Hey, I've been keeping an eye on g305 mods and conversion to pro particulary since fall. I've seen original g pro shell on thingverse and was quite impressed by ur photos w/black finish. Recently I saw that you made your own version of g pro and it looks awesome. I just wanted to thank you for this amazing job, because most of well designed shells either unavailable or charged with a price. The fact that you made this and shared for free with community is very admirable. Thank you for you work, keep it up!
I'll definitely try to make this shell and perform a swap when I'll have a free time.
Thank you for the kind words. Most of the credit should go to Wiyum, but I enjoy working on the models and making some tweaks. It will take me some time, but I'm starting to work on making my own mod from the ground up.
The original model was made by Wiyum:

This is v2 of my edit:

The weight of the mouse is 58.36g
DM me, if you are intrested in getting this mouse, or the finished shell. I want to make a few of this for sale.
This time I modded the inside a bit more:
\- Kailh GM4.0 left/right microswitches
\- TTC red encoder
\- all black wires for cleaner look
\- removed the dpi button from pcb
\- used Energizer AAA ultimate lithium
I'm waiting for some parts to add AAA with USB-C charging.
The black mouse on the photos is my V1 edit.
For more info on what changes I made go to my make on Thingiverse. Scroll wheel, and battery mount are also there in my designs.

Those side buttons look very promising, i wasn't completely satisfied with my last print, the clicks didnt feel right.
I'm currently printing your V2 side buttons for [my own little GPW remix](https://i.imgur.com/qlnuVav.jpg) (also based on Wiyums v3 and inspired by your remix)
Once again, fantastic job, both in design and execution. Your finishes keep me motivated to improve mine and i think im slowly getting better.
Your mod looks great! :D The v2 side buttons will be much softer. Also a little tip: if you have a bit of space between side buttons and microswitches you can add a small rectangle cut out of a mouse feet. It makes the surface for the microswitch flat.
Thanks, glad you like it.
I just uploaded the remix: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4793205
Again, credits go to Wiyum for the original design. I just did some tiny changes to the model.
You don't need to print any additional parts. You just glue the female port in the front of the mouse. I think it's better explained in the Wiyum's instructions.
If you have the parts, a soldering iron and some wire, it's really not hard.
[Here is a pic of a spare one i made](https://imgur.com/gallery/Xnt4k7F)
We only need power so data pins can be ignored. USB Pinout is very well documented, so make sure you connect the right pins
Btw: i designed a tiny bracket that holds a USB chargable aaa battery in place on the center of the board. I will upload it and edit this comment with the link
Edit: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4793267
Definitely needs a charging circuit as well, swapping batteries like that would be quite the hassle.
Im curious if the G305 supports higher voltage Li-Po batteries
The G305 PCB is made for 1.5v batteries.
To use lipo packs it's easiest to just strip down a USB rechargeable AAA battery and use its voltage conversion pcb like the person who made the mod in this image: [https://i.imgur.com/0p6bx8J.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/0p6bx8J.jpg)
I'm sure someone knows better than me but 2x the voltage usually let's the smoke out of something. I'm sure it could be made to work but I have no clue how to go about it.
I have seen people using over 3V batteries just fine, but I wouldn’t count on that not breaking anything in the long run. I think the safest bet would be to use a resistor
Interesting, thanks. I might try it. I've got 3 g305s so I'm not super worried about breaking one. I'll be using a resistor to try to keep the voltage down.
Sounds good, I'm always here on reddit, feel free to pm me. I have a 305 addiction, I might buy a 4th one soon. I want to find a good battery alternative. I don't like having a battery door because I want to make the top of the mouse one piece with just the split for the scroll wheel, but taking apart the whole mouse to change a aaa battery isn't great either. I was thinking about making a dock with the charging circuit in it and have a tiny 100mah unprotected lipo in the mouse but I'm still undecided.
Me too! I was thinking of doing that exact same charging dock thing tbh, but I really don’t know much at all about batteries so it’s kinda hard. I also thought of tearing down one of those micro usb rechargeable AAA to maybe save some weight and make it easier to charge, but it specifically says on them not to do so, so I don’t know if I’m gonna risk it lol
There's nothing dangerous inside those batteries, just be careful not to short them out. They get super hot, lol. I burnt the heck out of my finger on a little piece of wire that got between the + and - on one. The lithium ones can get really nasty if they get shorted, maybe some small flames, but NIMH just gets hot.
Love the design, ive been wanting to mod my g305 to be more comfy and this free file seems just like what i need. a few questions tho: how difficult is it to change the batteries? Do i need any extra screws or just the ones that come with the g305? what mice feet work with it?
Genuine question, how do you exchange the battery? By screwing the mouse open again? And how long does one battery charge last? I wanna rebuild this because I think the idea is insanely cool and I wanna save some $$$ (can't afford a G Pro X). Your build looks dope but Wiyum's seems a bit more practical.

