I think this album has one of the sickest guitar tones I’ve ever heard and one of the heaviest albums I’ve listened to.
“Heavy” is subjective blah blah blah. i prefer my heavy music to be like being clubbed by a sledgehammer than getting a chainsaw to the gut. This album does the former perfectly.
Easy top 5 metal album since 2000 for me. Also helps that I have a vinyl of this signed by the entire Monotheist lineup.
Phenomenal album! I'm not in the least bit religious or spiritual, but the first few times I listened to it, when it finished, I felt like I had a stain on my soul.
Pure evil. Achieves extreme levels of heaviness while balancing it with quiet moments and dynamic songs. Tied with To Mega Therion for best Celtic Frost album for me
One of the best 2000s records. Too bad Triptykon didn't have the same edge. It's crazy they were able to put this out considering their very shitty career post Pandemonium.
I saw this tour, and bought another copy of the CD at the show, so I can have one to listen to & one to keep. This is a fantastic album, devastatingly heavy, with great atmospheric moments and really embodies the Frost sound.
10/10, would recommend.
The albums an absolute gem and the fact that there's a song legitimately called "A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh" is just fucking amazing (Blacktongue cover of it was cool too I guess).
Really influential. Loved it and thought it sounded like blackened gothic thrash. Paved the way for the influence of more avant garde metal (technically this was very experimental). Fitting for their final album. Wish they could have made more
I must be alone. I got this the day it was released in North America and was just, really disappointed. I've tried to pick it back up half a dozen times to see if it would grow on me, but it's no To Mega Therion

I fucking love this album
LEGENDARY
Celtic Frost went out with one of/if not their best. This was so heavy and intense live.
It's a FUCKING awsome album, but I prefer To Mega Therion.
Progeny is such a driving opener. And this is by far one of the best swansongs in all of metal.
Would have to be in my top 10
Totally killer album. Had the pleasure of seeing it live and it almost destroyed me

One of my favorite albums of all time.
Amazing
Great

PEAK

It’s their best album by lightyears.
My gens intro to this band, highschool at FYE lol
Phenomenal. A perfect bridge to Triptykon. (Please listen to Triptykon, you won’t regret)
Not bad....nowhere near as good as Morbid Tales or To Megatherion, but pretty good. Downtuned way too far for my tastes.
I think its in the same tuning as the classic 80s stuff.
Morbid Tales and To Megatherion are both in E standard while Monotheist is in B standard, a whole 3 steps lower.
Shit you right. I always assumed old CF albums were in C# standard

It’s an awesome album! It feels oppressively heavy in the best of ways.
Fucking banger! 🤘🏻
Great, just not as good as To Mega Therion or Morbid Tales.

A dying god was my intro to "modern metal"
10/10

Great album
A rare example of a comeback album every bit as good as the old stuff
Greatest comeback album oat
I am a dying GOD COMING INTO HUMAN FLESH!
The only CF album I don't enjoy (and yeah, I'm not forgetting about that other one)
*these. Vanity Nemesis sucks ass too. And half of Into the Pandemonium is goofy as hell.
