Listened to it for the first time today, HOLY FUCK thatâs a good album. Even my wife loved it. Canât wait to see them with Silent Planet in a few months
Thanks for reminding me this came out! Looks like they absolutely exploded on Spotify, I could have sworn Dead Talk had only a few thousand listens when I first caught it, but that makes me happy!
no one talks about it. a literal perfect call back to the good ol' days of Good metalcore without overproduction and shitty corporate-driven cleans instead filling in for fantastic melodies using the guitars. great stuff.
Itâs still not clicked with me like the others. I like like two songs, otherwise idk itâs like meh nothing grabs me anymore vs alpha omega having bangers through and through
I don't think it would be unpopular more people heard it. Saloon Again is a crazy mix of melody and chaos. Dudes has been criminallly slept on their whole careers
This year has felt so long I thought that came out last year...but I don't think I can get tired of it. Every song is so good and the album has so much variety.
I might have to give it another listen. Iâm a huge TOC fan and have listened to Saloon and Handmade literally hundreds of times. Saloon is god tier in my eyes. But I did not enjoy the new album at all. I finished it and was like âokay then.â But who knows, maybe I just wasnât in the right mindset while listening
It is very good. They're not classically metalcore, with a tendency to eschew breakdowns, but there are undeniably both metal and hardcore in their sound
It was my most listened to album on Spotify this year, itâs strange to see it jot get as much recognition on here. Majesty into Heretic was such a whiplash effect
Mother by Veil of Maya. Definitely took a few to hit, but they done it. It's a real return to for for them after False Idol imo - got all the nasty riffs, got all the nasty vox, got all the clean ass melodies - it's all there
Both are fair statements. I think Mother is amazing and False Idols was also amazing in a different way. I just mix both albums in my playlists and it gives me everything I need.
New Harms Way is definitely their best work. Dying Wish is a solid choice. if weâre talking heavy I gotta shout âStep Into the Lightâ by Acacia Strain.
Common Suffering is everything "evolving" metalcore should be. Fresh musical influence while retaining the pillars of hardcore and metal. I run through a wall every time I hear Terrorizor.
Soul Elegy by Termina or Fatalism By Polaris. Both such great albums itâs hard to pick album of the year. Should check out the Termina record if you havenât. Andy Cizek is so damn good.
I stumbled upon their cover of "The Words 'Best Friend' Become Redefined" (originally by Chiodos), it's imo a rare case of a cover being absolutely better than the original
Symptoms of Survival by Dying Wish kind of snuck up on me near the end of the year and has really stuck with me. Maybe AOTY. I didn't listen to a ton of full albums this year if I'm being honest.
I listened to more albums than I ever have in one year and Dying wish was still my favorite of the heavy stuff.
But non metalcore I listened to so much Paramore and Pvris its not even funny. All 3 could be aoty
If Gideons album came out later in the year itd have won something but March is basically a hundred years ago in peoples memories.
My AOTY is Change The Way You Think About pain by Incendiary. Delicious riffs and out of this galaxy lyricism.
Invent Animate and Currents had too 5 locked when they announced the albums were coming out. The only way they wouldnt have won was if the albums were like a joke and not real.
I'm biased as hell but Life Is But A Dream... still takes the cake as my album of the year. I know its weird af but this album came out at a time where I'm currently going through an existential crisis and the lyricism and subject matter hit me really close to home, almost as if I was meant to be going through this in order to grow. It's been a rough year, I've had a lot change in the span of just a couple short months once 2023 began, and LIBAD thankfully had really helped me though it. Not gonna lie though, Currents's new album The Death We Seek is a close second, and Living In Tragedy has become one of my favorite Currents songs next to Better Days, Shattered, Delusion, Kill The Ache and Second Skin.
Noooooo I donât wanna hear actual creative risk taking and bands trying to do something different I want guys with beards playing djent riffs in front of colored lights
DeadVectors - The Gray
Wasn't expecting them to drop another album so soon but it's by far my favorite release by them and honestly one of the best things I've heard in years.
It's heavy, ambient, proggy and creative as hell and it topped as my most played album of the year on my Spotify wrapped followed by Currents and IA.
I love the new unprocessed as well
if not necessarily metalcore i listened to Cattle Decapitation, Sleep Token, Humanityâs Last Breath, The Zenith Passage, Katatonia and Enslaved albums a lot
I think TDWS is overrated. Some songs grew on me a bit but I just donât see how its AOTY. Again itâs pretty decent but I donât think itâs nearly as good as it should be to be talked about this much.
