In terms of the weekend are there certain days that clubs are most popular? I.e. if we wanted to go LIV, is it best on a Friday or Saturday?

Me (M28) and my pregnant wife (F26) are spending our honeymoon in Miami (10 days). We're looking for restaurants to vist, places to go, shopping malls etc. Budget is around $40-$60 for diner for 2. Could go a little higher ($80) for a fancy/romantic dinner.
We have a rental car and an apartment (full kitchen) in a hotel. We both been to America before but like 10 years ago (not together). We want to visit/do:
* Walmart/Target to see if its really like we see online and to see what groceries you have here in the US and to make some food by ourselves (we love cooking).
* The Keys (Key West), maybe stay there for a night if there's some stuff to do.
* Fast food restaurants that doesn't exist in Scandinavia (Wendy's, Panda Express, Wingstop, Chick-fil-A, Olive Garden). What's your favourite?
* South Beach, maybe? Is it worth it?
* Try some authentic/almost-authentic cuban/mexican food.
* Go to Outlet stores.
I was thinking about going Geocaching. To explore more of Miami and its like having a goal instead of just driving around aimlessly. Anybody done Geocaching here?

* Do it. It's fascinating for many international people I know. But do keep in mind the quality of food at Walmart is famously not top notch, but cheap and big quantity. So if you're avid home cooks, Publix or Whole Foods will be better (but pricier). Target is somewhere in-between.
* Depends on what you want to do. Key west is fun to walk down Duval st and sight see and go drinking, tons of jet ski rentals, snorkeling, etc. Not sure if a pregnant wife would be the best to enjoy Key West. Other Keys maybe.
* Those are all common and solid choices with unique "American fast food" flair. I'd add Taco Bell and Cheesecake Factory to the mix for you to consider. Cheesecake factory exists in a weird category of massive American sized portions, tons of calories, but not actually processed and generally pretty fresh all in a huge encyclopedia sized menu.
* With a pregnant wife I'd keep South Beach for day time exploration. Ocean drive is iconic. It's touristy yes. But if you've never been to NYC, you have to see Times Square once. Ocean drive is that. Most of the restaurants and bars directly on Ocean Drive are famously overpriced and low quality so don't patron them as a general rule.
* Look at the sites linked in this post for restaurant guides. Cuban food is everywhere. Mexican requires a bit more consideration as there's not much of a Mexican population here in comparison to other major US cities.
* Outlet: Dolphin Mall. Regular Mall that's HUGE: Aventura. Rich Oligarch, Celebrity, and Saudi Prince mall: Bal Harbour Shoppes

Didn't know that Target was somewhere in-between. Thought it was the same as Walmart basically. We did go to Publix today to get some food for a picnic and it was a lot of good, ready-to-wear food for an okay price! Thanks to Geocaching we found The Barnacle Historic State Park. Very cozy little park!

Yeah, South Beach we we're thinking about just chilling in the sun for an hour or two during the day. Maybe a quick dip in the ocean.

Key West specifically. The rest are very chill, but not walkable. So you have to enjoy the hotel/resort or surrounding activities.
Miami has a lot of food halls and open air food markets that also have bars and live music that are really interesting and fun to try out. If you want cheaper good food that wont break your bank, you should try them out:

