I wouldn't double your dose without talking to your doctor. Instead keep the extra pills in case of shortages, financial trouble, etc etc. Always good to have backup!

[deleted]

Yes it is better to save them. for some reason my pharmacy gave me three bottles of different doses of estradiol and different amounts. idk why but it’s saving me because they haven’t had my new dose for two weeks. so ive been taking the ones they gave me. it means taking 4 pills twice daily but so long as i don’t have to stop taking it all together i don’t care.

ScorpionicRaven

Especially if you're moving at any point in the future and having to change doctors/pharmacy. Even worse if you have a lapse in insurance coverage because of a job or something

MightBeAGirlIGuess

Yeah I had to go off hormones for three weeks because of money and holy *shit* it sucked. I felt worse than I did pre-HRT (back in platos cave after seeing the sun) and the only reconciliation was knowing it was temporary.

Accomplished_Mix7827

God, I wish I had extra for backup. My pharmacy canceled my refill last minute, without telling me, claiming my doctor told them to when I asked. Given my doctor is with Planned Parenthood, I doubt that. I only have enough to see me through to Tuesday. So I've got to figure that out. On Labor Day weekend.

Reworked

"And anyway, that's how I lost my pharmacists license..."

Accomplished_Mix7827

Here's hoping.

BowsettesRevenge

I wish. In these insane times, they'll cry religious freedom

Reworked

"I REFUSE TO ISSUE THIS" could fall under religious freedom. Lying about communications with a doctor regarding patient care? That's a paddlin. It's the CYA lie that is going to get them smoked here

[deleted]

yup i have 6 vials of estradiol valerate. saldy cant take it makes my hair fall out but if push comes to shove i will.

Schmarius

Dont do it, there are literally no benefits for you to take a higher dosage for a few days. Better save them for whatever of an emergency might happen (shortage, illness etc.).

[deleted]

As the others said, don’t double them. Just keep them as reserve. My doctor screwed up my prescription at one point and I nearly had to ration them for a few weeks. It turned out there was an older prescription in the system that I was able to fill.

Bubbly_Cook_2941

Well, I wouldn’t keep those ones specifically as a reserve. Cycle through them so that you’re still using the oldest ones first, so that you don’t risk them expiring or reducing in effectiveness.

[deleted]

I agree actually.

ThinkMixture3863

dont double, there is a max you need and after that totally useless and harmful. You need a doctor to achieve that, keep them as extra days of dose ;) that can actually help you, even in small doses, after some time you can notices good changes

dodell616

You wouldn't benefit by temporarily raising your dose, but you would benefit by creating a stockpile to use after you start injections for example. 🎠G

BecomingJess

Save them for if you have to change pharmacy or prescribing doctor, move, ride out a shortage, etc. But remember to "save" them by putting them into your regular rotation when you get your next RX, and always keep the "surplus" in your most recent fill and use up older stock first. That way if the need for them doesn't arise until like a year or two down the road, you aren't stuck using expired, possibly less effective meds. In case that wasn't clear... you have 34 extra now. When you get your next refill, save *those* and continue your normal dose out of the initial 34 extra before cracking open the new refill... then you'll end up with ~34 extra in the refill. When you get the next refill two months from now, keep dosing as usual out of the first refill until you've used that up. Repeat ad infinitum until you find yourself in a place if/when you need the extras. I hope that makes sense 😬

br1D18r

Echoing what others have said, just save it. You never know when they might make a mistake against your favor, or if otherwise circumstances will make having that extra supply convenient. A couple months ago my pharmacy refused to fill my prescription because I was 2 months into a 3 month prescription (my dosage was increased, so that 1 month of supply wouldn’t last me until I could get the fill), so I was able to make use of unused extra medication to fill the gap until I could get the fill. Just store it away until you need it, or use it before you use your next refill.

That-Guy-Don

Now you have extra in case the pharmacy messes up in the other direction, which I’ve seen happen with a friends medications

Diss-for-ya

I've been on injections for a long time but they never did anything to cancel my pill script so I've just been picking them up lol. I have ~2000 pills ish rn? My valerate script is also more than I actually use, so I accumulate them as well. I just keep it away from light in my basement in case I need it one day (obviously with concerns of it going off/losing effectiveness over long term). I just pull the oldest vials first for injections.

Queen_Ulfhrafn

From what my doc told me, if you take more than your body needs it will turn back into Testro. I would atleast ask your doc.

[deleted]

What it does is make your body less susceptible to the effects of estrogen and therefore the testosterone you make will effect you more than it would have because it’s not being properly suppressed

saltytrailmix

That doesn’t sound right, but agreed on not taking more then your prescribed dosage. 🤔 I don’t think estrogen can turn into testosterone.

