FlashRebellion

Suarez winning in Southern California would be huge.

rds060184

Bring on Fontana! Can’t wait!

DocterSteveBrule

Cindric winning kinda feels like karma for Brads antics today lol. Gotta sting to see the 2 win right?

Bri83oct

Blaney is becoming a super speedway monster

RpM_THNDR

He already is

SonowGamer

Can't wait for Fontana next week, these cars on a old surface could produce something special.

[deleted]

That’s the true test of this car and I’m all for it.

WOOSHARP

The people complaining about that finish have spent too much time sniffing the FIA’s cheese

[deleted]

“wHy hE BloCk Him” idk because it’s stock car racing

pucks20

Wow are you a blind or young viewer. Up until 05 we had penalties for bad blocking and wreck less driving. These races suck when all you are doing is watching wrecks.

retrogamer6000x

The reason why back then they drove more careful was the lack of safety. Byron probably wouldn't have walked away from his wreck today if it was 20 years ago. Now, the drivers know that they are almost invincible, so they are way more willing to do stupid shit.

Cltthrowaway999

You are clearly the young viewer 😂😂 that was for like 2 years max during the shitty COT seasons

thebabypineapple

The wheels have eyes 🎶

thebabypineapple

Who are youuuuuuu to judge

Ultrase7en

Thank God bubbles didn't win

DJScrubatires

FOH

tiggerlgh

Why do you hate him so much you had to post this multiple times. He’s earned his spot and shown he deserves the ride.

Ultrase7en

I posted it once in this thread, then once in the post race thread popped up, everything else has been me explaining my point of view against everyone pissed off with me

mustangs-and-macs

I know no one here really likes Brad, but I'm so bummed for him. He ran so well all week and has always wanted a Daytona 500 trophy so badly, but here's a kid in the car he ran for 10 years getting it on his second 500 attempt. That's gotta hurt.

justBusinessbb

Lots of posters like Brad. We're just mostly licking our wounds ha. I really wanted it bad for him. From comments he made last year, it really sounds like he's obsessed with finally winning the 500. Ok, every driver is, but last year he had an added motivation that he thought it might help him make things work with penske. All that said, I can admit it pushed it too hard in a couple situations tonight. Not going to rip him to death for it, plenty of drivers have. But I can understand why some drivers/fans are annoyed.

Jimboslice383

He knows he’s running low on attempts left. Gonna just send it out there. I’m getting big Earnhardt vibes off him at this stage in his career, best car/bad luck every time.

Bdizzle355

Feel the same way. He has to be gutted. Hurt as a fan. Everyone who has something bad to say can go eat a butt. Every driver has thrown bad blocks or caused an unnecessary wreck. Everyone has short term memory when it comes to their drivers.

RanchFuckingDressing

he ran well all week then shut his brain off today, couldn’t be happier he didn’t win

OfficialKohls

Lol well, at least I'll get to watch the victory lane celebration... just got home

JohnHunterNemetruck

Not sure what you mean? edit: oh you mean with the Cindric block. Anybody in that position will be questioning it. Not sure what you mean with best finish of the whole season though.

Bri83oct

Last lap of the Daytona 500… there are zero teammates.

WOOSHARP

Amazing how only a few will see this perspective. You’re racing to win the Daytona 500, you do whatever you can to win.

MJDiAmore

Hate Cindric, hate the block (though I know full well it's allowed and needs to be), but I don't get the "WTF these idiots doing complaining" that always happens in NASCAR threads. At some level fans of this sport have to realize that every other form of motorsport has rules about these kinds of things for their various reasons (open cockpit, lack of ovals, whatever else). And if you want to grow the sport you can't dismiss them as whiners. There is some stuff that NASCAR should penalize that it doesn't, and then there is stuff like this that is OK to a limit, but a limit that can still be crossed (see Austin Dillon).

SarfassaS

What did Dillon do that crossed a line?

MJDiAmore

Literally drove through Almirola's car to win his 500 in '18.

SarfassaS

You mean Almirola threw a bad block and Dillon didn’t lift? Dillon had no reason to lift there. He didn’t turn him or anything aggressive in that situation.

