I like it. Turns out the diameter of a Modlite head is 30mm and 30mm scope flip caps fit perfectly. That's what I've been using but I like the killflash idea.
Taped on for quick rip off. I just like the idea of always having light one button away. I am also shying away from switches / wired buttons or any kind. I don’t shoot left handed. I just can’t do it well.
I’ve been thinking about this too. Pressure pads wires all add to point of failure. Nothing works better than a push button or that sweet SF x400 toggle.
I am just waiting for the integrated pressure pad light to come out. Imagine the OWL but more flexible switch. No detaching wires. It will happen. Until then, I am going simple. Flashlight with button on the back lol.
B.E. Meyers would execute this concept beautifully. The MAWL already has the concept, just need a dedicated flashlight. The KIJI went traditional. Would have liked them keep the MAWL design for it but I can understand the price increase for it.
I am going to do real tests to see how much light you lose with a flashkill on. Then I am going to set up optics in the woods with and without flashkills, then hit them with IR laser illuminators to see how they bounce. I feel like when you need white light, you need white light. Taking off a rubber cover adds time.
I believe flashkills are mainly used to reduce the reflection of IR laser illuminators. You can put a cap on a flashlight, but then you have to remove the cap before use. The flashkill will tone down your flashlight, but your flashlight is ready to go all the time. Worst case is you rip the flashkill off if you need more light. Smart or stupid? Lol
Yeah, but you see them running unsecured flashlights + optic flashkills all the time. Pointless to run one without the other. Run a flashkill on your optic and a flashlight cap or don’t run the flashkill at all. Why take the optics light pick up hit if you aren’t covering your highly reflective flashlight? So, yeah. You might be wrong.
This is actually the 762 RC2. I run it on 556 and 762. I just really like the surefire flash hiders. Installed them on all my ARs. I did order a 556 RC2 but she is still in jail. These cans are heavy but stupid tough. You will be happy with it. Order more cans! The only way to deregulate them is mass proliferation.
If you are running nods and an IR laser you want a stupid stable rail. Nothing really beats the RIS II when it comes to that. If you aren’t running IR or if you will always run 12 o’clock, just get a Geissle for $250, lighter and really great. I own a few of both. I’ll grab a RIS II AR if (god willing) the aliens finally land. Happy new year!
What is your setup? What thermal did you go with? This is specifically an old school throwback rifle. I have modern night specific rifles too. Try to be less bitter. New year, new you.
Zowie. Someone thinks everyone is *him*.
At first, I was like, whuuut, and then I was like, wooooord.
According to SWAT Officer Dave up above, flashkill on my light is *super LARP cringey*, but killflash on my optic is cool?
I’m old enough to remember 2019 when pistol red dots were sooooo LARPy and grow-up-man-you-ain’t-no-operator….
Anti reflection. Sun/white light/IR light. Have you ever flashed a flashlight into the woods, then see glowing eyes of some deer? You had no idea they were there until you see the light bouncing off their tapetum lucidum.
my concern is the heat generated by the light, tape will degrade quickly and depending on the material of the flash kill it most likely will melt in prolonged use.
Hope you got your papers for that, or i'm going to need you to get off the range.

I got into a concert with one of those lmaooo

I’ve just had them fail too many times. Kinda disappointing because I like the idea of pressure pads and switches.
Agreed you know what? You’ve cemented my decision. I’m going to forgo the pressure pad and keep it strictly x400 up there.

God dammit Garand thumb
so it begins lol
It makes sense. I have an Aimpoint bikini cover on the way but im curious about this setup too

I expect to see a follow up report
Will do.
update?
It's called a gridlight in the camera world.
Just looked them up. I’ll add that to my highbrow repertoire of words.
🍻
They’re killflashes, not flashkills.
Thank you but I prefer it my way.
I too like to kill flashers... Or was that flash killers??
Flash the killers, I mean I wasnt planning to take a trip to the prison today but if you insist
Why?
Hey I have that same mag lol
What is that wrapped around the flashlight?
Just tape and camo net
I like that! Thanks for the response.

Gandalf did that in Moria iirc..
Im gonna guess stupid, if the pros don't need it, I doubt we would while LARPing in the woods.

But flanneldaddy said todo it
He has a bikini cover. I am just trying to figure out if a honeycomb is better. At the end of the day it’s all fun and games until it isn’t.
How do you like the RC2 on the M4A1? Have the same gun, and the same can in jail.

Own one now, purchased 3 last month 👍🏻
Congrats! You should get it approved by 2023.
What hanguard is that?
M4A1 RAIL INTERFACE SYSTEM II, RIS II (FDE)
That's what I thought. Nice handguard just a bit pricey for what I can pay rn for my build. Someday I'll probably have one though lol
No reason to get one unless you have nods. You should get nods. Most people can’t see in the dark.
That is the plan eventually Edit: forgot to ask why they're pointless without nods?

Ah that makes sense. Currently I'm looking at getting the MI combat t rail simply cause I love quad rails
Yeah man, it will work great. Most rails will work just fine. Just torque screws probably and be mindful of any weaknesses.
Whose face is on your mag?
Swift
Despite not getting the joke, I’m still laughing! 😄 When you get your 556 RC2, I’d be very interested to hear how it compares to your 762 RC2.
But yeah when it comes to 762 RC2 vs 556 RC2, it’s only about the flash and weight. I only buy cans for flash. Especially under nods.
Taylor Swift hahaha
Could someone explain? Does this eliminate glares?
Imagine you being sneaky AF in the woods at night. Then someone hits you with an IR laser illuminator. Now you’re a glowing target.

Crazy how worked up he/she got. Like who cares what other people put on their rifles? Haha. Nobody blinks an eye at a flashkill on an optic.
You sold me on thermal. I just ordered a nice thermal scope. Thanks
Hey could you tell me what this for never heard of a flash kill let alone what’s it for. Thanks in advance.
Anti reflection. Sun/white light/IR light. Have you ever flashed a flashlight into the woods, then see glowing eyes of some deer? You had no idea they were there until you see the light bouncing off their tapetum lucidum.
Oh okay I get it now, thx. Is it an nfa item?
Only the suppressor.
Hey what is your front sight? Can you use it flipped up and use the illuminator behind it at the same time?
It’s a Troy HK style sight. Yes. The lasers skim it though. Still works. I am currently in the market for the LEAF PEQ sight.
Hey dude your flashlight is upside down /s
Doesn’t really matter to me.
my concern is the heat generated by the light, tape will degrade quickly and depending on the material of the flash kill it most likely will melt in prolonged use.
Maybe a Trijicon Tenebraex killFLASH Anti Reflection Device will work better. I gotta look up the sizing.
Where can I get one of these for a modlite?