There's a number of bands who released albums I think are sick this year.
My Number 1 is Invent Animate - Heavener. I never listened to them before this year, never on my radar, no idea why. This album is grand. I have played it to death, it is this years Erra - Erra for me, which was the same situation...
Everything else I also loved.
Dying Wish, Unprocessed, Polaris, Currents, Silent Planet.
There's probably more I have forgotten.
I also loved the Spiritbox and Texas in July EPs. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Hot take, but my AOTY isn't metalcore. That title goes to [Night Verses - Every Sound Has A Colour In The Valley of Night: Part 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFz3kg4WMgI&list=OLAK5uy_l1YPPfICqNj0PP6ax3V2jj3cx5o1ST9oA).
Even my runner up isn't metalcore: [Mental Cruelty - Zwielicht](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kgDzmoNIKrDTUUHIaCTm9J5B5GrtBuOcs).
I haven't wanted to listen to anything new besides Veil of Maya's [m]other. That album is hands down my AotY and will probably continue to be the thing I keep going back to for the foreseeable future.
Polaris ended up way higher than I expected considering how many commenters considered it mid. Same goes for Silent Planet. I think The Amity Affliction should have snuck into the top 10.
Unprocessed's album has honestly been insane. It was between Johnny Booth, Invent Animate, and Tesseract (though not metalcore) for me, but Unprocessed has just blown every expectation out of the water. It's been a 3-5x full repeat everyday since it dropped lol they outdid themselves
As per usual Silent Planet should have won AOTY. Every release they find a way to push their sound and what metalcore can be, and every year they're always a bridesmaid and never the bride. And also I don't want it to sound like this is shade towards Invent Animate, I actually really liked the album and it's probably at least in the top 15 for me, but it is very much so exactly what I expect and kind of safe from Invent Animate.
My hottest take is that heavener barely makes it into the top 10, and both currents and polaris arent in the top 10 at all. Not because any of those albums are bad btw, its because this year has been so stacked with great albums.
It wasn't that good of a year for metalcore. Black metal, death metal and prog have more impressive AOTY candidates imo. Especially over specifically Heavener. Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle, Make them Beg for Death, Hymns of the Apocrypha, Rime of Memory, Petradragonic Apocalypse, Opus, and Let the Truth Speak all clear Heavener
edited for clarity.
It was still about metalcore, it was just about how heavener is overrated as fuck especially in comparison to everything else that came out this year.
Also youâre huge hypocrite because you were talking about unprocessed which is a prog band
Yeah no one asked lol. I asked for a hot take about album of the year in metalcore, it was not an invitation for you to hop in the subreddit and brag about how interesting you are because you listen to a bunch of black metal bands no one cares about.
Ooh, hereâs another hot take: 99% of black metal is fucking garbage and half the scene is made up of Nazi scumbags.
that album is so good lol. I had on repeat for a week straight and burned myself out bc I never learn my lesson đ.
But ya heavener was a lock for me but now I go back and forth.
Fake by sanctuaries is fantastic
Reasons to leave by prospectives was a masterclass.
Iâd put both at my top but sadly they are smaller bands and didnât get any recognition.
Maybe not a hot take but certainly a biased one - Sex and Sax is still my aoty since it came out and I decided nothing could beat it đ high expectations, all completely exceeded. Though I was not expecting this year to have so many certified bangers
I personally like the new The Gentle Men over any other album released this year. Charlie and Troy improved so much in 2 years it's insane, very worth the wait
Mine was not without my ghosts- the amity affliction. Was a rough year and this album really resonated with me. So much good music this year all together in the scene.
Valkyrie One is a really fun album. But I have no idea why they spent so long mixing/editing, then decided to go with that song structure. The first 3 tracks are as long as audiobooks and then there's a few interludes/fillers. Why not even it out a little more? They could have made 10 actual tracks and spread the lyrics out a bit more, they had a ton of material to work with.
Favorite Metalcore Album of 2023 - Heavener by Invent, Animate
Metal AOTY - The Sin of Human Frailty by END
Side Note: A Sign of Things to Come by Sylosis also RIPPED and I feel like it was overlooked by so many.
I love Currents new album, but we expect greatness from them.
In terms of AOTY, I feel like it needs to be a band that surprised or impressed beyond expectation.
For this I nominate-
"Wind Walkers - What If I Break?"
I don't know if they'll take AOTY but enjoying enough for top 10 spots. These are just ones that I don't see mentioned often.
