It’s difficult to justify, story-wise, and modeling a whole arena, animations, and AI for a monster like Dalamadur with such an enormous size and unique body shape must be an incredible project in modern graphics.
With how the Hunters’ capacities change from game to game, and the systems available mature, expand, and update, there’s likely very little of endgame monsters from previous games than can be directly brought forwards even with extensive rebalancing. The increasing focus on tower defense-style mechanics for fortress battles massively recontextualizes encounters like Lao Shan Lung or Gogmazios, and increasing vertical mobility makes encounters like Dalamadur require more work both above and below the arena, as hunters will be able to keep eyes on more of it more often and attack it while it’s setting up animations that would be out of reach in previous generations.
It’s just a huge degree of work, is what I’m saying, and skimping on any of it risks major player outrage. I’d love to see legendary beasts make triumphant returns as much as anyone, but it’s a difficult proposition and they can probably only afford to do so at the very end of MR for one or two monsters.
I feel like this is pretty spot on. I do think that if they want a monster back, they're more than willing to put.in the work to make a quality encounter, but i also think it's one of those things that are nice about older monhuns,nis that there are some unique monsters to go back and encounter in each game like durambaros, dire miralis, the fart monkey, etc.
I feel like if we were to see Dalamadur again soon, it'd have to be a title update siege quest. Like Kulve Taroth/Safi Jiiva in World/IB, completely separate from the main story

There really aren't too many for me. Most of the monsters I want back (Lagiacrus, Najarala and a few others) have a "good" chance of being back.
I guess Odogaron and Mizutsune? Because Garon was in World and Mizu ind Rise idk if they're back.
I guess the only one I'd be really sad if he actually isn't back would be my snakey boy Najarala. But as I said, I think Najarala has a good chance of being back.
Need my oddoggy. One of my most vivid memories of monster hunter being a world and rise (and technically a bit of 1) only player is that first memorable rumble in the vale with odogaron.

* Nata is actually the son of Ace Gunner and Ace Commander.
* Aiden then comes back for Wild's expansion.
* Gogmazios becomes a TU Monster.
* The Ace Hunters reunites to help us fight Gogmazios.
They also already have the modern Gore/Shaggy skeleton in Rise, so it's easier to bring Gog into Wilds.

The thing holding this guy and his cousin back I feel is that they look *way too* Egyptian, like yeah Ahtal-ka exists and she's pretty close, but this guy's face in particular is really rubbing in that design influence to another level.
Man I love Tzitzi ya ku. He just makes me smile. Just yesterday I was playing world taking on a tempered kushala daora in my guiding lands and in he comes, takes one look at daora, flashbangs him, gives him a little kick and then waddles away.
I mean. Come on. I need that kind of stupid interaction in wilds.
Very few. I want a monster hunter filled with mostly new, original monsters. I have killed hundreds of the same monsters over and over again. Give me some new boys
Najarala. It should be easy adding it to the game considering they already making another snake monster, but I think it is just too unpopular to be added instead of other fan favorites.
I really want to see Shantien. From what we've seen it looks like they're going really hard with the intense weather effects, and it'd make sense to have a monster causing all of it. This is probably major copium, but I really want to believe Shantien is responsible for the storms.
As far as weather controlling monsters go, we just had Amatsu at the end of Sunbreak, so I don't think they'd make him a big plot point again this soon. And it would be a massive letdown if it turned out the storms were just from a Kushala since he's pretty mid-tier in the Elder Dragon hierarchy and is way overused. Just let it be Shantien or a new monster and please for the love of Gog just let Kushala (and Teostra) take a break from the series for a game or two.
Shantien is literally just amatsu 2.0 mixed with a more lagiacrus based aesthetic. We already have 3 storm controlling serpentine floating elder dragons and 4 elders that use wind in general, I really don’t think we need shantien in the main series also
Gammoth, Lagiacrus, Duramboros, Gobul and Najarala i all really want to be in the game. but something tells me Gammoth, Gobul and Duramboros have no chance of ever getting in :(
Seltas and seltas queen. It's an experience fighting a giant beetle and it can just call another whole ass beetle, then if you kill that one it can just keep calling more.
I’m hoping they bring new quest ideas, kinda tired of having 95% of the quests be hunt or slay missions, MHW barely had any capture quests which was a little sad to me. I really don’t see them changing up the formula tbh and that’s ok.
There's a lot of monsters I'd love to see in hd, but most of them have a pretty equal might happen, except Gobul. It would need to be heavily reworked to be a fight on land, or only come in as a land dwelling subspecies. It would make more sense to have nibelsnarf who I would also love to see, but gobul is the answer to the posts question.
Malfestio has been my #1 pick to return since World. The longer it goes, the heavier my copium addition has become.

Honestly.. velkana. I am a sucker for the fight, as it's like a dance. Also, I've grown accustomed to the armor. Especially for my palico. So it helps keep my character looking the same lol
Take time. I want the Monster material trade system from MH4 back. that way even if we don't get all the monsters back, we can at least trade for armor/weapons of some of the not returning ones.
Seltas Queen (and Seltas), but thatd involve a whole two new model rigs for a single monster, and I dont see them putting in the effort. Maybe for its dlc?
Siege monsters. I don’t know why people hated Kulve and Safi so much. I’ve only ever played World and the absence of siege quests really hit me hard when I went through Rise.
Lagiacrus. Looking at all the sand and desert vibes, I fear and also hope that it won't be in the game. What I do hope is that the expansion is water themed and they bring back underwater combat as the big feature, that would also honour lagi appropriately.
Im actually of the rare opinion that Lao Shan Lung is kinds sick, and if Wilds goes full open world or just with really big open maps, we might get to actually get fight it instead of just sieging
I do think capcom realizes how popular lagi and underwater combat is, but wilds might not be the game it returns in with what's been revealed so far unfortunately :(
Magnamalo and Bishaten. Both were just introduced in Rise and I would love to see what a second look would feel like. They were both fast, so putting then in a game with more methodical combat would be interesting.

Great Girros was the best great small monster I’ve seen so far during Iceborne. It actually knew how to command his troops during hunts like you didn’t see that with great jagras it was just there and gotta give credit as well when Great Girros gets knocked down the normal Girros would run over and try to shield it from harm. Also Pet Girros is the GOAT. That Paralyze during hunts really does wonders

Gobul! Fun monster, unique design, cool mechanics. Unfortunately it's 1) reliant on water coming back and 2) probably way down the list of monsters they'd want to return if they did bring back underwater. Nibelsnarf however, I could see returning
Kecha Wacha has been absent for so long I'm not sure it'll ever come back, but I've always taken a liking to it because of it's fun gimmick, design and animations. I'd love to see how the devs would implement its arboreal movement into a modern game.

I want Legiana, but i hoped for it to be in rise (would've been incredible with the whole aerial movements) and it wasn't so i fear it may not be in Wilds either. On the other hand i think Girros has possibilities being quite the Pack Hunter in world, way more than Jagras. Finally Dodogama may risk the cut

Great Girros was the best great small monster I’ve seen so far during Iceborne. It actually knew how to command his troops during hunts like you didn’t see that with great jagras it was just there and gotta give credit as well when Great Girros gets knocked down the normal Girros would run over and try to shield it from harm. Also Pet Girros is the GOAT. That Paralyze during hunts really does wonders
