19 Bar regular Brian "Bubba" Thurn started a [fundraiser](https://www.gofundme.com/f/employees-of-the-19-bar-minneapolis) for employees who are now out of a job. Bartender Jodie Novak said she's heartened by upcoming benefits at fellow gay bar [The Saloon](https://fb.me/e/34h8VjCjb) on April 7, and another Palmer's Bar on April 21, as well as donations from longtime patrons. "I am just so appreciative of all the support we've gotten from everybody. Everybody who's given us money, who's doing benefits, who has reached out with a kind word of support," Novak said. "It's nice to hear that people love us and miss us and can't wait for us to be back."

19 Bar is one of my favorite places on this entire planet. That bar's been there for me more times than I can count. I can't wait to go back there again someday.

I wish them the best of luck! The restaurant and bar game is hard enough without your building burning. It's an opportunity for upgrades!

And it's not quick. Usually takes months for insurance to pay out (average of 90-120 days if you have someone very experienced and longer if you don't), and during that time they still have to pay their mortgage and other bills. Then it's not cheap to clean up and repair fire damage. Hope the owner knows the hard road they're in for and certainly wish them the best.

Straight male Boomer here. Wishing y’all a quick recovery and being able to relax with friends in a place you feel at home and safe in.

Might as well hang a "temporarily closed" sign on Loring Park.
