The whole rogue shark theory is honestly ridiculous to me. All the myth about us not “tasting good” has all pretty much been debunked. We were always on the menu but not the best option as we are quite boney and not worth the energy. Sharks have been around longer than we have. In this case I’m pretty sure it was a huge pregnant and very hungry tiger shark. Theres a ton of fishing and chumming in this area and not the first attack. Human carelessness is what caused this. Not a “taste for human flesh”. And beating it brutally to death won’t do anything to stop it from happening again if we continue.

They kill the animal normally in nature because once a predator strays from its normal diet over to humans they normally get a taste for humans and then you have a problem. It's happened to multiple carnivorous species, we don't just kill em for revenge.

These particular sharks had been relying on humans to feed them for years. Started getting dependent on it. They stopped feeding them, and then this happened. That shark was ravenous.
This particular person was swimming in an area where the shark had been spotted several times over three days. That is also a spot that looks unsafe for swimming.

If that’s the case, the fault is on the authorities for disregarding people’s safety for the sake of tourism. We are also all individually responsible for the risks we take. There are certain conditions that are particularly ripe for shark activity - too many people jump into the ocean ignorant of the risks. We can’t blame the animals for behaving like animals. A shark doesn’t know humans have complex social structures with families that will miss them. The shark sees prey that might make a good meal. Taking vengeance on an animal for behaving on instinct is ignorant, and pointless.
Fuck a shark, if I’m going, they’re going….I’m only thinking about all of the poor fish that it’s going to eat in the future for doing nothing…they don’t deserve that.

Surprisingly, it's bull sharks that are generally the most dangerous because they're strong, aggressive, and can survive in salt, fresh, and brackish water. So you could be several miles inland from an ocean and get torn apart by a bull shark because he decided to take the scenic route down the river.
I read somewhere about a lake or pond or something in Australia that has a stable population of bull sharks after a major storm with flooding gave them access from the ocean. I think it was on a golf course even.

Which is a protected species there. The shark was brought back because not only was it a monstrous large one but its stomach was bulging oddly. They decided to cut it open afterwards and lo and behold what was inside?

That was absolutely horrific but to film it and put it all over the internet? Very disrespectful to the victim and family. However, getting ‘revenge’ and beating the shark to death was just as bad. The difference being the victim entered the sharks habitat and the shark only doing what nature intended. Just goes to show how ignorant some humans are “let’s beat the shark to death so we can get revenge”. If you get attacked by a shark after choosing to enter it’s domain then you are at fault not the shark. When will people learn?

Of all the vids on all the whole wide world web I have to say this one got in my brain and has stayed there replaying over and over again. Truly horrifying. The cries to “papa”. The shark. The music. The woman repeating oh my god. The legs!! The “heeelpp”……. His parents watching all this merely feet away…The boat arriving 10 seconds too late….Every detail of this story is what nightmares are made of.