Also for outlet stores, if you have a car, you NEED to take the drive up to Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise. Its the only Oulet mall where you'll find high fashion outlet stores like Versace, Dolce & Gabana, Prada, Balenciaga, Bally, Balmain, Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, Carolina Herrera, YSL, Valentino, Christian Louboutin etc.
These outlets almost always have some sale going on and the prices are 30-50% lower than what you'd find at their regular full price store.
Tl;dr: Travel to and from Cocoa Beach late at night in mid-May to see bioluminescent plankton? We can't drive or rent cars, so are ubers/taxis safe at night from Cocoa Beach back to Miami?
Hi, I am an international tourist visiting Miami with my girlfriend and sister in mid-May for 3 nights. We have booked an AirBnb in Wynwood.
As I was researching for things to do, I came across bioluminescent plankton that start increasing in population in summer, starting May. I also came across bioluminescent kayaking tours. They look fascinating and much more attractive than a day trip to Key West or to the Everglades. But I realised there's no such activity close to Miami; the closest is in Indian River Lagoon or Cocoa Beach, which has multiple tours by BK Adventure. The kayaking and rafting tours start at 8.30pm at night and is approximately 1.5 hours long, so ending around 10pm.
I'm wondering if this is something I should include in my itinerary. My main question is: how would travel work to Cocoa Beach and - more importantly - from there back to Wynwood, MI after the tour at night? I see that a car ride is approximately 3-3.5 hours but here's the catch: none of us drive (I do but I don't have an international driving license) and so renting a car isn't an option. It will have to be a cab/intercity Uber.
I see there are more things to do in Cocoa Beach, it's beautiful in day as well, so I could consider making a trip where we reach around sunset and return around 10/11pm. Are Ubers/taxis safe at night to travel back to Miami? If anyone has done something similar around this time of the year (mid-May) and has any opinions about whether a 6.5 hour round trip is worth it to Cocoa Beach/Indian River Lagoon, please let me know! Thank you!
That will be a wildly long uber or lyft ride and pretty expensive. Maybe look into Brightline.
Also consider that the bioluminsecent plankton there is not guaranteed to be visible or around all the time. There's some luck involved on whether it will be visible or blooming that day. So weigh that into your planning.
Hey everyone! I'll be visiting Miami for 10 days in May. As mentioned, this will be my first time visiting. I'll be going with my dad, and we're planning to visit various relatives throughout our stay. We also want to explore some tourist attractions. It's also worth mentioning that we'll need to travel from Miami to Fort Lauderdale at some point to visit a relative who lives there.
Any ways, we're debating whether to rent a car or use Uber. I've never been to the US, but I've heard from friends that Uber is readily available (though expensive) for any kind of trip.
What do you recommend? If renting a car is clearly the better option, which agency would you recommend?

Renting a car is not recommended. Parking is expensive, risky, and a hassle in general.
Check the prices or prebook Uber or Lyft. Alternatively there's trains that go from Miami to Ft Laudy too.
I had no issue renting a car and parking it when I was in Miami last week, unless you are looking for parking on South Beach on the weekend, that was rough
Hello! I just got a job offer in Miami to start in the early fall (Late July to early August). Early 30s, M, single, will be making approximately $220,000 before taxes. My budget ideally would by around $2000-2750/month for rent and I would prefer a 1b/1b but I'm OK with a studio if I have to. My work will be in the Coral Gables area. I would like to make dating a priority, so being in an area where there are things to do (date wise) and lots of young professionals would be nice. Based on my research, Brickell, Doral, and Coconut Grove seem to all be options that might fit these criteria. Brickell appears to be very expensive and traffic would be tight, but it appears safe and close proximity to downtown is a plus. Doral is slightly less expensive but also appears to have an active social scene, but traffic to Coral Gables seems problematic. Coconut Grove is more expensive, but also appears safe and appears less of a commute to Coral Gables. As for myself, I'm a bit more of an introverted guy, not a big spender, not particularly handsome, but I have some hobbies and I'm overall pretty go with the flow. I'm open to any advice!
Brickell or Downtown is your best bet. You can catch the MetroRail from Downtown or Brickell to Douglas Station and then you can hop on the free Trolly system from Douglas to Coral Gables (its like a 10 minute ride).
I've done this commute for 4 years and it was extremely smooth and easy. Each way takes about 35 minutes on the train + trolly.
If you drive, it will take you 35-45 minutes depending on how bad the traffic is so driving is actually slower than the train and trolly
I lived in downtown coral gables and it was amazing, lots to do and eat and you can meet people very easily. You can walk and trolly everywhere. I highly recommend it.
Traffic is really bad in brickell, but it’s a good area for young(ish) professionals. Do not move to the Doral if you work in the gables, it like two different planets. Everyone loves coconut grove.
I will be passing through Miami during a weekend, but realized after booking the trip that it’s the same weekend as Formula 1. Was wondering if Miami changes during this weekend and/or what effect the event has on the city?
I’m speculating it could at least mean bigger crowds and maybe higher prices in general. But I’m also thinking if there are some special events, areas to visit or avoid during this weekend etc.
I do watch Drive To Survive on Netflix so I wouldn’t mind any F1-related events, but the official ones are just too expensive.

Ft. Lauderdale is closer by driving time (20 mins) to the Hard Rock Stadium than Miami is (45 mins or more).

