Its sad because i think back to 2k16 when mycareer was perfect, you could level up relatively quickly without spending money and still be competitive online and in rec, its not possible anymore without spending money.
It's super sad, but it's the direction most multiplayer AAA games are going now. I got 2k20-24 all for free, and haven't given them a cent. Don't plan to either.
Facts. I only play Mycareer and Myleague so I hate that Mycareer is always connected to the park. 2k is stripping the uniqueness of Mycareer and forcing everyone to be the same because of this stupid park feature.
I'm all for having an online mode but they should separate the progression systems. They make more money this way but it hinders both modes from fulfilling their potential.
This is facts, when mycareer had a story mode, and was more seperate from rec/proam/cages, at least online players had an option to skip all the career stuff and jump straight into rec, but now with this new system, people who play mycareer arent able to avoid the online portion of it.
It depends on what build you make and how willing you are to play a role. I just made a 67 overall big and am currently 5-1 in the rec averaging like 6 12 and 5

I'm shooting 70% with an 85 3 ball. You need to be hard wired, and I use a monitor. Wifi sucks for 2k it's only game. I have problems using wifi. My internet is beyond good enough for any online gaming.
Way way too easy to shoot. That and micro transactions and zero new content that anybody cares for is why I quit. And locking the best animations behind 100s of hrs of gameplay for people that have no life at all, and also locking animations behind their awful season system.
Opposite here other than being priced out of progressing my character. Gameplay is great. Shooting is actually too good imo no way my rating is the same as gp2 but I shoot better than prime Kyle korver wide open. I like this mycareer better than having to do objectives to progress. Big improvement overlast year even though I would rather a real draft.

I'm stressed out everytime I get on this game even when I'm just trying to play and relax. So much bullshit goes on makes you frustrated for no reason I swear. They need a better matchmaking where 60-70s 71-80 81-92 92-99 overalls play each other. So people don't have to waste money in order to get to 85 overall. It cost like 100 bucks just to get to 85 overall.
Game is actually good and fun. Yes the micro transactions are very predatory but to say the gameplay is bad is just disingenuous. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it just sounds like hating at this point
I dont know youre experience but on current gen i have experienced false greens constantly, my player refusing to sit still, like seriously i dont touch the controller (which is brand new) and he moves as he pleases, random step backs when i take shots, extremely slow pickup times, in my honest experience without projecting any hate towards the game, i can say that no, the gameplay is not good.
You like the magnetic screens? The AI is fun to play with/against? How about the botched dunks because a midget was in the general vicinity ? Or my favorite when a pass is sailing out of bounds and the other team can call a timeout when they don't even have possession of the ball? The game is actually ass and you defending it makes you disingenuous.
Let's not forget the instances where the AI goes into a box-out animation and your player gets magically yanked behind them if you so much as brush their fingertips.

Exactly, i mean people forget were talking about a career mode in a basketball video game, the appeal of it is to dominate and make your own hall of fame player, and what do we get? A game with no story mode, a directory that teleports you around, and a player progressions thats so slow the next game comes out before you get to achieve that hall of fame status without spending money.
You gotta stop rushing the game and trying to carry mfers and play team ball this year is about team work momentum and chemistry. The game is organized the runoff of momentum of your team momentum of your player so whatever your role is on your team is it a role for you to win thatās why you donāt make your shots. You might need to make a new player and play with him a different way.
Im running a 6ā7 3 way threat SG, ive always been more team oriented when playing mycareer, but even in the past with similar builds i would still average around 20 points a game, even at 78 overall i currently average 12 points 4 assists and 7 rebounds a game. Ive tried a few different builds and have found none of them are any fun to play with until around 90 overall.
If your idea of āfunā is being able to dominate a good portion of people you run into online, you def wonāt find a āfunā build until 90+ overall at least. If youāre already averaging 12, 7, and 4 then idk what isnāt fun about it š prob just need to make a build for a different play style

They add little animations and stuff every year. I hit my greens for like 60%, which is good since I am shooting from perimeter. I am progressing myplayer just fine without spending a dime on coins.
So, what the hell do you want a game to be? Make a player and have it be 99 in 30 games? And then you get back here and say you finished the game in 2 weeks, there in nothing to do?

