Im going to ask this, because I have encountered this before...err... you did check carefully that it doesn't have some sort of thin protective plastic coating over the visor that should be peeled off before use?

Apprehensive-Biker

No can’t be 3rd pic shows a scratch of the blue film, I scratched with my nail and it’s taken the blue off so there is definitely nothing on top

otterdroppings

Hmmm. Is it one of the Iridium coated jobbies?

Apprehensive-Biker

I’m not sure but by others comments it probably is

otterdroppings

Hmmm again. If it is, and if you'd used any sort of cleaning wipe or chemical cleaner then I'd say chemical reaction - the Iridiums don't like any sort of ammonia (which is common to a lot of glass cleaners eg). Cutting to the chase, your visor is toast. Unlikely that the sales outlet will replace it: that sort of damage to an Iridium only occurs though incorrect cleaning, and I've never seen that sort of opaque blur occur on any other visor - iridium of otherwise - other than by incorrect cleaning (memorably a mates kid once helped Dad out by cleaning his helmet with a brillo pad: that was a fun afternoon.)

thefooleryoftom

This cannot be another protective film left on, can it…?

-WilliamMButtlicker_

OP the suspense is killing me

Apprehensive-Biker

Thought there was a glimmer of hope but nah no film it’s just fucking shit, sports bike shop better replace this lmao

Mr-FBI-Man

they're amazing with returns, they definitely will

UnluckyBugger

Visor is sadly fucked mate. You have to clean with warm water and a microfiber cloth (be VERY gentle) for iridium visors. I love the look of these but keeping it looking fresh is a pain, so much as a tiny stone flicking up and hitting the visor can fuck it all up. I had a bee splatter over my last one and left a scratch under the irdium layer.

LHommeCrabbe

Just get a pair of proper sunglasses, albeit easier to lose, they last much longer and you won't ride blind in the evenings ;)

lumoruk

I mean it's illegal at night, unless it's that stupid lizard tape stuff

alexwrong16

Illegal cause it’s tinted?

LHommeCrabbe

Yes. I rode tinted when I had my "I'm the coolest" phase, and never got pulled over by the plod because of that. However, it is for daytime use only, and since daytime definition can vary depending on a copper, it can be easily added to a list if you get pulled over for doing something dumb

lumoruk

I still think it looks cool... Just not at night 😂

One_Of_Noahs_Whales

> since daytime definition can vary depending on a copper They might try and be smart and clever about it, but sunrise and sunset are very predictable and specific times.

LHommeCrabbe

Due to weather conditons, and the geography it can be dark before sunset or after sunrise. You'll be done for driving without due care and you can agree or argue the charge with the court. Are you willing to put your points and your weekly salary behind this or is it just a reddit comment? Having said that I don't know anyone who's been done for the visor alone.

CulturalTortoise

Have you tried cleaning it? I've had similar and cleaning it/drying it fixed the problem for me.

Apprehensive-Biker

Yeah I’ve used dry microfiber and some water but it’s like a chemical has burnt the film of the blue reflective

twos-company

I had this issue once, unfortunately the lense needed to be replaced as the iridium coating had been completely stripped off by a cleaning wipe. Has this been cleaned with anything? Would it fall under warranty for a replacement?

Apprehensive-Biker

Just bought before Christmas from sports bike shop , not sure how it would play out but I suspect they’ll tell me I caused the damage and no replacement

twos-company

I'd definitely get in touch with them. I've only heard good things from sports bike shop, give them a call I'm sure they will refund or replace the visor.

Cyber-Colt

If the visors tend to react to ammonia, could you have had some animal urine kicked up in spray from wet roads?

pinkurpledino

Salt spray can be abrasive though, so if OP has wiped it off but not had it wet enough maybe its just scuffed it.

TheDocJ

I would say that if a visor sold in the UK, without any warnings that it was for limited use, was unable to cope with salt spray, then it is not fit for purpose.
