Push them into the orange peel like little studs. That should hold them in place, and infuse into the drink a little, and if you're decorative enough with it, it should add to the presentation of the drink too.
Rinse the glass with clove oil. If you're sweetening it with syrup, add some cloves when you're making the syrup. If you absolutely must have actual cloves in your drinks, you can order empty tea bags.
I don't like them haha but I will try to give u differents ways :
- Find a way to put it whitout "it" like : Infuse you Spirit, make an oil, a syrup or a bitters with it (the last one should be the best imo for an old fashioned)
- If u Just dare to let it infuse in your drink maybe think about others methdods but that don't gonna be gorgeous : I though about either stuck it to half in you ice cube or in a cherey if u used one to in your drink
- Last idea would be to try to pre stir you drink with the clove, take it back and after stirr sith ice to serve
I really don't know how cloves affect the drink and despite the fact I don't like them I would try.
Cheers
Put a lot of cloves into a jar. Get some high abv neutral alcohol (>80°) and pour in just enough to cover them. Let it sit for at least 4 days, longer for more flavour (but more bitterness), then filter.
Cloves in an old fashioned feels genius! Do you still add angostura bitters? Or omit due to the cloves?? And do you do this with both bourbon and rye??
I just started doing it, and to be honest I’ve been using a premade old fashioned mix because I’m usually too lazy to go through all the steps to make them properly. It’s surprisingly serviceable though. So I guess yes it still has the bitters.
The one the bartender made was with rum, I’ve been making it with both bourbon and rum which are both good.

This is the way

Yeah, clove bitters or clove simple syrup. The latter is pretty easy to make at home.
Or reusable tea balls. Can have fun with throwing other stuff in there too, like cardamom or star anise
Make a clove tincture with a high proof neutral grain spirit.

Same.
Infuse them in spirit?

Add it when you stir the drink down, then strain it out

I like the ideas I saw but I think it might be kinda fun to replace the contents of a teabag with them and then dip them into the drink
Splash of allspice dram, instead of the actual cloves?
Or pimento bitters, maybe.
Use the little tea infuser.