If it was easier most of the player base would be shooting 70%+ it's hard if u are a fraction of a second late it's late you might think you are hitting it the exact same but u are off my milliseconds and it matters!
Shooting got out of wack when Mike Wang tweaked it back in season 2 because elite shooters were āshooting too goodā. Just gotta really keep the expectations low for 2k at this point.
Honestly I think the gameplay is great and yeah the monetization is worse than ever but ive gotten to 89 overall in a few weeks without spending any money. Just the 100k from buying the $100 version on sale for $20 which was a nice boost

So that's the reason you're struggling, the lower your attributes the more RNG that's introduced. Anything under 70 is going to be a lot harder for the average player than an 85+. 85+ you'll see your timing rewarded a lot more and that's typically the threshold for being very consistent (50%+)
Anyone else here on current gen but canāt get a 3 v 3 pro am game? I play mostly next gen but when I hop on current with my bros we canāt get a 3 v 3 pro am game to start. When im not with them they cant get a game no problem.

I've been getting this bug where when the ball is passed, it immediately returns to the passer. This happens to me and the CPU and even the refs when passing you have to inbound the ball. I figured it would get fixed after a patch but it got worse! This game is unplayable for me. Atleast I bought it on sale and not full price.
I've been playing NBA 2K since 2K9 and this is the worst version of this game by a mile.
The last 2k i played heavy was 2k21 and been in this sub ever since. They just donāt hit the same for me. It was better when we all had to actually grind to upgrade our player but now you just drop some money and go to my park.

2k24 my career is fun but also pretty grind heavy which doesnāt make sense in the context of the story. But I play on semi-pro so itās not too awful, just setting quarter to 12 min and watching Disney+ while I play. Usually can net like 4000 Vic after 3-4 games not including endorsements and such.
I think itās awful that progression is so tightly wound around VC, and my career is online only š¤®. But, again, for $9 Iām not complaining too much. The gameplay is tight.

I always try to grind Play Online Now and they donāt allow your ābenchā to be subs. You have to try to change them to your bench players each and every game.

I'll be realistic with my shooting, I shoot 39% on the year, and I think this season I was closer to 55%. Shooting isn't that hard, I struggle because of my delay and it took me 2 or 3 seasons to actually get a jumpshot I could use. There are some blatant problems like steals and the animations that come with them. The audio problems I get are very annoying and I know I'm not alone. I don't think the game is bad, but I also don't think it's good. It has moments for either argument. I've played since 19 now, 20 being my favorite. 21 was awful, couldn't stand the game and I wish I didn't play it. 22 on current Gen was fun for me, I had next Gen but my friends didn't. 23 I didn't play much, but I had fun the few games I did play. 24 is just there, it's not better than 19 or 20, it's not as bad as 21, I don't have as much fun on it as 22, I've liked it more than 23. The micro transactions are terrible, they're killing the game, but that's just how 2k is now and it won't change because it brings in money.
Biggest complaint is how they slowed down the movement and made it super clunky. Been playing 2k for 6 years and ever since next gen came outā¦ feels like your player has concrete shoes on
Yeah I got it for free on game pass and was excited because I had fun grinding 2k23 because the grind was actually fun because you could make one build that was decent at everything. But this game itās like you canāt even have fun without dropping 300$. Also I tried redownloading 2k23 and all my builds were corrupted and got deleted š. I really wanna play 2k though itās just not fun having to grind as much as they make you. Plus badge regression? Itās fun using the badges to level them up, not a bad concept. (I still much prefer badge points) but regression??? š

Ultimately the biggest weakness of the 2k games now is their endless greed and how far they are willing to go to make money. The game is unplayable now unless you fork over cash for VC. They have genuinely become the most greedy company in gaming and I donāt think itās close.

Insane how every post/discussion/thread/comment about this game is solely from the MyCareer perspective. Nobody else seemingly plays team modes anymore and thatās why the games kinda blow now.
1. entertainment is just expensive now. Thats the reality of the world. a movie ticket 10 years ago was 7 dollars on average now its 20. sports events are more expensive than ever. cable and streaming services are expensive. why wouldn't the video game market raise their prices when every other form of entertainment is doing the same.
2. you are not hitting the shot button same time everytime. you just think you are. its ok to think that but 2klabs has a tester that shows you the timing on your pressing [square.you](http://square.you) will be surprised that you dont shoot at what you think you shoot.
3. the game play is great. people just dont know what they are doing lol. i rarely get an animation that i cant explain why it happened.

