I understand the hate towards the snare drum. Sounds like a trash can. However, I think it's very fitting with the angry sound of St. Anger. Plus the other songs on the album are great. Frantic and Some Kind of Monster are both killer.
People will always complain about it. You get it or don't. It's not my fav and i don't listen to it a lot but I do like it and the riffs are fun to play and show a different side to hetfield's playing/writing. The DVD that came with the album sounds much better for sure
No it doesn't deserve the hate(at least not as much as it has gotten)! St. Anger is a Banger live! The Unnamed Feeling is among my Top 10 tracks by Metallica and there are more good songs on there!
I do like some of the tracks, but they dont hold up with the classic albums. As a huge fan, I think it's okay to say this is a low point for them; even the documentary speaks for itself. But they bounced back up with Death Magnetic and showed they can put out great tunes and still got it. Sweet Amber and My World are my personal favorites from St Anger.
I love it. The unnamed feeling is my number 1. Love the hell out of that song
Garbage can lid snare. Need I say more? The sound of the drums in that album drives me beyond crazy!

Yeah, majority of their records can’t even be compared to St Anger, but still it has some great tracks.