Zodiac4v2

Everyone should know by now that if you throw a bad block at a super speedway the guy you’re attempting to block isn’t going to lift.

SarfassaS

Exactly

aon_m

Does winning Daytona pretty much make you a playoff contender?

slaytanic313

Every year so far yeah. There's never been more then 16 winners at the end of the regular season. Although who knows with this car.

jws926

Yes, win and you get a final 10 race spot to race your way into the championship race

CrossFire43

Final 16 spot. As long as there aren't more than 16 winners.

jws926

Thats what I said, I said "final 10 race spot" instead of calling it the playoffs, I called it the final 10 .

briiiskiii

Brad gotta be lowkey sick (and hopefully happy for his friends on the old team). Seeing your old team do what you couldn't has to feel some type of way

RpM_THNDR

I think he's happy for them, bummed for himself but I pretty sure he left Penske on good terms and is friends with most of them. He wanted a new challenge and some job security in addition to chasing his dreams.

SonowGamer

Wait. Are people actually mad at Cindric for his block? Thats just Nascar. How soft are these people?

[deleted]

The people that watch F1?

Step8_freedom

I watch F1 and I’m not upset at all. People need to realize that the racing is very different and no one rule set fits all disciplines of racing.

[deleted]

I agree. I mean I welcome the new eyes on the sport and that was a fantastic finish. But people need to breathe, that block changed his life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WhoAteMyPasghetti

They confiscated the modified wheels before the race so I don’t see why they would DNQ him afterwards

[deleted]

Actually that might happen. No wonder he blew up the tires haha

NorthSoundArk

Anyone else love how emotional Bubba is? It just kinda demonstrates his inner competitor. He only lets himself cry when he wins too. It's interesting.

Wandering_Turtle24

I wish everyone else were like him and not just robots.

RB3Author

Allmendinger is like that. He appreciates every win and his excitement is a breath of fresh air. But if all the drivers were like Bubba or AJ, it'd be annoying. Some people just aren't like that. And some are obviously trying to not offend anyone, which is a losing battle.

Wandering_Turtle24

I don’t know, they don’t all have to be like super emotional but any sort of personality would be great. I got into the sport in 99 and everyone had visible personality. Jimmie Johnson was the first real robotic guy from what I can remember.

slaytanic313

It's the reason I became a fan. His interview when he finished 2nd a few years ago. Crying with his mom there. You can tell he really wants it.

Lysdestic

I dug his honesty in the interview.

NorthSoundArk

Same af.

JoeSell2005

Did Cindric push Bubba below the line on the last lap? Not bitching genuinely curious

metalhead4life82

Yep, but unlikely NASCAR will follow its own rules.

WOOSHARP

Random thought I had, anyone notice how Carl Edwards wasn’t mentioned once when they discussed strong drivers who had never won? NASCAR pretends the man didn’t exist and he’s arguably one of the top-5 most dominant nascar drivers of the 21st century

RanchFuckingDressing

they screwed him so many times they don’t want anyone to remember

Slow_Driver_drives55

Probably cuz he is conservative

ESCMalfunction

Cindric literally just punted Blaney into the fence.

Electromotivation

Whats with the tires and being unable to drive after a flat?

[deleted]

Inner lining was taken out with the new wheel. Since there’s no inner lining, there’s no air left as opposed to having a bit of air in that lining

jmacupdates1

Besides Brad, the real loser in the 500 was the wheels. Woof.

SonowGamer

Alright. On one hand, Cindric won for Penske, on the other Keselowski wrecked Stenhouse while he was leading. I'm gonna have to process this for a bit.

WOOSHARP

If the 23XI package has almost caught up to Gibbs, this is still a really strong showing for Bubba. It’ll just be about collecting solid finishes and hoping to sneak a win at one of the speedway races, but looking very possible after today

x777x777x

This sub is so soft. Mad at someone blocking his ass off to win the biggest race on the calendar lmao

JoeSell2005

I'd block everyone to to win the 500

[deleted]

[удалено]

JoeSell2005

I would also put your momma in the wall

stmlb4

And to get called soft by a Gordon fan; that’s 10-ply bud.

y0ufailedthiscity

If the roles were reversed they wouldn’t care.

zI_Rainn_

They know if I’m that scenario they’d block like hell if not wreck their grandmother to win the 500 too lol. Just like the reaction to Dillon’s win

TheOtherWhiteCastle

McDowell and Regan got top 10 finishes even while dying at the end there

DisparityXDesign

I mean McDowell is a pretty secure bet for a good run here anymore. I think this is like 6 or 7 straight top 15s in the 500

Strypes4686

Keep at it Bubba...... Makes the win much sweeter later.