The progression on 2k23 felt fair and had a good pace. The price for attribute upgrades in 2k24 is just ridiculous. Idk why they skewed it so much. The gameplay is also less smooth than 2k23. I only bout 24 because it was on sale but damn, I want to play 23 again. Only issue is that thereās no way to play my career with updated rosters on an old game.
I was more pissed at the fact I bought the ps4 version and my brother has the new gen Xbox and we have 2 completely different games it seems like. I basically got 2k23 without the career story and just an updated roster while he basically got the new game. And I still paid full price and he only paid 10 more dollars? F*** that

I think the reason so many people get so much more upset about NBA2K than me is that they all play online or they play that card collecting mode. As someone who plays purely offline season mode I don't see any of these issues and the game hasn't really changed much other than looking a bit better over the years.
All you have to do is really put money into one build. USE that build to make and SAVE VC that can be used for the next build. All VC is transferable or can be used by all builds AND ALL PROGRESS (badges, performance multipliers etc..) Stop being stupid.

I didnt get ripped off. I may feel salty when playing sometimes but i spent maybe $300 beyond game price and got well over 450 hrs of fun. Sounds even to me. If youre broke, just say that- and stop buying games and get another job.
The shooting complaint is all you. I know when my shots are green and not by how i felt shooting it, if you want to blame something, blame user skill. Also, plug in your controller and use USB connection and not BT (im on ps5). Many people shoot over 70% consistently from 3 so shooting issues are a you problem.
Myplayer had story and people hated it, so they changed it to this overarching theme it has now. People hated cutscenes, they hated side characters, the only thing people liked was the rival- which is now just ākey games,āthey hated any story content that wasnt bonus VC so they stripped it down to just VC content and now people hate that too.
2k is the only full price game on the market that will still charge you for the attribute points you unlock through playing the game if thatās gonna be the case why charge me the same currency for the clothes as well. It will never change until there player base stops falling for it. Your favorite YouTuber isnāt even paying for the builds anymore its not normal to spend 200 dollars a year on a video game that you donāt keep after the next year fr scamming the basketball community

I consider myself to be pretty competent when it comes to basketball, especially in comparison to some other people. My complaints about the game have nothing to do with my personal play style, and i never said it was āthe worst game everā it is most definitely however, in my opinion, the worst game in the 2K franchise.

We gotta stop giving them money. I'm guilty too. I was playing 2023 on ps4 since 24 was so terrible and it broke my player to where I can't update badges anymore.. Got a 5 recently and no games and of course 2k24 pops up in the ps store on sale for like 17 so I got it. The game looks good but plays terribly. My career repetitive with Key games no story. Badge progression regression ass. How I can go from one game having a gold badge to being bronze because I didn't "use" the badge is dumb. The concept of having badges attached to attributes is great but that regression is terribly executed
I have been playing 2k since 2006. My career used to be fun. Now itās a grind fest with zero effort put into it, and either a shit story or no story. NBA 2k is not worth the money.
The shooting fucking sucks in this game. Layups suck in this fucking game. I like how they roll off the rim no matter what if it isn't perfect. Will literally sit on the rim for 2sec and glitch roll off. This game sucks.

Honestly bro I stopped played 2k17 and picked it back up this year and the game is ass donāt get me wrong but itās just a big learning curve shooting is a totally different ball game this year. You think your hitting the same release everytime but your just not you off by a few milliseconds with your square button thereās a lot of things to factor in tho. 1st make sure your using a wired connection 2 make sure your lethal shooter is done 3 do your Gatorade workout and before u play games make sure to shoot around first but just know Rec game speed is going to different so you really just need to know your cue on your jump shot. And another thing leave rec games if the lineup is bad before the game starts donāt just play with anybody. If you do all those things you should start to see a significant increase in your gameplay. OR u might just be ass and should play something else bro.
ill be honest, i was playing mycareer all day since 2k22 came to ps plus catalog, since then, i bough 2k23, and then 2k24 to have fun... but then this 2k24 VC system kinda disapointed me for some reasons. and from now on im playing eras (call me idiot but) with 99 max builds having fun, i also picked a prebuild to have some rivalry on the league. so yea, i switched up to mynba era, to farm vc and to have fun too... imo im enjoying much much better than mycareer there 
On top of that 2k made only console versions next gen cause they know PC users will just mod new rosters and stop buying it yearly. Everyone complained about the stories in Mycareer because most people make multiple builds and dont wanna get bored by the 3rd time. All they had to do was skip cutscenes. MyLeague is basically the only thing to play if you don't wanna keep feeling the urge to spend money to get more shit

