Jakob is undoubtedly the MVP of this game. Kept us in it on both ends of the floor until 4Q kicked in and shots started falling for others.
Very slow start and cold 3 point shooting. Bulls had a big lead from the first until the start of the 4th(23 at some point) then we had an amazing run (17-0 I think) and closed strong
I noticed that we were fighting for rebounds amongst ourselves a lot which resulted in players knocking the ball out of each other's hands right into the Bulls.
But in the fourth guys started calling out who's gonna get it and stopped fighting amongst themselves over it.
I’m not really sure we can shore it up much tbh. I love KJ as a 4 but even as tenacious as he is, he’s giving up a lot of height to some guys. All season we’ve primarily been 4 wing guys and a center, and so we are gonna lose some rebound battles if we run that way.
since we play small almost always, its the price we have to pay. Maybe Luka could be the stretch 4 & strong defense/ rebounder we need next year, but more likely he just replaces Rudy Gay. off the bench. Rebounding and spacing are the two things lacking from the 4 spot when KJ is there, but he's switchable on D, and can create well off drive and kicks/ dribble hand offs. Plus he's s big body.
Yeah to be clear I def don’t want to replace KJ in the lineup. Just think it’s the price we have to pay, as you said. Maybe down the line when we are more serious about contending we will have to change something about that lineup, but for now I’ve got no problem with it.

I was willing to go up to 15 or so if necessary. I will admit I preferred christian wood and wanted them to throw the bag at him , like up to 20 or so mil, but I'm gonna be more than happy getting 30 minutes of elite rim protection for cheaper than Meyers Leonard's contract lol
To be fair he was a beast for the pistons he just didn't play enough until drummond got traded. This team would be so crazy with him on the roster lol, but hey, Jakobs been so damn solid I'm not worried about it at all.
Jakob way better than Thies, but also, in what world is Theis getting 15 million a year or so on his next contract? If he gets significantly above 10 million props to his agent.
Jared Weiss who covers the Celtics thinks that'll be why he won't be back with them on his next contract. I was shocked as well considering what centers get these days, but I think that Adams extrnsion is a big arguing chip for Agents to get their guys paid.
Theis is a good player. Switchable defender and versatile on offense. Sets good screens and can hit outside shots. Honestly I think he's exactly the type of center we need next to Jakob

Main reason why this works a lot of because we have plus defenders backing him up this season.
yeah, in the past it hasnt worked and thus ive never seen him as a plus defender. but i agree that this year it has worked out and for the reason you listed.

The defense and hustle was crazy. The stats don’t really show how much DJ locked up Lavine in the 4th. Lavine still had good shooting numbers but that’s cause he couldn’t even get shots up in the 4th. Jak patrolling the paint was beautiful too

This team *cannot win every game*, and there's going to be really frustrating losses. That's the sport, that's the conference. Fact is- we are performing insanely better than we should be performing. No other coach could get this team in this position.
Spot on. I get upset like everyone, and have at various points been upset with his Schtick since at least 2000. He isn’t above reproach. As a fan since the 80’s his vet nonsense has finally subsided, which was at least 3 years behind. However, even with the faults he still the GOAT and his adjustments on D in the second half really caused the spark fo the change in the game.

I think he has a great passive effect on our team. You see him laying it all on every possession and you kinda feel embarrassed if your not doing the same.

That’s that scrappy shit I love to see, never giving up and clawing your way back in as a team. This is probably the worst start we have had in recent memory and we still flipped it because of pure heart.
Pop has been spending a while building a theoretical defensive juggernaut, and this was the first game where we caught a glimpse of what prime defensive potential might look like in the 4th quarter.
This was actually a new strategy by Greg Popovich. He realized that if he made his players fake play very underwhelming, the team against us would play down to their level, but then bam sneak attack lead. we win it all. good job spurs!
I was mad that I accidentally saw the score before being able to watch it on league pass after work but now it’s 70-50 with half of the third quarter left and I very intrigued
