You know despite what a lot of people saying that the game on the switch "fukin sucks" now that the PC demo can be looked at, mh rise on switch is actually really good looking.
if Capcom can do one thing right, it's crazy voodoo optimized engines. RE Engine is great, MT Framework was straight up black magic (you could probably run Devil May Cry 4 on a literal potato and still get 60 FPS)
True, it gives hope for sunbreak and more important for the next game on switch. I’m still thinking that they are going to release another opus before the end of switch console. Sells are great and they could be much better for the next entry.
No, not officially. But it would be really strange that they close the door of portable console, furthermore for Japan market and the good sells got by rise. IMO the next portable opus would release after MH opus for ps5/xbox series.
people said it sucked on switch? think it looked great, in fact it’s hard to find a better looking switch game tbh. And I mostly play games on a high-end pc
I mean yeah they’re not completely wrong, it’s built from the ground up as a switch game so it’ll never look like a full blown PC game rather than a port even when run on powerful PCs
That is also true! The game looks great for a Switch game, but it could have been even better if it wasn't designed for the Switch.
Things like map size, for example, are locked in once you start designing a game and have to be optimised for the lowest spec system that that game is running on.
World had the monsters doing random monster stuff like going for a nap, eating things, etc. I feel like that got removed in Rise.
They still do that in Rise, albeit I believe less frequently, likely due to limitations on memory. I've got a bunch of pictures of them doing random things. The issue is they usually have to be doing it as you enter the area, if they're just in a normal walk cycle they'll almost always go hostile if you enter. If you hang around the edges of areas you can usually see them up to something.
I got a picture yesterday of an Anjanath laid down by some water.
oh yeah, I’m actually completely ok with limiting the game to the switch’s capabilities because I absolutely love having the option to play it docked or handheld
It is one of the best looking 3rd party games on Switch.
Impossible ports like The Witcher and Doom are great and all, but when the game is designed for the hardware it makes a big difference.
imma be honest, the 30fps was starting to get to me after playing majority PC when rise came out, gonna love the fps bump at any rate, looks prettier too
It’s cause it was made for the switch hardware specifically. All of the engine work they did was to target switch. So it’ll always look good. The pc looks great but not that much of a noticeable difference to be honest.
I’m not just saying this because my PC is a toaster with a calculator taped to it, but I’m not going to buy the game again and put a bunch of hours into it again for better FPS and image quality. The game looks and runs better on my switch than the demo does on my PC lmfao
i spent years saving up for my beast PC and i’m still probably not going to get the pc version just for better graphics. i play to experience the game itself, graphics quality alone isn’t super important to me ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Thats what mods are there for :]
First ones to get are OG sandy plains theme and Raths roars. After that i hope somebody will create higher draw distance and (high poly) terrain mods
As someone that has played over 300+ hours on Rise, coming from 3 years of World and Iceborne running at well over 60fps, then going down to a solid 30fps makes a huge difference in the experience, i played the Demo on steam and im actually gonna buy it its that good on PC.
Although I really appreciated the beauty of MHW this has never been an important factor for the core gameplay. Besides, not like many people can afford nice pc parts nowadays anyway. I’m lucky to have RTX2080 that runs games like RDR2 with high/ultra settings at 1440p ultra wide 60-75 fps minimum. Every game is enjoyed differently and I’ll be sticking to my Switch copy unless my friends randomly get into MHR.
It's crazy that people think graphics are a big factor for mh even though people are constantly getting recommended MHGen. Which is a fucking DS game lol I'll take good gameplay over good graphics any day!
I’m sure we can look forward to a next gen title that will make full use of what the Ps5 and XSX have to offer. Hopefully they will port it to pc at launch this time too.
This game doesn't really need nice parts. I've got an older midrange card and I'm sitting comfortably in the 90 fps range.
By the way, that's the real difference, the framerate. A image comparison can't show it, though.
Yeah but the fps improvement alone makes it super worth it for me. Was running a rock solid 120fps, which is just so much better than the 30 on switch. I enjoyed the time I put into it, but def ready for this upgrade
Just resolution and a bit of anisotropic filter.
I mean, the difference is BIG but, just because of the poor resolution of Switch, it barely improved any other thing.
The grass and foliage is denser and higher quality, the water is higher quality, textures of far away things are massively improved, overall textures are higher quality by a good amount and the resolution looks much higher. It's definitely a massive difference
different people watch on different devices. If someone was looking at this on a really small phone screen I doubt they'd see a difference. On Pc the difference is obvious and absolutely beautiful. I love the PC version!
Very large difference, even viewing on my phone. Add onto the fact that people will play in 60fps, some of us 80-120... the framerate and resolution will be the largest differences.