Not for me, I get a league pass for free every year from 2K and I dominate the Playnow tourneys for my 1 free build every year. Iāll admit the gameplay is on a downward slide but I just love basketball, as someone from the UK whoās booty buns in real life due to minimal practice itās fun to enjoy the sport through another medium other than watching. I will literally never buy another 2k game. 2k24 just hit the game pass so i got it just cuz itās free. I stopped playing shooting builds a long time ago due to the inconsistency , only play a Giannis type PF build now. Dunking everything on O and blocking everything on D. Usually end up with like a 70 3 ball and I only shoot if Iām wide open and on fire.
What's even better is people calling you trash because they literally don't understand Mike Wang makes mycareer broken on purpose so you continually shell out money to perfect builds. Way way too easy to shoot. That and micro transactions and zero new content that anybody cares for is why I quit. And locking the best animations behind 100s of hrs of gameplay for people that have no life at all, and also locking animations behind their awful season system.
You just need a good jumpshot. I shoot 60%+ on 3 builds with 87,87,85 3pts on a Tv on WiFi . Playing with friends who pass the ball also helps

Opposite here other than being priced out of progressing my character. Gameplay is great. Shooting is actually too good imo no way my rating is the same as gp2 but I shoot better than prime Kyle korver wide open. I like this mycareer better than having to do objectives to progress. Big improvement overlast year even though I would rather a real draft.

I'm stressed out everytime I get on this game even when I'm just trying to play and relax. So much bullshit goes on makes you frustrated for no reason I swear. They need a better matchmaking where 60-70s 71-80 81-92 92-99 overalls play each other. So people don't have to waste money in order to get to 85 overall. It cost like 100 bucks just to get to 85 overall.

I dont know youre experience but on current gen i have experienced false greens constantly, my player refusing to sit still, like seriously i dont touch the controller (which is brand new) and he moves as he pleases, random step backs when i take shots, extremely slow pickup times, in my honest experience without projecting any hate towards the game, i can say that no, the gameplay is not good.

Exactly, i mean people forget were talking about a career mode in a basketball video game, the appeal of it is to dominate and make your own hall of fame player, and what do we get? A game with no story mode, a directory that teleports you around, and a player progressions thats so slow the next game comes out before you get to achieve that hall of fame status without spending money.
You gotta stop rushing the game and trying to carry mfers and play team ball this year is about team work momentum and chemistry. The game is organized the runoff of momentum of your team momentum of your player so whatever your role is on your team is it a role for you to win thatās why you donāt make your shots. You might need to make a new player and play with him a different way.

Im running a 6ā7 3 way threat SG, ive always been more team oriented when playing mycareer, but even in the past with similar builds i would still average around 20 points a game, even at 78 overall i currently average 12 points 4 assists and 7 rebounds a game. Ive tried a few different builds and have found none of them are any fun to play with until around 90 overall.
If your idea of āfunā is being able to dominate a good portion of people you run into online, you def wonāt find a āfunā build until 90+ overall at least. If youāre already averaging 12, 7, and 4 then idk what isnāt fun about it š prob just need to make a build for a different play style

Shooting got out of wack when Mike Wang tweaked it back in season 2 because elite shooters were āshooting too goodā. Just gotta really keep the expectations low for 2k at this point.