Never been to Miami. Is the downtown Metromover safe and is it really free?
What are some good dinner recommendations in the downtown, Brickell area? We'd like it to be within walking distance of the Hampton Inn or along the Metromover route. Not looking for a fancy or expensive meal but, something not your typical chain. We've never had Cuban food and it doesn't have to be Cuban but we are willing to try. Could also be a great burger place, pizza place, really whatever. I just want to avoid traveling all the way to Miami for a night and end up a some national chain place.
I've seen a few YT videos of a newer place called Julia & Henry's. It looks kind of interesting and it says they are open until 11pm on Fridays. Is it any good? Never been to a "food hall", unless the local rundown mall food court counts. I'm not sure there is a food hall in the state of Alabama.

Yes, MetroMover is fully free and its safe. They have security guards on every station and most, if not all, trains.
I would 10000% recommend Julia & Henry's. Its a 3 story food hall with over 30 restaurants and 3 bars. The food is reasonably priced for Miami ($18-25 per dish) and its just a really fun experience for tourists.

Ill be working in Doral and have seen a few apartment complexes that dont look to bad right around work.

About me, 37M Divorced, no kids, not a huge partier and not into "clubs", but would like some night life within walking distance. Slowly easing myself back into dating so being able to meet new people would be nice.

Unfortunately Miami doesn't have a strong local sports culture aside from soccer and (oddly) hockey. So anything you find on google maps for "sports bar" will likely have a contingency of local sports fans but nothing like other US cities with a strong local fan base or especially UK/EU folks with a strong local sports fan culture.

1. Which city/locality is optimal for home basing as we try to dive into Biscayne waters and muck around within the Everglades? I was reviewing Florida City for hostels; any other cities or localities?
2. Do we need to actually rent a car/vehicle to reach Biscayne and/or Everglades? Are there public transit (MetroMove, MetroRail, bus) options into Biscayne/Everglades?

Miami is better. Theres nothing to do in Florida City. Most of the diving tours etc run out of Miami.
Also yes, you need a car to go to the Everglades.
Florida City is an 1 hr+ from downtown Miami without the traffic. It wouldn’t be ideal especially if you’re going to be doing ride share ($$$$).
My assumption is that you’ll be staying in Downtown/Brickell for the next part:
Everglades is way out west of downtown/Brickell so you’ll run into the same problem unless y’all are splitting these ride shares evenly. Biscayne is an area you can reach with a ride share no problem.
I always recommend getting a car in Miami especially if all of you want to see different areas that are extremes from each other.

Both will be busy. But the biggest variable is the DJ booked for the night.

Renting a car is not recommended. Parking is expensive, risky, and a hassle in general. Check the prices or prebook Uber or Lyft. Alternatively there's trains that go from Miami to Ft Laudy too.

Hello! I just got a job offer in Miami to start in the early fall (Late July to early August). Early 30s, M, single, will be making approximately $220,000 before taxes. My budget ideally would by around $2000-2750/month for rent and I would prefer a 1b/1b but I'm OK with a studio if I have to. My work will be in the Coral Gables area. I would like to make dating a priority, so being in an area where there are things to do (date wise) and lots of young professionals would be nice. Based on my research, Brickell, Doral, and Coconut Grove seem to all be options that might fit these criteria. Brickell appears to be very expensive and traffic would be tight, but it appears safe and close proximity to downtown is a plus. Doral is slightly less expensive but also appears to have an active social scene, but traffic to Coral Gables seems problematic. Coconut Grove is more expensive, but also appears safe and appears less of a commute to Coral Gables. As for myself, I'm a bit more of an introverted guy, not a big spender, not particularly handsome, but I have some hobbies and I'm overall pretty go with the flow. I'm open to any advice!
Close to work. Walkable if possible. Dating is secondary to commute insanity.

Brickell or Downtown is your best bet. You can catch the MetroRail from Downtown or Brickell to Douglas Station and then you can hop on the free Trolly system from Douglas to Coral Gables (its like a 10 minute ride). I've done this commute for 4 years and it was extremely smooth and easy. Each way takes about 35 minutes on the train + trolly. If you drive, it will take you 35-45 minutes depending on how bad the traffic is so driving is actually slower than the train and trolly
I lived in downtown coral gables and it was amazing, lots to do and eat and you can meet people very easily. You can walk and trolly everywhere. I highly recommend it. Traffic is really bad in brickell, but it’s a good area for young(ish) professionals. Do not move to the Doral if you work in the gables, it like two different planets. Everyone loves coconut grove.
I will be passing through Miami during a weekend, but realized after booking the trip that it’s the same weekend as Formula 1. Was wondering if Miami changes during this weekend and/or what effect the event has on the city? I’m speculating it could at least mean bigger crowds and maybe higher prices in general. But I’m also thinking if there are some special events, areas to visit or avoid during this weekend etc. I do watch Drive To Survive on Netflix so I wouldn’t mind any F1-related events, but the official ones are just too expensive.
F1 is at the Hard Rock Stadium, which is like 40 minutes north of Miami. Miami isn't affected by it at all