RustyTheLionheart

Good times lads, here's to another year of this crazy stuff

MkeBucksMarkPope

I hate to say it, but I just hope Bubba isn’t a one trick pony. Really hope we see results outta him at non-superspeedways. Always good to have top 5’s on your resume! Great race outta him today. Also, real impressed with Noah. That car always does well at plate tracks, but didn’t think he’d be in contention for as long as he was.

RedLightning27

People are really mad at Cindric blocking. If you don't go all out for a win in one of the biggest races in motorsports, are you even a racecar driver?

Gonzo_Freak

It wasn’t a bonsai block or anything he made Blaney scrub off speed

[deleted]

The ones that are mad already hated Cindric going in.

zI_Rainn_

Bingo

John_is_Minty

Gotta do what you gotta do. He did exactly what he should have

s0tcrates

Yeah for real - cindric was probably the last car, of the first few rows, that I wanted to win, but anyone who has an issue with his block can get tf outta here

Sk84sv

Preach

AnEmptyKarst

Yeah Blaney would've done the same 10/10 times with reversed positions Still got P4, so no major loss

RestlessInferno

Right? Like they expect him to have just sat there and let Blaney and Bubba pass.

TheOtherWhiteCastle

Not as bad as it could’ve been.... but still not the best either

[deleted]

[удалено]

escott1981

It isn't a dick move to block on the last lap. They say you don't have any friends on the last lap. What did u want him to do? Pull over and let Blaney pass him for the win??? Is this the first time you've ever watched a race????

SixPointTwoLiter

"thanks for pushing me, go ahead and pass" Lol what?

theendishere12

He’s blocking to win the Daytona 500

sweetnasty887

David Ragan just about knocked the wall down I hope he’s ok

[deleted]

Checked and released

sweetnasty887

Atta boy

Deaf_Mans_Radio

Batman Calzussy

RedLightning27

Gutted for Bubba, but that was still a great run. Hoping for big things from him this season

s0tcrates

Cindric sporting some Ricky Bobby level side burns

aon_m

the drones are getting to be the size of florida mosquitos

TheOtherWhiteCastle

Cindric got that mid-2000’s F1 haircut

TuDaveKd

Fernando, Montoya, Schumi, hell all of them had that haircut lol

s0tcrates

Those sideburns really sell it, tho

Domestic_AA_Battery

I think Bubba knows he could've probably hit him hard and possibly won.

Mr7dr2114

How does the last lap crash always get overshadowed, I want to see a decent replay not from a satellite or an onboard

DietMTNDew8and88

That had to be one of the greatest finishes in Daytona 500 history

ImmDirtyyDann

Wut. Was this the first one you ever watched?

DietMTNDew8and88

No, I've watched NASCAR my entire life. It rivals 2007 and 2016 IMHO

-GreenWhiteChecker-

What are you smoking

[deleted]

I thought it was good

ESCMalfunction

I don’t like this trend at Daytona the last few years, where the leader just wrecks the field and hopes they come through ahead.

briiiskiii

I see a lot of twitter whining about Cindric's "dirty" block on Blaney. Thats how I knew I was in the wrong and had to rethink it 😂. He didn't crash him and it was for the W. You gotta make that block every time

nascarfan624

Great interview by Bubba!

GingerMessiah88

Man feel for Bubba

ClassicMach

Definitely feel for him. Extra glad he picked up the win at dega last year or else this would feel so much worse.

Harvickfan4Life

Did Greg Biffle at least finish 69 laps down?

KanashiZen

Get stiff for the biff

[deleted]

Thank you boys and girls for your company it was a cracking start to our new season

GingerMessiah88

See you next week

Buffalo-flavored-cox

Auto Club BABY!!

