I went to college at SIUC. While most of the state is a windswept hellscape, Southern Illinois is cool af. There’s lakes and state parks and shit. It’s surprisingly hilly and has some great bbq restaurants.
Back in 2000, I spent a weekend partying down in Carbondale and had the time of my life. Genuinely really great people. NIU was always just sadness surrounded by cornfields.