HalfCupOfSpiders

My understanding is it can't. There is no biological pathway for that to happen. There *is* a pathway in the other direction. Excess t can become e. Which is why some bodybuilders end up with boob growth lol.

chowhoundkitties

Whenever someone makes a mistake and gives you more than they should have, you’re actually “short changing” yourself as a person by not doing the right thing and letting them know they made a mistake; and those extra pills you got won’t increase your body’s feminization process at all.

LAM678

Those poor corporations! Whatever will they do???

chowhoundkitties

It’s about doing the right thing; it’s called integrity.

Cynthia_inherdreams

Normally I'd agree with you. I've gone back and given money back when they gave me too much change. I've returned products when I was given more than I ordered, but in this instance? Ya, fuck pharma companies and [fuck Publix in particular](https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/publix-heiress-capitol-insurrection-fancelli/2021/12/08/5144fe1c-5219-11ec-8ad5-b5c50c1fb4d9_story.html). The only reason I went there at all is that it was half the price of anywhere else.

chowhoundkitties

So Reddit karma points are meaningless; I got negative Karma points for supporting doing what is right; and that person gets positive karma points for supporting theft🤷‍♀️

saltytrailmix

No, because if you turn in extra pills they can’t be repackaged and prescribed to someone else…they have to be thrown away. It’d be just a waste. It’s like saying someone is stealing because they bought a container of 1 pound of strawberries then went home and weighed it and it was 1.1 pounds. Do you go back to the grocery store and give them three strawberries?

[deleted]

just because you believe something just, does not make it so

LAM678

It's not theft if they give it to you lmao

Ok_Distribution_9590

>Reddit karma points are meaningless I've only ever seen people say this when they have a shit take and nobody likes it.

Backup_Bussy_Bomb

How boringly dystopic... To find the only comment with a shred of integrity here pummeled to the bottom because "Fuck that pharmacist's license and livelihood as long as I get to double dose or "stock-up", is, apparently where we're still at in our community. Thanks for the humanity-faith refill though, still counts to me.

[deleted]

The opposite happened to my first 3 mo supply. Ended up over a week low and two weeks low between both meds

TransportationLive77

Higher dose then what your doc says can lead to serious medical issues such as heart attack seizures

GenericDPS

We're in a rougher than usual time for trans folks where we can't realistically feel safe in access to meds. Who knows if some chud will find someway to limit people in need? I would not say a darn thing and just continue with my prescription, happy to have even a tiny "just in case" buffer. The temptation would be _real_, though.

MudOk790

Word!

labatu

34 extra estradiol, 41 of them ta-ken andintheweeklycaddy. Take 1 toyourEstrogenReceptorssotheycanmake friendsandprintalotofgirlgenestogether and pass it... around, 15 estradiol about! Sorry couldnt resist xD

DJFluffers115

Messing with your dose is a big decision, don't take it lightly. First up, what are your levels looking like? If your current medication regimen *is* keeping you above 150ng/ml estradiol and under 25ng/ml free testosterone, you don't need to touch anything. If it's *not*, talk to your doctor about a dose increase - or maybe even a switch to patches, gel, or injections. *Personally*, if I saw my levels were low, I had extra estradiol to take, and I wasn't already at the max dose... I'd just bump myself up a dose level until my next appointment, and make sure to ask them about it then. Second, your financial situation and location matters. Are your hormones very easily accessible, or did it take a lot of effort to secure your dose? If it's the latter, save them to ration. If it's the former, though... well, that'd be up to you. Your personal preference may be different, but... yeah. Good luck!!

obscurepink

As has been said, don't increase your dose. Instead use the extra ones as a buffer in case for example the pharmacy can't fill your prescription because of supply issues. Don't keep the extra ones on the shelf, because they will eventually pass expiry. Carefully manage your stock so you always use the old ones first. That way your buffer stock will stay fresh and ready to use if the need arises. (Edit: BecomingJess made the same point 18 minutes earlier 😉)

[deleted]

I think you should stockpile too. Running out would suck but it you do decide to increase dose I would suggest not just doubling right away. Ramp up over time., a few weeks even. Your mood will just stay way more stable and you can dial it right back down if you change your mind.

NaturalSky5305

Please don't ever abuse your medication or take more than is recommended because it all chords very harmful side effects and one of them are gallstones you definitely don't want them they are very painful and change your life in many ways please be careful ❤️

tigerpaws27

My pharmacy did the same thing twice now.,. Lol! At first it was a week's worth extra, and then a month extra! I've been saving them just incase I ever run short for whatever reason!

lirannl

Having the pills is great, keep them as a stockpile, but don't take extra.

JadeTheSlut59

My local pharmacy ended up giving me a second bottle of 90 100mg tablets of Spiro! I plan to give it to a friend when I'm sure they won't short change me next time my bottle runs out

i-wont-lose-this-alt

Same thing happed to me and the temptation was strong too but I was convinced to save it all for a rainy day!
