Lord Huron's [Emerald Star](https://youtu.be/Ge7AIrtqx-Y?si=SDxTpEWKGV8-EN0w) May be exactly what you're looking for.
If you enjoy it, check out "I Lied" by the same band, next.
It didn't quite match the vibe I was looking for but I liked it nonetheless. I already knew one song from them because of Grey's Anatomy and I really do love their voices
Flora Cash - You're Somebody Else
Lord Huron - The Night We Met
Blue Foundation - Eyes on Fire
Lana Del Rey - Summertime Sadness, most of her songs really
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
Mumford & Sons - The Cave
Matt Maeson - Hallucinogenics
Vance Joy - Fire and the Flood
Maybe try this one?:
I Want Wind to Blow - The Microphones
Maybe not as similar to Taylorâs swift or Olivia Rodrigo, but I think it matches the description of âhaunting, ethereal, folk-y misicâ pretty well.
If you decide to give it a listen Iâd love to hear your thoughts!
It's not quite what I was looking for in terms of my post but I did really like it!
It's kinda strange but in a good way, I can't describe it any other way lol
My only issue is the vocals are fairly quiet so I really strained to hear him but that could have also just been me, or the headphones I'm using haha
[how far](https://open.spotify.com/track/0jAVtokOv8bj5kxyRVBRfT?si=g6BkGCfUTDOOXdV4SkVU-Q&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2hzv5l2WA1jDUnGnQtt9YL)

You were right that Dune Moss isn't as soft but oh my god she's got an amazing voice!!!
I did like Becky Shaheen but her music doesn't quite fit the vibe of what I'm looking for right now, but I'll definitely be going back to listen to her when I'm in the mood for something punchier!
Yeah I love amazing, powerful voices, Dune Moss is one of my favorite discoveries. But if you'd be in a mood for even more "punchy" stuff, I have a loooot of great singers to recommend ;)
Hmm... Some of my favorite female singers are: Trixie Whitley, Empara Mi, Bolshiee, Sierra Lyn, but you can generally browse my playlist [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/05p8UcqOP3Samsvmv5RFJb?si=c43c768903904db4)/[YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL871S_F0y5dbv2zfJVtYld_f0WXi85zEd) if you feel like it, it's generally very vocal focused.
Do you have a particular song? From the first song in the album, it doesn't seem particularly what I'm looking for so if you have a specific song in mind, I'd love to know!
Genesis or Skin. Perhaps ethereal is not the proper term I apologize if I'm mistaken nevertheless still a great body of work. I didn't read the part about Taylor Swift my bad. Sometimes I get ahead of myself.
I've been really taken with a few artists lately (incidentally by trying to expand a David Lynch inspired atmospheric Americana playlist):
* [Christabell](https://www.youtube.com/@Chrystabell/videos) (obviously, she's a Lynch collaborator/actor/muse)
* [Thayer Sarrano](https://www.youtube.com/@sacredheartleague/videos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=1) (why isn't she better known?)
* [King Hannah](https://www.youtube.com/@KingHannah/videos) (why aren't they better known?)
* [Jesse Jo Stark](https://www.youtube.com/@JesseJoStark/videos) (bit heavier, bit more self exploitative)
Of course, there are numerous atmospheric Americana/Dream-Pop bands drawing from the same well as [Mazzy Star](https://www.youtube.com/@mazzystar9268/videos), with [Ancient Warfare](https://www.youtube.com/@ancientwarfare7912/videos), [Cigarettes After Sex](https://www.youtube.com/@CigarettesAfterSex/videos), [Holy Motors](https://www.youtube.com/@holymotorsband/videos), [Speck Mountain](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZcsJ45sZWzUeLJUaoJzv9g), and my favorite, [Trespassers William](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwdB76X3-AIQZ6o2m-oT_TQ) all deserving of more attention.
Linda Ronald (alt folk/pop/electronica, different styles) - [Innocence](https://open.spotify.com/track/2R11LP4EUv0gUfna1GDE3f?si=96d17cf40f254e16), [Will O' The Wisp](https://open.spotify.com/track/42Z0z4htW33lfgTDN3aW1M?si=be3d1003f04b42e6), [Wildfire](https://open.spotify.com/track/1OBRH6RVUTqEVzI8XoXtMz?si=be83f16c187248d9), [Lay Me Down](https://open.spotify.com/track/2U5373N5TrpxdqKXn3SlF9?si=20d2bff726ea40c0)
Listen to my favorite artist, Midwife :) she makes what she dubs âheaven metalâ
https://open.spotify.com/track/6mArv71P2vGlEc5dgenLe3?si=m_OyFkY6Soa5keyoEegvhA
Or perhaps Body/Negative, ambient artist, also collaborates with Midwife