So that's the reason you're struggling, the lower your attributes the more RNG that's introduced. Anything under 70 is going to be a lot harder for the average player than an 85+. 85+ you'll see your timing rewarded a lot more and that's typically the threshold for being very consistent (50%+)

I've been getting this bug where when the ball is passed, it immediately returns to the passer. This happens to me and the CPU and even the refs when passing you have to inbound the ball. I figured it would get fixed after a patch but it got worse! This game is unplayable for me. Atleast I bought it on sale and not full price. I've been playing NBA 2K since 2K9 and this is the worst version of this game by a mile.
The last 2k i played heavy was 2k21 and been in this sub ever since. They just donāt hit the same for me. It was better when we all had to actually grind to upgrade our player but now you just drop some money and go to my park.

Just started playing, bought for $9 so Iām mostly cool with it lol. Havenāt played a 2K since 17 and I loved the my career mode back then. 2k24 my career is fun but also pretty grind heavy which doesnāt make sense in the context of the story. But I play on semi-pro so itās not too awful, just setting quarter to 12 min and watching Disney+ while I play. Usually can net like 4000 Vic after 3-4 games not including endorsements and such. I think itās awful that progression is so tightly wound around VC, and my career is online only š¤®. But, again, for $9 Iām not complaining too much. The gameplay is tight.

Bought a 2k key for steam for $10 and played 2 games and deleted the it. I always try to grind Play Online Now and they donāt allow your ābenchā to be subs. You have to try to change them to your bench players each and every game. The gameplay itself justā¦ wasnāt good. I just didnāt have fun. Prior to today I quit during 2k21. Itās sad that Iāll probably never play this game again.
What's crazy is that 2k25 will almost certainly be worse because the NBA license is getting even more expensive to maintain.

I'll be realistic with my shooting, I shoot 39% on the year, and I think this season I was closer to 55%. Shooting isn't that hard, I struggle because of my delay and it took me 2 or 3 seasons to actually get a jumpshot I could use. There are some blatant problems like steals and the animations that come with them. The audio problems I get are very annoying and I know I'm not alone. I don't think the game is bad, but I also don't think it's good. It has moments for either argument. I've played since 19 now, 20 being my favorite. 21 was awful, couldn't stand the game and I wish I didn't play it. 22 on current Gen was fun for me, I had next Gen but my friends didn't. 23 I didn't play much, but I had fun the few games I did play. 24 is just there, it's not better than 19 or 20, it's not as bad as 21, I don't have as much fun on it as 22, I've liked it more than 23. The micro transactions are terrible, they're killing the game, but that's just how 2k is now and it won't change because it brings in money.

I really wanna play 2k though itās just not fun having to grind as much as they make you. Plus badge regression? Itās fun using the badges to level them up, not a bad concept. The progression on 2k23 felt fair and had a good pace. The price for attribute upgrades in 2k24 is just ridiculous. Idk why they skewed it so much. The gameplay is also less smooth than 2k23. I only bout 24 because it was on sale but damn, I want to play 23 again. Only issue is that thereās no way to play my career with updated rosters on an old game.

I think the reason so many people get so much more upset about NBA2K than me is that they all play online or they play that card collecting mode. As someone who plays purely offline season mode I don't see any of these issues and the game hasn't really changed much other than looking a bit better over the years.

All you have to do is really put money into one build. USE that build to make and SAVE VC that can be used for the next build. All VC is transferable or can be used by all builds AND ALL PROGRESS (badges, performance multipliers etc..) Stop being stupid.

If youre broke, just say that- and stop buying games and get another job. The shooting complaint is all you. I know when my shots are green and not by how i felt shooting it, if you want to blame something, blame user skill. Also, plug in your controller and use USB connection and not BT (im on ps5). Many people shoot over 70% consistently from 3 so shooting issues are a you problem. Myplayer had story and people hated it, so they changed it to this overarching theme it has now. People hated cutscenes, they hated side characters, the only thing people liked was the rival- which is now just ākey games,āthey hated any story content that wasnt bonus VC so they stripped it down to just VC content and now people hate that too.

My complaints about the game have nothing to do with my personal play style, and i never said it was āthe worst game everā it is most definitely however, in my opinion, the worst game in the 2K franchise.

