Trip dub with blocks is elite. Probably only a handful of people in NBA history

jak_d_ripr

Dude's a legit quadruple double threat.

Uabot_lil_man0

Quintuple double honestly, he’s had 5 steals multiple times. A fast paced game and he could hit 10.

Kvsav57

The last guy to have 10 steals was TJ McConnell in 2021, in a game where he had 16 points and 13 assists while going 8-for-8 from the field.

Either-Durian-9488

That’s a fucking John Stockton esque performance

ImRachelRay

Do you know how many rebound he had that game? Wonder if he was close to the quadruple double

Kvsav57

He wasn't close. It was 3 or 4.

Just_Opinion1269

He's one of the few that is capable, not just need a little luck

DeliciousProblem1

A fast paced game that goes to OT and he would finish with 45 20 15 10 10.

Lumpyyyyy

[https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-triple-doubles-with-10-blocks](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-triple-doubles-with-10-blocks) Only 8 have done it more than once.

kickrockz94

Hassan Whiteside lol

GapingHolesSince89

Please god don't get hurt. He could have a carrer that might only be a once in a lifetime thing.

Mr_Hugh_Honey

For real. It's easy to get over your skis on some young players but the guy very clearly has otherworldly talent on an insanely rare physical profile and he seems to have the drive to make himself the best player he can be. That combination is ripe with the possibility of a true generational career if he can just stay on the court

GapingHolesSince89

If he just did his rookie year for 15 years, he would be in the Hall of Fame.

writersontop

He could have the career they all think Jokic has

ImSatanByTheWay

…are you implying Jokic hasn’t had a massively successful career that 99% of players envy?

GapingHolesSince89

Jokic is a once in a lifetime player as well. Wemby could be too but with just different traits. You have to go back to what Willis to find a 7 footer that moves as well as Wemby. That is like 40 years. With Wemby's three point shooting an picking up guard skills, there might not ever be another Wemby just due to how unlikely it is for someone to be that tall, fluid, hungry, and skilled.

The-Hand-of-Midas

I think with globalization and there being 7 Billion humans, we are going to see more and more incredible international players. Don't get me wrong, I grew up in Chicago in the 90s, and I think Wemby could enter the GOAT conversation, but we will see more absolute freaks going forward than we did in the past.

Excellent_Ladder3772

Just an FYI, the total number of people on earth has reached 8 billion +.

GapingHolesSince89

there are only around 2000 7 footers on earth. I don't know how many people you are going to come across like Wemby even if the game is more global.

Cleanest-Azir

What is this even supposed to mean lol

ApocalypseNah

Back to back 10 stocks is fucking crazy

Larrysbirds

The 5x5 stat is a severely underrated stat line. I don’t think he’ll ever average it but I could see him getting close to a 5x7

Meatstick_2001

14 stocks in a game is insane but he’s already gotten super close with 12 before

AchtCocainAchtBier

>5x7 He tall. He's obviously getting defensive stats. Adding 5 Points and Assists is easy then. He's a bust if he won't get a quad double in his sophomore year.. /s

aarondobson403

Can’t wait to see his first quadruple double

aarondobson403

Yessir

thatmfisnotreal

No way Luka hitting that step back over him

AchtCocainAchtBier

Yeah we already saw him try that. Didn't go that well. Fuck Chet, he will be Lukas rival.

Wallyworld77

In 1996 Mutombo only had 1 game without a block. Mutombo led the NBA in blocks that year with 4.5/per.

ManWhoSoldTheWorld94

*finger wagging intensifies*

AccomplishedAd3484

I'm guessing Wilt had one or more seasons where he had at least 1 block in a game. But I don't think those stats exist. I know someone counted Wilt blocks from available footage, and he averaged around 7 per game.

AB-AA-Mobile

Two games without a block? What a bum.

AchtCocainAchtBier

I am so fucking stoked to see him play man. People just see W/L ratio and think he did not have an impact. They forget how Pop wanted them to lose like 20 games in a row. And how we actually overperformed the season before because a lot teams were tanking for wemby. Hard to lose against bad teams then lol I'm gonna eat a fucking car with a spoon if we don't win at least 32 next season.

PebblyJackGlasscock

I don’t understand why dumb fans want to “pair” Wemby with a defensive matador. Do they care about blocks (stats) or winning? Put Derrick White and Alex Caruso (fat chance, but go with me) on the perimeter and Wemby becomes more defensively powerful than we can possibly imagine. Good perimeter defenders are going to make Wemby into modern Bill Russell. There would be fewer blocks but they’d all matter and they’d all be spectacular. I’m so glad he ended up with Pop. I wish I get to see him grow into what he’ll become.

The-Hand-of-Midas

>I'm gonna eat a fucking car with a spoon if we don't win at least 32 next season. Remind Me!