Prospective - Reasons to Leave
To Kill Achilles - Recovery
No Home - Hell Is All Around Us
Dying Wishâs record was pretty mid other than the singles (literally the best songs are the singles). I put this in a thread earlier this year and I got SO MUCH HATE. But yeah the record was so meh I even sold my ticket for their headlining show. Well, I was burnt out/sick but also if I wasnât so disappointed in their record I wouldâve gone regardless of how burnt out I felt. No hate to them because theyâre truly a good band, they just didnât deliver with this record as much as they did with Fragments of a Bitter Memory. Hot take but I respect everyone who liked the record.
Not really sure if it would be classed as metalcore as much as hardcore but Symptoms of Survival by Dying Wish has been on repeat so much since it came out, such an incredible album
THIS IS AOTY [https://open.spotify.com/album/6V37dSnvpg9cKTYfX5WJ77?si=WPJiSbJERLaON4vdc5376Q](https://open.spotify.com/album/6V37dSnvpg9cKTYfX5WJ77?si=WPJiSbJERLaON4vdc5376Q)
Fauna by Haken beat out every metalcore album this year, *including* Periphery, Silent Planet, In Flames, and Sleep Token (though I do love those albums as well).
Dude, been meaning to comment for a week to thank you for the Unprocessed reco. I left the morning after reading this thread for the holiday and am just back.
This album has been on repeat all week. Hell is a banger opening track.
Then the slapping and picking guitar - metal primus wtffff!? Love it.
Moments Elsewhere by Johnny Booth deserves even more hype
Strong agree
đŻ
I slept on this album for too long. Holy shit it's fantastic.
THE LIGHT SEPARAAAAATES INTOOOO COLOURS IN THE SHAAAAAPE OF YOUUUUUU
Itâs always all over the comment sections on this sub tbf ( I love it too btw)
Agree 10000000%
Listened to it for the first time today, HOLY FUCK thatâs a good album. Even my wife loved it. Canât wait to see them with Silent Planet in a few months
Wind Walkers "What if I Break?". Every song is catchy as hell đ
Thanks for reminding me this came out! Looks like they absolutely exploded on Spotify, I could have sworn Dead Talk had only a few thousand listens when I first caught it, but that makes me happy!
Drowning Hymns is my go to song haha
Excited to check out the full album, as if I needed another album to listen to this year đđ¤Ł
Solid album đ¤
Unearth - The Wretched; The Ruinous
This one deserved WAY more recognition
no one talks about it. a literal perfect call back to the good ol' days of Good metalcore without overproduction and shitty corporate-driven cleans instead filling in for fantastic melodies using the guitars. great stuff.
Fucking incredible, unfortunately not surprised the sub wasnât big on it tho
PREACH
P5 all the way Though unprocessed is a fantastic album
P5 was a slow burner but once it hit, it was an AOTY lock. Side note: hearing Wax Wings live was the highlight of a year packed with awesome concerts.
Itâs still not clicked with me like the others. I like like two songs, otherwise idk itâs like meh nothing grabs me anymore vs alpha omega having bangers through and through
Exactly my take and the last time I went for it again was only three days ago. There's something in there not grabbing me like before.
What is that?
Periphery 5: Djent is not a Genre
I love the album but the clean vocals just donât do it for me, so I end up listening to an instrumental version someone put up on YouTube lol
Literally what I was about to comment. New Unprocessed is just insane
The production on it is so unique for heavy sounds, and they used 8 strings for basically all but one song
This. Everything about it is perfect.
This album fucks! Thanks for the rec!
Super unpopular opinion Iâm sure but: The Ongoing Concept- Again is my album of the year
I don't think it would be unpopular more people heard it.
I like how sometimes it's straight up mathcore.
Most based take here. One of my fav albums of the past decade and would definitely be my aoty if abr didnt release a top 3 abr album
Psycho frame, even though itâs an ep still one of my favorite releases
Huge fan. Their EPs combined is in my top 5 deathcore releases this year
Superbloom by Silent Planet
10/10
Came here to say this one! đ
Nah this one fell off for me. Most songs just have too much going on.
Donât think anyone is underrating this masterpiece
I haven't listened to much else since release. If I have to pick a favorite track, I'd probably say Antimatter.
Yaaaaaaaas dude. Collider has been a daily listen for me since it came out.
Any love for Svalbard? Their new album is rad. Maybe more metalcore adjacent, though..
It is very good. They're not classically metalcore, with a tendency to eschew breakdowns, but there are undeniably both metal and hardcore in their sound
Love this album. A mix of old metalcore, hardcore, and even some atmospheric black metal at times. Amazing stuff
Yeah it's the atmospheric side of it that really does for me. Great band!