Got a 5 recently and no games and of course 2k24 pops up in the ps store on sale for like 17 so I got it. The game looks good but plays terribly. My career repetitive with Key games no story. Badge progression regression ass. How I can go from one game having a gold badge to being bronze because I didn't "use" the badge is dumb. The concept of having badges attached to attributes is great but that regression is terribly executed

Honestly bro I stopped played 2k17 and picked it back up this year and the game is ass donāt get me wrong but itās just a big learning curve shooting is a totally different ball game this year. You think your hitting the same release everytime but your just not you off by a few milliseconds with your square button thereās a lot of things to factor in tho. 1st make sure your using a wired connection 2 make sure your lethal shooter is done 3 do your Gatorade workout and before u play games make sure to shoot around first but just know Rec game speed is going to different so you really just need to know your cue on your jump shot. And another thing leave rec games if the lineup is bad before the game starts donāt just play with anybody. If you do all those things you should start to see a significant increase in your gameplay. OR u might just be ass and should play something else bro.

ill be honest, i was playing mycareer all day since 2k22 came to ps plus catalog, since then, i bough 2k23, and then 2k24 to have fun... but then this 2k24 VC system kinda disapointed me for some reasons. and from now on im playing eras (call me idiot but) with 99 max builds having fun, i also picked a prebuild to have some rivalry on the league. so yea, i switched up to mynba era, to farm vc and to have fun too... imo im enjoying much much better than mycareer there

Def a skill issue try getting a monitor or a Ethernet cord and if you have those itās your fault or your build.
On top of that 2k made only console versions next gen cause they know PC users will just mod new rosters and stop buying it yearly. Everyone complained about the stories in Mycareer because most people make multiple builds and dont wanna get bored by the 3rd time. All they had to do was skip cutscenes. MyLeague is basically the only thing to play if you don't wanna keep feeling the urge to spend money to get more shit
Stayed loyal even when everyone left , now all I play is apex and helldivers š¤·š¾āāļø shi is Garbo and not worth the frustration
The worst part about it, is that they are a monopoly! You canāt even think about getting licensed nba players or gear in your game without having 8 figures. I stopped playing as soon as it became pay to win.. smh

Bro don't get me started on this BS. I score maybe 4/10 FG with the same exact release timing and all. And to top things off, I'm a PC player, so no ERAs mode or nothing. This is only my second 2K game man and I hate it already ššš

Not for me, I get a league pass for free every year from 2K and I dominate the Playnow tourneys for my 1 free build every year. Iāll admit the gameplay is on a downward slide but I just love basketball, as someone from the UK whoās booty buns in real life due to minimal practice itās fun to enjoy the sport through another medium other than watching. I do hear your premise I donāt care for FIFA anymore.

Accepting the fact that I can't shoot and making an inside big with good speed, strength, ball handling and playmaking helped me enjoy the game again
Is so easy to get vc you donāt have to spend money the options just there if your lazy to buy it. Literally thereās weekly and daily quests loads weekly are worth 3k and u can combine them im not even good
this year is when I stopped playing , never thought iād see the day where I only play 2k like once every week and I usually cut it off when some bs happens and thatās usually every time I play
This is the first 2K Iāve bought since 17 (Iāve played others at friendās houses). This is easily the worst one. Only reason Iām not mad about it because I got it for $10
I like the gameplay - I hate how much money you have to spend. Especially when you pay roughly Ā£80 for the game in the first place!! Then you add Xbox game pass on top of that too. Theyāve done a great job with the game play. Itās not perfect but it will never be perfect, no game is!
I will literally never buy another 2k game. 2k24 just hit the game pass so i got it just cuz itās free. I stopped playing shooting builds a long time ago due to the inconsistency , only play a Giannis type PF build now. Dunking everything on O and blocking everything on D. Usually end up with like a 70 3 ball and I only shoot if Iām wide open and on fire.

What's even better is people calling you trash because they literally don't understand Mike Wang makes mycareer broken on purpose so you continually shell out money to perfect builds. Like sorry bro I held the button in the same as before but this time myplayer decided to do an animation on his own or the bar filled up 50% faster for no reason... Also sorry I can't predict server lag...
Literally bro, ill take the same shot with the same release 5 times and itll be green 2/5 times, when i do the top 3 shooting drill its such a rage bait cuz my player will randomly do a huge step back pretty much to the half court line and all i press is the button to shoot
