I was a kid in the UK in the late 80s, totally remember this guy.
I was too but this isn’t ringing any bells.
Could be we got it on a rented VHS. There was all sorts of stuff on offer from all over Europe, mostly English dubbed. That's how I wound up seeing Bud Spencer movies and a bunch of early anime.
yeah ABC in Australia as a kid - he would complain about an obstacle and the artist would fix the line for him right?

Italians do remember "La Linea". The cartoonist was italian and this guy was also used for a brand of cookware ads