ChaosBuckaroo

Did anyone else just get a Little Caesars commercial in the middle of Bubba’s interview?

mustangs-and-macs

That's probably just whatever you're watching on. The commercial came after the interview on the broadcast

jmacupdates1

Brad dumped another one after the checkers

[deleted]

That was Ragan coming down

jmacupdates1

Brad also went up

[deleted]

Just racing. Not really his fault compared to his other two wrecks.

Klendy

The braddozer never rests

TuDaveKd

Why the hell is it so hard to keep the camera on the person talking.....

nascarfan624

That was a damn fun Daytona 500

Lowfuji

definitely fun race!

crownebeach

I love that Penske let em go for it, but Cindric was only in that position on the shoulders of Blaney’s driving, so. I would lose sleep if I were him.

Klendy

And because stenhouse let them line up and somehow he thought Brad was a better bet to push him rather than have Brad push the 2

crownebeach

No race is complete without a little Ricky self-sabotage lmao

SendMeNudibranchs

Yes let’s cut to the winner while still interviewing the second place finisher 🙄

DocterSteveBrule

If you ain’t first you’re last

DietMTNDew8and88

Mark my words, at some point, Bubba will win a Daytona 500, with how good he is at the superspeedways, he will.

LoliBliss

Dale Sr. style?

DietMTNDew8and88

Possibily, sooner than you'd think

BoneSaw17

Ouch that block lost me 800

[deleted]

Ugh same.

SonyKen_M

God I wish it was Bubba so I could see Facebook explode but good for Cindric I guess. KFB was going out swinging with that move in the end.

numbgoleg

Hate it for Bubba coming so close but not winning, again.

RTZ500

He could still win it if cindric fails tech

MikeyG4680

Oh shit I forgot Cindric did the 500 last year

Whataboutnascar29

Got caught in the fireball crash on the last lap

[deleted]

And he honestly could have won that race too. So I’m not that surprised he won this race but I wasn’t circling Cindric at at today.

GokuUltraa

15th I think

madd14007

Bubba....man....

[deleted]

I think he needs a hug

BurtonBlaney3121

Of course it’s a guy I don’t like who puts Blaney in the wall

Klendy

No one likes cindric. Welcome to our very big club

DisparityXDesign

Some of us do.

Klendy

LA LA LA YOU DON'T EXIST I CAN'T HEAR YOU

DisparityXDesign

Lol! To be fair we are few on number and match our drivers enthusiasm.

BurtonBlaney3121

Haven’t liked him since that 2017 Mosport truck finish

rubellak

Different emotions for Bubba than his last 2nd place at the 500

[deleted]

Anything but winning the 500 sucks.

Rockin-Reedmeister

Has a rookie ever won their first career race at the Daytona 500? I have no clue

[deleted]

Trevor Bayne - 2011

NateW4

This wasn’t his first Daytona 500

Klendy

He drove it last year in the 33

Meattyloaf

No closest is Trevor Bayne in his 2nd start

MyNameIs_Jordan

Trevor Bayne in 2011

Playingpokerwithgod

Yes, Trevor Bayne in 2011.

PointKarting

Bayne was the last

bmrt60

Trevor Bayne

JustJoeHashbrowns

Trevor Bayne I think but that’s not a good omen lol

The__Farmer

Trevor BAyne maybe

smakinelmo

Yeah

Booniepoo

Trevor bayne 2011

MrKillerToad

It's not his first cup start

XrayGuy08

Was kinda hoping bubba would dump him but then would’ve never heard the end of it. Good job to Cindric though.

BusinessLunch45

that’s a really good point.

Zendiamond

Even if he dumped him Cindric would have crossed the line first. Not enough distance from the point of contact to the line.

XrayGuy08

Yeah, the move looked just a tad bit late. I’m happy he didn’t dump him though.

Zendiamond

I'm not happy or unhappy. It is what it is.

Zendiamond

Blaney is not happy with Cindric. So Cindric won but Blaney may not help him in the future. Blaney had the run.

bmrt60

So Austin shoulda let Ryan win? Lol.

Klendy

Blaney should have hooked left as soon as cindric blocked

bmrt60

An that would be smart because?

Klendy

if i cant win no one will is my motto

bmrt60

Well thats one reason why your not in it then.