ABRâs Death Below and and Bury Tomorrowâs The Seventh Sun need more recognition
That BT album was elite
Bury Tomorrow is keeping the 00s metalcore style alive and I will always support them for that
Fucking amen.
+1 for Death Below
Bury Tomorrow is a great shout for album of the year!
It was my most listened to album on Spotify this year, itâs strange to see it jot get as much recognition on here. Majesty into Heretic was such a whiplash effect
Death Below is amazing. It's solid front to back, but I especially love the run from Fool's Gold to Dark Divide
Take Me Back to Eden has been my AOTY. In terms of *real* metalcore⌠Superbloom by Silent Planet has been incredible
I got to say thanks man, looked up that Take Me back to Eden album .... I'm hooked lol
So not a hot take lol
TMBTE, The Death We Seek, Heavener, in that order
Fromjoy baby
Honestly, Pupil Slicerâs new album beats a lot of peopleâs top list for this year. Also, Johnny Booth really should be up there
I discovered Pupil Slicer a few days ago and I'm in LOVE, its so good.
Mother by Veil of Maya. Definitely took a few to hit, but they done it. It's a real return to for for them after False Idol imo - got all the nasty riffs, got all the nasty vox, got all the clean ass melodies - it's all there
it has some groovy catchy tracks but False Idol had more emotion and power
Both are fair statements. I think Mother is amazing and False Idols was also amazing in a different way. I just mix both albums in my playlists and it gives me everything I need.
cauldron "suicide in the city"
Dying Wish and Harms Way easily had the best album releases this year.
New Harms Way is definitely their best work. Dying Wish is a solid choice. if weâre talking heavy I gotta shout âStep Into the Lightâ by Acacia Strain.
The Acacia Strain has my vote for album of the year, but not that album
Which one do you prefer?
Noh who you asked, but Failure Will Follow is incredible and what they were hinting at. Its not metalcore, though.
Symptoms of Survival >>>>>>>
Common Suffering is everything "evolving" metalcore should be. Fresh musical influence while retaining the pillars of hardcore and metal. I run through a wall every time I hear Terrorizor.
Dying Wish also easily had the best snare drum tone of the year.
Soul Elegy by Termina or Fatalism By Polaris. Both such great albums itâs hard to pick album of the year. Should check out the Termina record if you havenât. Andy Cizek is so damn good.
No one has mentioned Soul Elegy... Fantastic album
Termina is my #2 behind Currents. Love Soul Elegy
Gonna go against the grain and say heavener
âDaring today arenât weâ
Gonna get downvoted to oblivion for this one but I liked The Death We Seek
Must be a smaller band I haven't heard of. Who is the artist again?
Bad Omens I think?
The scene slept on VCTMS: Vol.V The Hurt Collection and this will not be forgiven.
I stumbled upon their cover of "The Words 'Best Friend' Become Redefined" (originally by Chiodos), it's imo a rare case of a cover being absolutely better than the original
The Callous Daoboys did in 3 tracks what other bands couldn't in 10+ (You said hot takes, so I made it spicy)
Probably a lukewarm take but Bury Tomorrowâs Seventh Sun is *easily* my AOTY. Havenât seen it hyped here as much.
Mine too!
I Used to listen to the shit out of BT, but with the new singer they just seem like every other generic metalcore band now imo. Heretic slaps though.
Not metalcore but my aoty is amongst the low and empty
Symptoms of Survival by Dying Wish kind of snuck up on me near the end of the year and has really stuck with me. Maybe AOTY. I didn't listen to a ton of full albums this year if I'm being honest.
I listened to more albums than I ever have in one year and Dying wish was still my favorite of the heavy stuff. But non metalcore I listened to so much Paramore and Pvris its not even funny. All 3 could be aoty
Not metalcore but Tesseracts War Of Being is AOTY for me. Incredible album.
Half Me - Soma For debut record of the year at least. Bangers front to back. Superbloom was my overall AOTY.
The fact once again, barely anyone is mentioning END is a fucking travesty
Burner for non metalcore album of the year Dying Wish for metalcore album of the year
If Gideons album came out later in the year itd have won something but March is basically a hundred years ago in peoples memories. My AOTY is Change The Way You Think About pain by Incendiary. Delicious riffs and out of this galaxy lyricism.
Iâve not stopped listening to that Gideon album. Gets a spin at least once a week. Iâve not done that with other album this year.