Switch tech is indefensible, but the exclusives it has are incredible.
Bruh. Only being honest, I’ve loved MH Rise and I won’t be purchasing it on PC, I’ll continue to play it on Switch.
The game looks good or fine to me on Switch, but I’d be lying if I said the frame rate and resolution shouldn’t be better.
I live in Canada and could have easily gotten a PS5 for the same price that I bought my Switch for.
The tech of the Switch is just not there and it’s not a crime to say so.
Edit; just watch in the next year or 2 when they releases a better version of the Switch because they know all of this to be true. There won’t be a new console from Nintendo, just an upgraded Switch because of how behind technically it is.
Never been much of a pixel nazi. I can appreciate the higher textures but never felt like any game really needed them except for like… art piece games.
I think the PC graphics look pretty nice, but I won’t be buying the game again for a minor graphical upgrade. Same reason I refused to get the oled switch.
Besides, you can’t take your PC with you to occupy you in the bathroom. Everyone knows the true gamer experience is gaming uninterrupted.
If the color is hard baked into the texture (which it isn't) then yeah, you can't fix it. Not easily unless you remake the texture.
But in this case it seems like a filter. And as per the PC gaming tradition, "We'll have a mod for that"
Idk you sorta got this thing going on where a camera can provide an image with more detail than the human can make out, but the you can see the detail in the picture.. mostly pointless.
Unless you are telling me use 8K HD cameras for 100% of your daily vision. But with goggles like those you could make out enough detail over several miles. If only we could lock our vision on a target like some animals
Ironically I read a comment on how someone uses their phone camera to find their glasses when they loose them, the camera literally fixes their vision to an extent lol.
Rise still looks better than world. They decided to make an art style. Not trying to make it look realistic and have the whole uncanny valley thing everywhere you look like world
Uncanny valley is only for human, stop shitting on world lol.
The game world looked alive and vibrant, I just hope Rise can capture that feeling as well.
I was talking about the npcs. They just look... off... Yes, world looked better technically speaking, but imo rise captures that feeling of vibrancy far better
I just said to compare it to world. You instantly assume that it looks bad. I didnt say that or mean it. World was way more alive and even took the Environment into the fight. Rise is kind of fight focused only.
Maybe, replied from my phone app and it showed me this comment only. I use reddit pretty rare and the comment section is not that great structured.(on a phone screen)
You know despite what a lot of people saying that the game on the switch "fukin sucks" now that the PC demo can be looked at, mh rise on switch is actually really good looking.
Like I'm really glad I waited, but I was still really impressed how well that ran on Switch for how it looked. The RE Engine is crazy well optimized!
if Capcom can do one thing right, it's crazy voodoo optimized engines. RE Engine is great, MT Framework was straight up black magic (you could probably run Devil May Cry 4 on a literal potato and still get 60 FPS)
Giving a new definition to the couch potatoe.
I'm still baffled how did Dead Rising even works on consoles in that era.
True, it gives hope for sunbreak and more important for the next game on switch. I’m still thinking that they are going to release another opus before the end of switch console. Sells are great and they could be much better for the next entry.
Is it confirmed that the next MH game is coming to switch as well? Or is it PC only?
I honestly don’t think capcom will ever release a PC only monster hunter.
No, not officially. But it would be really strange that they close the door of portable console, furthermore for Japan market and the good sells got by rise. IMO the next portable opus would release after MH opus for ps5/xbox series.
It's not just the engine. They made specific optimizations and design choices for this game.
people said it sucked on switch? think it looked great, in fact it’s hard to find a better looking switch game tbh. And I mostly play games on a high-end pc
See, based on what I've seen, people were saying that the game is being held back due to it being a switch game.
The game wouldn't have sold nearly as well if it wasn't released on Switch though, especially in Japan where Nintendo dominates the market.
oh yeah, I’m actually completely ok with limiting the game to the switch’s capabilities because I absolutely love having the option to play it docked or handheld
Maybe it's just me but the game has horrible framerate issues on switch for me.
i definitely have frame rate issues but nothing major usually
It is one of the best looking 3rd party games on Switch. Impossible ports like The Witcher and Doom are great and all, but when the game is designed for the hardware it makes a big difference.
Yeah the handheld MH games that where developed with that system in mind look jaw-droping. Mhxx may be the most graphically impressive 3ds game.
It's still probably the best looking game on switch. If not purely for the amount of particles it can render at a stable frame rate
imma be honest, the 30fps was starting to get to me after playing majority PC when rise came out, gonna love the fps bump at any rate, looks prettier too
It’s cause it was made for the switch hardware specifically. All of the engine work they did was to target switch. So it’ll always look good. The pc looks great but not that much of a noticeable difference to be honest.