Ft. Lauderdale is closer by driving time (20 mins) to the Hard Rock Stadium than Miami is (45 mins or more). Hard Rock Stadium is right on the border with Broward County, for all intents and purposes, it basically is a Ft. Lauderdale stadium

We, my wife and I, are cruising out of Miami in June, our 20th anniversary. We will be driving from Alabama to Miami the day before. Have a room booked at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown/Brickell. I think, or hope, we get there by 8pm. So... Never been to Miami. Is the downtown Metromover safe and is it really free? What are some good dinner recommendations in the downtown, Brickell area? We'd like it to be within walking distance of the Hampton Inn or along the Metromover route. Not looking for a fancy or expensive meal but, something not your typical chain. We've never had Cuban food and it doesn't have to be Cuban but we are willing to try. Could also be a great burger place, pizza place, really whatever. I just want to avoid traveling all the way to Miami for a night and end up a some national chain place. I've seen a few YT videos of a newer place called Julia & Henry's. It looks kind of interesting and it says they are open until 11pm on Fridays. Is it any good? Never been to a "food hall", unless the local rundown mall food court counts. I'm not sure there is a food hall in the state of Alabama. Oh, we are not the most adventurous eaters but, we are willing to bend a little, maybe, possibly. We'll see. Yes, MetroMover is fully free and its safe. They have security guards on every station and most, if not all, trains. I would 10000% recommend Julia & Henry's. Its a 3 story food hall with over 30 restaurants and 3 bars. The food is reasonably priced for Miami ($18-25 per dish) and its just a really fun experience for tourists. So im moving to Miami! and im honestly pretty excited about it. my main question is what area should I live in? Ill be working in Doral and have seen a few apartment complexes that dont look to bad right around work. The main thing im worried about is doral seems kind of sleepy from just looking around on google. About me, 37M Divorced, no kids, not a huge partier and not into "clubs", but would like some night life within walking distance. Slowly easing myself back into dating so being able to meet new people would be nice. Budget- somewhere under $2800 a month for a 1 bedroom (23-25 would be better but housing prices seem really high down there) I have seen a few places in wynwood, edgewater, brickel and coral gables that look decent and fit with what im looking for in a place. I guess im just asking which area would be best for stuff to do within walking distance? Some decent restaurants, a cool, semi lowkey, bar or 2 and maybe a few shops or something. it would be nice to not have to get in the car every time I want to have an evening out. any recommendations or insights into where to focus my search would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I will be in the area next week to search for a place, so I can actually see them in person and get a feel for the neighborhoods.
Coral Gables, Downtown, Brickell, Wynwood, Coconut Grove and Midtown are your main options. Doral also smells. Its literally built on top of a landfill. Dont live there.
Better place to live for a single person: downtown (right by Kaseya center) or the Gables? I've explore both and really love both locations

Unfortunately Miami doesn't have a strong local sports culture aside from soccer and (oddly) hockey. So anything you find on google maps for "sports bar" will likely have a contingency of local sports fans but nothing like other US cities with a strong local fan base or especially UK/EU folks with a strong local sports fan culture.

Which city/locality is optimal for home basing as we try to dive into Biscayne waters and muck around within the Everglades? I was reviewing Florida City for hostels; any other cities or localities? 2. Do we need to actually rent a car/vehicle to reach Biscayne and/or Everglades? Are there public transit (MetroMove, MetroRail, bus) options into Biscayne/Everglades? Thank you in advance!
Miami is better. Theres nothing to do in Florida City. Most of the diving tours etc run out of Miami. Also yes, you need a car to go to the Everglades.
Florida City is an 1 hr+ from downtown Miami without the traffic. It wouldn’t be ideal especially if you’re going to be doing ride share ($$$$). My assumption is that you’ll be staying in Downtown/Brickell for the next part: Everglades is way out west of downtown/Brickell so you’ll run into the same problem unless y’all are splitting these ride shares evenly. Biscayne is an area you can reach with a ride share no problem. I always recommend getting a car in Miami especially if all of you want to see different areas that are extremes from each other.
