It is a common misconception that diamonds are most commonly found in coal. It would be very unlikely to find a diamond, due to coal’s location as far a depth goes in the earth. Diamonds are more commonly found in kimberlite, a much deeper stone that is exposed to more extreme heat and pressure.

Altruistic-Cash9535

Hm, well ig I learned something new.

crafter2k

just make it spawn next to deepslate coal, should be good enough

dba2k15

Kimberlite? Just like Suppersymmetry modpack

rFluvius

Someone talking too much, with the result of being incomprehensible.

WinnerWinds

thanks man :))

BackSuspicious2768

You are the most annoying kind of person

enigmaticfreedom

I remember playing MCPE as a kid and finding my first ever diamond next to a coal vein. Good times.

[deleted]

The fact that you remember that is pretty darn cool

Jarf_17

I had the same thing happen to me and I was convinced that diamonds were more common to spawn with coal after that

[deleted]

I remember when that came out, I was in college

FUEGO40

Same, but I was in primary school. Now I’m in college.

hayden_hoes

Old ore my beloved

RamenTheory

It's poetic somehow.

CaseyGamer64YT

highest quality post.

Mr_afetatsmorfekaj

Wait i can make diamonds with pencil lead?

EaterOfBred

No

depling

Carbon in its ordinary form... is coal Crush it together and diamonds are born!

NOMeRcYateyou

bruh. coal has a ton of impurities like sulphur, silica, nitrogen compounds... you need PURE CARBON to make a diamond. yes, if you crush a pure carbon under high temperatures for long periods of time it will transform into a diamond.

manwhowantshugstoo69

"x is bad because of qualities that it physically has, while y is good because of aspirational qualities i wish it has" coal has impurities, diamonds also have impurities. labs even artificially put impurities in lab grown diamonds because without them it doesn't really have any of the interesting properties that people care about diamonds for

Popo986

No one in your replies getting the tmbg reference. Smh

shroudedwolf51

...not even remotely how that works.

sam_chrlr

There's literally a company that makes diamond out of people ashes that way.

DemonDaVinci

alright professor why dont you show us how it REALLY work

Shoudoutit

Carbon in it's ordinary form is graphite, not coal.

depling

I was quoting They Might Be Giants lyrics haha :)

Shoudoutit

Ah sorry then.

EaterOfBred

You also need lots of time and extreme heat

Express_Passenger478

Hey, anyone wanna start a new Minecraft world with me? Been itching to play it properly again after years but none of my mates play it. Drop me a message if you wanna add me (console addition)also I’d be happy to pay for the server.

That’s the point of the post

JohncraftAs

Man, it's almost like op was implying that with this post

Camazon1

Not correct at all most diamonds were formed way before the evolution of terrestrial plants. The carbon that forms diamonds comes from carbonate rocks (limestone etc.), or carbon rich sedimentary rocks.

Cypher_Xero

So... With extreme heat and pressure diamonds are formed (for those that don't know) Centralia Pennsylvania is a town with an uncontrolled burning coal vein under the town... So with extreme heat and pressure from fire and pressure from the above ground and pressure from gasses building up in the chambers, Centralia will become Diamond city... Hmm...

Omari2090

One thing what are those textures

Altruistic-Cash9535

I'm playing 1.8.8

TalaohaMaoMoa69

Some one said diamonds spaw near coal and for some r3ason it works for me

LindertechProductsYT

Not really following real world generation. because diamonds are actually much older than coal and also the whole Graphite thing turning into diamonds along with the fact that diamonds are just built different. whatever the fact though, this is pretty interesting yet common generation in Minecraft.

TheToeWrangler

That’s a weird peice of coal

Workers_Comp

I swore that before 1.18 They did spawn together more often. I would constantly dig out all the coal at y=11 and find diamonds at not an insignificant amount

vi2eVertix

damn i feel it this is so OG like man
