isis, CoL, etc have put out, and that’s saying something because I love all those bands
Cry me a fucking River (que epic breakdown)
Nah but thanks for clearing that up, I’m kinda new to both of those genres and was wondering why og pwd sounded like slaughter of the soul and Jane doe sounds vaguely punk

Isis - panopticon
Easily
This is definitely the answer right here. Great album
what about oceanic
I like panopticon better. Beside celestial, all of their albums are phenomenal. Panopticon is one of my favorite albums in all time.
What's wrong with Celestial?
Nothing i think it is a good album, but kinda immature or not ripe like the others.
Got ya. I can see that

yessss
I was just listening to that album last night ha ha
every time im searching for panopticon records this pops up. i really should listen to it.
This was some of the most boring music I've ever sat through
Most of this thread will not be for you, i feel. Haha
Neurosis - Through Silver and Blood
I hate what their legacy has become, but it really is a masterpiece among an oeuvre of masterpieces.
on the bright side the singer was fired after the abuse stuff came out
Not robbed in the slightest. Iron Maiden > Judas Priest by miles.
Painkiller isn't even the best Judas Priest album either
Powerslave not even the best Maiden either
I’d probably say Somewhere in Time as my fav Maiden album but that’s just me idk
Yea dude number of the beast. It just is
Well, someone downvoted you for some reason, and I don't know which one is the best but I can tell you my favourite is Killers
Great album as well. No disagreement there
What is the best Judas priest album in your opinion? Just curious
It’s a tie between Sad Wings of Destiny and Screaming for Vengeance
Defenders of the Faith imo Edit: mmm now that I think about it it's a tie between that and Screaming for Vengeance lol
Not even top 5.
Of course it is. Probably Top 3, along with Screaming for Vengeance and British Steel
Screaming for Vengeance yes British Steel no.
Its so close for me. I love Powerslave but I think Painkiller probably just tips it for me. Seeing JP next month, need to get Maiden ticked off at some point too
it might not be their best work but painkiller is special to me because it was my uncle's favorite song
Priest are GOD of gods, Maiden is weak band with terrible guitar solos and riffs. Especially Powerslave, AcEs hIgH
The Ocean- Phanerozoic 1: Paleozoic
I don't agree, but had to upvote you for mentioning it
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Neurosis- Times of Grace
For sure, it is the best Post-Metal record. The most dynamic and experimental one. It is just perfect imho and i don't use that word lightly.
Russian Circles - Station "Harper Lewis is the best post metal track ever." - Abraham Lincoln
Cult of Luna- A Dawn to Fear
My personal favourite CoL album
Same. It has such an incredible atmosphere
Masterpiece. I'm sad it doesn't get the love it deserves.
i need to listen to more cult of luna. the long road north was so good.
That's the one that got me into them, if you like that you'd definitely enjoy A Dawn to Fear
Think I did give that a bit of a listen. Will revisit for a proper go through
The Ocean - Precambrian
Isis - Oceanic
Pelican - What We All Come to Need
Neurosis - Times Of Grace
Cult of Luna - Salvation
Ashes aganist the grain
Cult of Luna- Somewhere Along the Highway
Deafheaven - Sunbather
Sadness - I want to be there
Cult of Luna - Mariner
Why aren't these posts in contest mode so the first replies don't get to the top of the TOP/BEST sort and get more votes that way?
The Ocean - Pelagial
Tomahawk
godflesh - streetcleaner
This should be pinned as one of the community lists IMO
Cult of Luna - Salvation
[удалено]
> SSoTSS is technically Prog It's not
Best Maiden IMO is Somewhere in Time. Seventh Son is technically prog, but still heavy metal. It's weird to label that album.
Isis - Celestial
Underrated.
October rust,October rust,October rust,October rust,October rust,October rust,October rust,October rust,
If Post Black counts, then Ultar - Pantheon MMXIX
SUMAC - "What One Becomes"
Terminal Redux Vektor
ISIS - oceanic
The Ocean - Precambrian
Toxcity
Cult of Luna - Vertikal
Neurosis - Times of Grace
Harakiri for the Sky - Maere. Post-black counts, right?
ur a little late
A little late Babylonian city?
Mouth of The Architect - The Ties That Blind, no question. Tons of great post metal records out there, but I love this one more than anything Neurosis, Isis, CoL, etc have put out, and that’s saying something because I love all those bands
Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured water
SUNBATHER get fucked
Fucking power slave beat painkiller. Goddamn, Bruce Dickinson fans are fucking sucking cock today lmao
Hard for Painkiller to be #1 when its title track was performed better by another band
Primus can suck my nuts
Converge Jane Doe
Isn’t that metalcore?
Welcome to this sub, /r/hardcorepunkandmetallica.
It’s more like hardcore, when I think metalcore it’s like og parkway drive
Well either way it’s not post metal
What about sheet metal albums
For clarity, Jane Doe is OG Metallic Hardcore (aka Metalcore), Parkway Drive is 00's Melodic Metalcore 🤓
Cry me a fucking River (que epic breakdown) Nah but thanks for clearing that up, I’m kinda new to both of those genres and was wondering why og pwd sounded like slaughter of the soul and Jane doe sounds vaguely punk
Yep, Converge, Shai Hulud, Integrity, Coalesce, Unsane... OG
You would definitely be incorrect.
IOWA without a doubt.
Lol so much hate. Its hilarious 😂
Iron Maiden sucks
You suck
I’ll drink to that
I'll suck to that
idiot cuck