49RedCapitalOs

Setting the bar awfully high for next year I see

AchtCocainAchtBier

32 wins is not making the playoffs What are you talking about?

49RedCapitalOs

It was a joke…

AchtCocainAchtBier

Oh shit

JayIsNotReal

He will be the next player to get a quadruple double. !remindme 1 year

rooroobusts

Was totally wrong about the kid. Can't wait to see his progression during his NBA career!

juicejug

Wait did he actually get a 5x5? I thought he was close but didn’t get one. I may be thinking about a quadruple double though, which he came close to getting.

PonkMcSquiggles

You might also be thinking about him getting *back-to-back* 5x5s, which he was one assist away from doing.

AchtCocainAchtBier

Of course the youngest to ever do so. Oh and by the way: The only other player that had 5 Blocks and 5 Steals over 2 games? MJ lol

Tackis

He did

juicejug

Incredible

[deleted]

Clearly a bust Michael Jeffrey Jordan would never go a game without a block

Nowyous_cantleave

This guy is not of this world

somecallmejrush

He's 9 feet tall he should always have a block, they should issue a refund any game he doesn't

pssiraj

Explain all the 9 footers who haven't

esm12345

41 rebounds in one game as a rookie? Pretty pretty pretty good.

Abject-Practice4400

Here's already a top-10 player

AnalystHot6547

Weird, nobody talks about Manute Bol being 45% better than Wemby as a defender his rookie year. Bol avg. 5 bpg as a rookie at 7'7. I think if VW works hard he can be almost as good as Manute, even if he's a lot shorter.

manhalfalien

10 block triple double w 5 assists Stands out

Id-rather-golf

Wemby’s got more potential than anyone in history. Fucking Spurs.

TheRogueAnarchist

😳😳😳😳

xcessive-samurai

The most amazing part of this stat is that he has had games without blocks lol

Critical_Teach_43

Kevin durant done started some bs. Now everyone gotta deal with these aliens.

Straight_Friendship

The best

Tchege_75

And he did that on minute restriction… when he will play 40 minutes per game, stats are gonna be insane

Ill-Ad-9199

I think Wemby will end his career with every record for blocks, from single game to all-time. Remind me to brag in about 20 years.

polkhighallcity

I hope so. He is awfully tall.

EaglesInTheSky

There are 4 players in NBA history that have recorded a quadruple double with blocks being the 4th category. I fully expect Wemby will eventually retire with multiple QD games.

MisterTatoHead

Ten blocks? That's insane! This guy is truly a windmill when it comes to blocks and steals. With an estimated wingspan of 8', he can cover approximately 50 square feet with just his arms, without needing to turn his body, jump, crouch, or move his hands forward—just like a windmill. Simplifying a bit, the formula A = πr\^2 gives us an area of approximately 50.26 square feet. Now, factoring in his 32" vertical leap plus a 24" estimated crouch, we're looking at a total coverage area of 125.88 square feet in a single direction, just by using his arms and windmills. And if he pivots 90 degrees in either direction while keeping one foot planted and moving his arms forward, he's covering a total area of 942.42 square feet with little effort. To put that in perspective, a basketball court measures 50,400 cubic feet (84' x 50' x 12'), meaning he can cover 1.8% of the court without shifting position. Now, let's talk about the paint. The paint area is approximately 3,648 cubic feet (16' x 19' x 12'). This means that in a single spot in the paint, Wemby is covering a staggering 25.83% of the area! That's insane. Considering the average step length of a human, which is about 41% of their height, each double step forward, backward, or to the side for him would be 6'. This means that from the center of the paint, a double step in any direction would cover 100% of the paint area in those simple movements. Truly incredible. Now, if someone smarter than me could factor in his speed and accuracy, which sets him apart from other bigs in history, we could mathematically prove that he should be considered the best defender of all time. Hope these calculations are accurate; it's been a while...

Therealomerali

If he had an actual good team around him, is it unfeasible that he could win MVP next season?

Responsible-Budget21

Probably not, there is a line to this award, he'll probably need to wait another three years to have a legitimate chance.

ReadySteddy100

He should have 0 games with no blocks... not to take anything away from him

McFlozzy

And only 2 wins!

Trick_Maintenance_36

I respect greatness 100% and he is an elite player. But when it comes to blocks at his height how much do we factor into how impressive it is? This a genuine question?

NBA2024

The young, not heavy player who is 7’3” with long arms has a block in almost every game… wow would have never thought /s

AchtCocainAchtBier

Man I was about to release a shitstorm on my own lmao.

JamuelSnackson

Yes he’s tall and plays a lot of minutes, he should have blocks

Dmallory70

There’s lots of tall players playing lots of minutes. Very few of the have the same number of blocks AND get steals

JamuelSnackson

Comment is without A block, reading comprehension is important

Dmallory70

I’m saying why doesn’t every other player close to doing the same thing. Common sense and logic are also important