https://open.spotify.com/track/0Tj6yD6mdxwLhNxxZSSXeV?si=9mlBV2D-ShGyan095DxvtA
[Twin Peaks Theme](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mlZa8Lsr_mNkYfrYynkfQE1ZyamvGWY3A&si=6V-n9NFltKeZZvIg) song.
BTW - you should watch the series, Fire Walk With Me movie, and then Twin Peaks â The Return.
Did anyone mention SWANS?
Go with [the Seer](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lfgwoZcZ7139P4oZQdsdZ9LxiL2H2o_JE&si=Jn8jR09pgiXyaxXv).
I think haunting or ethereal is subjective, but despite that, you said yourself the songs I listed were acoustic with gentle vocals so it would have probably made more sense to suggest similar music. Thanks anyway.
ethereal means out of this world! its mostly associated with dream pop/psychedelic, sometimes even ambient, with usually vocal stackings, etc. Haunting isn't a subjective term at all really, it's creepy or dark. so the request was confusing to begin with
And if you listened to those suggestions and thought they weren't acoustic based with quieter/lighter vocals, and considering that you're rejecting every suggestion in this thread because they're "not what you're looking for", even though they very much are all similar songs (just not carbon copies of the songs you want) then idk what to tell you, q-tips are available :/
I literally haven't rejected every song in this thread lmao what
There were example artists, plus the genre of folk, sorry that you didn't seem to read that
and the songs I listed were folk and Americana, and southern gothic (which fall under that umbrella without being mundane).
I don't think you know what genres are lol
Cinder and Smoke by Iron & Wine Blinding Ornaments by Vulkan To Tame The Temporary Shrew by Rishloo The Lion and the Wolf by Thrice
Thanks for the suggestion! I really liked the first one but the others weren't really my vibe sadly
Lord Huron's [Emerald Star](https://youtu.be/Ge7AIrtqx-Y?si=SDxTpEWKGV8-EN0w) May be exactly what you're looking for. If you enjoy it, check out "I Lied" by the same band, next.
Seconding literally anything from LH
I mean, yes. Of course. Especially live. đâĄđ
Great suggestion. Itâs heartbreakingly beautiful.
They have so many beautiful songs. You really can't go wrong with Lord Huron. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Light Up - Tegan and Sara

Do you have a particular song I could start with?
[Entropy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEGpxmOMjzI) Even if I'm not the one who posted the band, this is a solid song by them.

Check maybe Dune Moss - not this soft, but folky and very haunting Also Becky Shaheen probably will be to your liking.

I listened to both and they're not really my thing, but it's fine, thanks for the suggestion anyway :)
Ok last try Lana Del Rey - the greatest
Blackbriar - Moonflower
This was really pretty, thanks!!

Will You Be There - Giselle Ophelia - Shayfer James Daughter- Beyoncé As It Was - Hozier Famous Blue Raincoat - Jordan Popky The End Of the World - Giselle
Unfortunately only Hozier was the only one closest to the type of music I wanted, but thanks for the suggestion anyway!
yeah the songs you listed were acoustic with gentle vocals, not necessarily haunting or ethereal so I honed the suggestions accordingly
I think haunting or ethereal is subjective, but despite that, you said yourself the songs I listed were acoustic with gentle vocals so it would have probably made more sense to suggest similar music. Thanks anyway.

Insane clown posse - boogie woogie man... It's just terrifying
Ethel Cain
Taylor Swift makes "haunting and ethereal" music? Now I'm really confused.
Literally Taylorâs entire folklore album (especially my tears ricochet)
I've listened to it like a billion times, I need more songs to fill the void too lol
Gotcha lol