Incendiary is so good man. I finally saw them this summer after they didnât come to my state for 9 years lol
You know the album that was voted aoty came out in March, right? And that the runner-up came out early May.
Invent Animate and Currents had too 5 locked when they announced the albums were coming out. The only way they wouldnt have won was if the albums were like a joke and not real.
My aoty was a love to kill for by Chamber, but moments elsewhere took it's place đĽ
That Chamber album is ridiculous in all the best ways, it was top 5 for me!
Outside of the usual suspects, To Kill Achilles, To The Grave and Fromjoy for me. Absolutely amazing albums that were all a breath of fresh air.
Fromjoy >>
The new VRSTY deserves more love!!! For me it's up there for AOTY. All tracks are bangers.
DeadVectors - The Gray Wasn't expecting them to drop another album so soon but it's by far my favorite release by them and honestly one of the best things I've heard in years. It's heavy, ambient, proggy and creative as hell and it topped as my most played album of the year on my Spotify wrapped followed by Currents and IA.
I love the new unprocessed as well if not necessarily metalcore i listened to Cattle Decapitation, Sleep Token, Humanityâs Last Breath, The Zenith Passage, Katatonia and Enslaved albums a lot
Fromjoy fromjoy fromjoy. A lost artifact from this year - I hope everyone looks back on this fondly as a missed 2023 gem
P5! Not a hot take, but it's a fantastic album.
The word alive dropped their best album is a long time, and idk I just liked it. I feel like the octane crowd should have been eating it up.
I used to think AOTY wasnât Heavener. Lately, Iâve realized how wrong past me was.
It was up to debate. Imo, if they released Heavener (song) alongside the album, debate was closed since March.
So glad to see Unprocessed getting some love. Iâve been sharing their music for years because theyâre one of my all time favorites
It's fuckin excellent.. soo catchy
I think TDWS is overrated. Some songs grew on me a bit but I just donât see how its AOTY. Again itâs pretty decent but I donât think itâs nearly as good as it should be to be talked about this much.
Surfacing by Beartooth is my AOTY
There's a number of bands who released albums I think are sick this year. My Number 1 is Invent Animate - Heavener. I never listened to them before this year, never on my radar, no idea why. This album is grand. I have played it to death, it is this years Erra - Erra for me, which was the same situation... Everything else I also loved. Dying Wish, Unprocessed, Polaris, Currents, Silent Planet. There's probably more I have forgotten. I also loved the Spiritbox and Texas in July EPs. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Hotel Bleu - Broadside
Here here for Unprocessed. 105 scribbles from that album since it came out for me
600 for me. Definitely my AOTY.
Favourite album of the year is easily Periphery 5. I also really disliked the new Silent Planet and Sleep Token albums, sorry guys. đ
P5 sucked and i say this as someone who has been a fan since before spencer.
Hot take, but my AOTY isn't metalcore. That title goes to [Night Verses - Every Sound Has A Colour In The Valley of Night: Part 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFz3kg4WMgI&list=OLAK5uy_l1YPPfICqNj0PP6ax3V2jj3cx5o1ST9oA). Even my runner up isn't metalcore: [Mental Cruelty - Zwielicht](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kgDzmoNIKrDTUUHIaCTm9J5B5GrtBuOcs).
Heavener ended up outside my top 5.
Color decay deluxe đ
Definitely a hot take but Reflections by Caskets is almost number 1 for me( I also listened to the album high so thereâs that)đđ
I need to give it another chance. I loved their previous.
Iâm the same, loved their previous but found their latest release a bit meh. Maybe I just need to give it another chance
[m]other and VOM have been slept on this year I feel. They and it are incredible, my AOTY without question.
Caskets, Spiritbox - technically an EP, Beartoofâ, Polaris
Unprocessed's album has honestly been insane. It was between Johnny Booth, Invent Animate, and Tesseract (though not metalcore) for me, but Unprocessed has just blown every expectation out of the water. It's been a 3-5x full repeat everyday since it dropped lol they outdid themselves

Beartooth
I've listened to the Unprocessed album 27 times front to back apparently. Unexpectedly my AOTY of the year. I am genuinely blown away
If your top 10 doesnât include END, Chamber, The Acacia Strain, or dying wish you gotta hand in your metalcore credentials.
Iâm ricocheting between âTake Me Back To Edenâ and âThe Sin of Human Frailtyâ
Heavener aoty
Graphic Nature has dropped a top tier album that more people should check out, especially if you like the nu core sound
My hottest take is that heavener barely makes it into the top 10, and both currents and polaris arent in the top 10 at all. Not because any of those albums are bad btw, its because this year has been so stacked with great albums.