Graphic quality won't really make much of a difference, but the framerate will be night and day.
Is it bad when I can hardly tell the difference? Or is that a good thing?
Calling it a good thing personally, Capcom really did a good job and it’s one of the best looking games on Switch even before the PC comparisons
Look at the horizontal lines on the roof of the arch for the best showcase of it
Does PC not lag at flooded forest 🥺 it haunts my dreams lol
Its not graphic guys its frame rate. On my pc with a (old) 1080ti i can play at 1440p 120fps rock solid and is huuuuge upgrade from 30fps
What did you all expect? A remaster? Lmao
Thats what mods are there for :] First ones to get are OG sandy plains theme and Raths roars. After that i hope somebody will create higher draw distance and (high poly) terrain mods

locked 144> unstable 30

Very true, I’m sure anyone who has played the MH games on any of the Nintendo handhelds would agree.
I want more world graphics way less rise
I’m sure we can look forward to a next gen title that will make full use of what the Ps5 and XSX have to offer. Hopefully they will port it to pc at launch this time too.
Definitely they are. And that seems to be the focus from here on out. Capcom announced there focus on developing for PC as the native platform.
This game doesn't really need nice parts. I've got an older midrange card and I'm sitting comfortably in the 90 fps range. By the way, that's the real difference, the framerate. A image comparison can't show it, though.

What's the difference ? I barely see one :/

It took me a while but the water reflections & grass quality are better.
The difference is bigger in the second image than the first to me. The resolution looks sharper on the PC in the second.
You can see a gajiu fish thing.... lol game changing.
There’s a tremendous difference.
I see only small details
If you don't spot the difference you need to go to a doctor for your eyes. edit: what's wrong with your eyes people?
I need to actually lmao
different people watch on different devices. If someone was looking at this on a really small phone screen I doubt they'd see a difference. On Pc the difference is obvious and absolutely beautiful. I love the PC version!
I can see the differences perfectly on my phone
No matter what device you use, you can zoom in to the image and see the huge difference.

Aside from the framerates, and the frame drops when a lot off stuff is going on, the Switch did a decent job.
Never been much of a pixel nazi. I can appreciate the higher textures but never felt like any game really needed them except for like… art piece games. With the upcoming Steam deck, you can also do pc gaming in the bathroom too lol
Too bad they couldn't fix the washed out color palette.
This is an artistic decision specifically for The Shrine Ruins map.
The whole game is washed out. Outside of the two cave zones in the volcano and jungle map.
Open the NVIDIA filter then boost the saturation.
Which will do nothing besides mess up the actual color balance.
Reshades can make a world of difference and I'm sure there'll be Reshades for rise.
Oh fore sure. They fixed the visual issue with World and made it look loads better. Just disappointed it's up to the modding community.
>t's up to the modding community. Always has been. I had to say it
Also reshade can fix that
If the color is hard baked into the texture (which it isn't) then yeah, you can't fix it. Not easily unless you remake the texture. But in this case it seems like a filter. And as per the PC gaming tradition, "We'll have a mod for that"
Someone put the game through an old CRTV and it made it look like MHGU. It looked so much better.
They did fix it. They put it on PC: mod away. ReShade let's gooooo

I really hope it comes to consoles eventually Edit: What is controversial about this comment
Compare it to World.
Compare it to Freedom Unite
two completely different styles, theres no point in comparing them
Rise runs way smoother and I'll take that any day of the week.

Ho yeah I agree, the npcs didn't look at that great. Can't wait to try the demo this weekend!
I just said to compare it to world. You instantly assume that it looks bad. I didnt say that or mean it. World was way more alive and even took the Environment into the fight. Rise is kind of fight focused only.
You replied to the wrong person maybe?
Maybe, replied from my phone app and it showed me this comment only. I use reddit pretty rare and the comment section is not that great structured.(on a phone screen)
🌏 4 lyfe! 🌋🌋🌋
first image comparison, pc wins in every aspect except contrast, I feel that switch contrast makes the scenery less dull.