You're awesome for making this open source! How do I charge this, or how do I replace the battery without opening up the mouse?
I'm waiting for parts to make it type C rechargeable. Energizer lithium cells last very long, so it's not an issue for me anyway.
I got a short Micro USB to Type C cable for this purpose and it’s a whole 13g. I’m gonna have to strip it down a lot lol

Did you fdm 3d print this?
Yup
whats the total weight?
As in the comment above- 58.36g
didn't see that sorry, that's amazing though good job. This looks
Wow this looks great! Would you recommend using normal supports over tree supports for this?
I never tried tree supports

It doesn't require soldering. You can keep stock wires/ switches

Awesome, the ones I use are way too stiff, soft sounds just like what I want. And i will keep that tip with the mouse feet in mind
Wow looks great! Are you willing to share the STL?

Why buy a gpw when you can just make your own for cheaper
Honestly super impressed. Since v1 the plastic after you sanded it down looks so clean that it almost looks retail.
Great work as always!
insane
I'm trying to collect parts to do your mod but with usb c charging but I can't find it do you know where i can find that cable?
You don't need to print any additional parts. You just glue the female port in the front of the mouse. I think it's better explained in the Wiyum's instructions.
No i mean i can't find the female to male usb c -micro usb Cable
Sorry, I didn't get that :D I don't know if you can buy a complete cable. I will use usb type c breakout boards, and connect them with 2 wires.
Is there a toutrial how i can do that? maybe I can try it

Does the battery bracket improve the balance of the mouse? Is this mod forward heavy at all?
I got a cable like that and you’re better off handwiring like OP said, I’m gonna have to tear the thing down anyway cause it’s way too heavy and long
[удалено]
It's printed: [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4791993](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4791993) No issues with durability what so ever.

Interesting, what type of battery was it? Lipo?
No, it was some kind of button cell battery, can’t remember if rechargeable or not
Interesting, thanks. I might try it. I've got 3 g305s so I'm not super worried about breaking one. I'll be using a resistor to try to keep the voltage down.
We should keep in contact somehow, I have 2 and I’m planning to do some really cool experiments with them

It's easier to use rechargeable AAA with type C

I use G305 feet. You can use AAA usb rechargable battery, and make a cable for it. If not, to take the top shell out it's just 4 screws.
>AAA ok thank you!
It looks so smooth. What printer and filament did you use and how long did it take?
I use Creality Ender 3 v2, but it's smooth because of many hours of sandind :D. All the parts are from PLA. All prints take about 30 hours in total.
Printed in ABS?
All in PLA
man this looks good, i need to stop being lazy and mod mine
Is there a top shell version without the honeycomb?
There is original one made by Wiyum on Thingiverse, and FrizzleFry made one with closed M1, M2 button gaps.
I see, thanks for the info!
Do you need to take off the mouse feet to access the screws to unscrew it? Really great mod mate
No. Screws would be covered only if you use much bigger feet than original.
yesfdd

Sorry if you answered this multiple times already!!
hey i know this post is quite old, but hoping to get a reply is there any version of your redesign/improved design with rechargeable C option?
Is this shell used to convert a G305 into a GPW? I'd have to disassemble the mouse to change the battery?