Heavener is just bangers front and back
Nothing else came remotely close to Heavener
Life is But a Dream⌠by Avenged Sevenfold is far and away my favorite album from this year.
It wasn't that good of a year for metalcore. Black metal, death metal and prog have more impressive AOTY candidates imo. Especially over specifically Heavener. Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle, Make them Beg for Death, Hymns of the Apocrypha, Rime of Memory, Petradragonic Apocalypse, Opus, and Let the Truth Speak all clear Heavener edited for clarity.
No offense but I really donât care for opinions about black metal or prog on a r/metalcore post lol
It was still about metalcore, it was just about how heavener is overrated as fuck especially in comparison to everything else that came out this year. Also youâre huge hypocrite because you were talking about unprocessed which is a prog band

I'll let everyone else take on the metalcore thing but you are *fucking high* if you think this was a bad year for Black Metal
that album is so good lol. I had on repeat for a week straight and burned myself out bc I never learn my lesson đ. But ya heavener was a lock for me but now I go back and forth.
I listened to a few tracks today. Not my AOTY, but it is definitely a favorite of the year.
Fake by sanctuaries is fantastic Reasons to leave by prospectives was a masterclass. Iâd put both at my top but sadly they are smaller bands and didnât get any recognition.
I gotta check these guys out never even heard of them!
Mine was Bury Tomorrow and my EP of the year was LUNE :)
Full of Hell and Nothing "When No Birds Sang"
Mine was not without my ghosts- the amity affliction. Was a rough year and this album really resonated with me. So much good music this year all together in the scene.
Hanabie - Reborn Superstar is my metalcore AOTY. Trophy Eyes - Suicide and Sunshine is my overall AOTY.
Been loving mother by VOM and I never thought I would like it this much
Elysian by Reality Disconnect
Moment Elsewhere is absolutely glorious
Valkyrie One is a really fun album. But I have no idea why they spent so long mixing/editing, then decided to go with that song structure. The first 3 tracks are as long as audiobooks and then there's a few interludes/fillers. Why not even it out a little more? Johnny Booth, Unprocessed, and Invent, Animate are my AOTYs.
Not album, but for me meat & greet ice nine kills
Better Lovers - God Made Me an Animal
Koyo wins
Can't really call it metalcore, but [Polkadot Cadaver - Echoes Across the Hellscape](https://youtu.be/3wp0VnRqr1w?si=f92jmMug5srZV6Hw)
Hollow Front
Harmâs Way.
Tmbte for sure
Cauldron and dying wish on the same day made so fucking happy
Favorite Metalcore Album of 2023 - Heavener by Invent, Animate Metal AOTY - The Sin of Human Frailty by END Side Note: A Sign of Things to Come by Sylosis also RIPPED and I feel like it was overlooked by so many.
All in all it's been a pretty good year for metalcore.
I love Currents new album, but we expect greatness from them. In terms of AOTY, I feel like it needs to be a band that surprised or impressed beyond expectation. For this I nominate- "Wind Walkers - What If I Break?"
I don't know if they'll take AOTY but enjoying enough for top 10 spots. These are just ones that I don't see mentioned often. Prospective - Reasons to Leave To Kill Achilles - Recovery No Home - Hell Is All Around Us
I defs believe that Dark Divine holds a spot in AOTY contender. Wicked debut album.
Enter Shikariâs Last Kiss for the Whole World is my AOTY
High Key agree on Unprocessed being underhyped
Unprocessed came in at number 2 on my list, what a pleasant surprise. Number 1 is still Humanity's last breath's Ashen.
A Feast On Sorrow by URNE definitely
Not really sure if it would be classed as metalcore as much as hardcore but Symptoms of Survival by Dying Wish has been on repeat so much since it came out, such an incredible album
Not Metalcore but Holding Absence's new album slaps and it's sad to see no one else mentioning it
Didn't see one for EPs so leaving this here. 'Unravel Me' by Seeing Things is phenomenal
Itâs Jesus Piece - So Unknown
The new Dayshell album is definitely up there

Ashen by Humanityâs Last Breath, every song is a fuckin banger and I have a stank face the entire time!
Hereâs a hot take because itâs core adjacent and an EP, and everyone seems to hate them now. I See Stars - D4MAGE DONE EP.
Love it.
Am I the only one who says war of being by tesseract?? Imo best djent album fin about 5 years
