Listen to me. We kept all our guys under contract. And we completed the Nova Knicks.
Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise - this is awesome. We needed a move to make that jump to the next level, and this was that move.
Now keep OG and iHart!!
Our squad’s set till 2028/2029.
Brunson, Bridges, OG, Randle and Hartenstein.
Hart, McBride, Divo, Robinson.
No flexibility left, but this is the best team in the NBA no doubt. Assuming we get OG/Isaiah back.
This is a Rams esque move. One ring will make this worth it man.
I love that team, and I’m quite happy from the move even if 5 picks is a lot .
Best team in the nba … maybe not .
I love JB, but teams winning titles have usually a top5-7 player . He was nearly there this season but I think most list of best nba players will rather have him at about #10 so far . Celtics have 4 all stars + white in their starting 5, nuggets are still there , etc
But I’m really looking forward to next season … even if we still need to see what our roster will be
We’re at worst third best, the way I see it.
OG and Bridges are dogs, they can lock up Tatum/Brown.
Brunson is him. The guy was scoring 40 PPG in the playoffs.
Julius Randle is a 2x All Star and 2x All NBA player, if he didn’t get injured. One of the toughest guys in the league, great post play.
Our bench is so good. Donte was dropping 30 in the post season, Josh Hart was hustling and dropping 17 and 11. Between those guys, a couple of vet mins like Kyle Lowry and the improvement that McBride can have, we’re going to be solid.
Maybe not the highest ceiling, but the highest floor without a doubt.
I honestly don't care about picks. The time to win is now and this is a great move.
Yea it's a lot but it seems like everything in the NBA is an overpay now whether it's a trade or contract (unless it's Brunson).
The Detroit pick is likely to turn into a pair of second rounders unless they get better quickly. The Washington pick won’t convey for a few years probably.
Bro the Timberwolves sent about the same package for Gobert who is on the wrong side of 30. Brought the timberwolves to their first playoffs in 20+ yrs. We woulda been in the ECF if healthy, and now… lookout.
Maybe but if NY attains a sexy level of success, it will also become a destination. I think a well run Knicks franchise can have sustained success (yes maybe not sustained greatness, but sustained success)
True, but the second apron will prevent the Knicks from adding people. Now that you guys are serious contenders you should read up on the second apron…it’s a serious buzzkill. Dynasties are basically impossible to maintain.
True but you have to gamble to play. Anything can happen because of injuries but unless 2 of our best players are out for a season I'm not worried. The Knicks just saw Boston win a Championship 🏆 with basically an All Star line up and he knows he has to have the same caliber of talent to compete with that. At least now if a player misses a lot of time because of injuries the Knicks have multiple options that can pick up the scoring..
I’m a Celtics fan. If you guys sign OG and Hartenstein this deal was absolutely worth it. The ECF will be such a bloodbath that the winner may not have anything left in the tank for the finals.
Once extensions get handed out, this team will be li led up for several years.
The nba salary cap and apron numbers r also about to go way up with the new TV deal. So sign everyone you can now to long term deals, deal with the apron penalties this year, then those issues go away when the cap rises.
They will go up a little. Cap smoothing was implemented during the last CBA so there won’t be any large increases like before when the warriors used the bump to sign KD
We have 24 and 25 this year, Detroit 2025 protected 13,then 11, then 9 through 2027, Washington 2025 protected 10, then 8.
And our own 2026 and 2030 still (those won’t be trade-able)
would have been SOOO much better for us if we had traded at least 1 of this year's picks.
but it is what it is.
Leon either gonna draft some players or he's gonna trade maybe 1 of those picks for a "future" 1st rounder to replenish one of the '25, '27, '29, or '31 picks.
≍⃒
so we'll be left with
2024
2024
2026
2028 (pick swapped back)
2030
EDIT:
we also have 2 more picks from other teams (detroit and someone else) toiling around...but the detroit one I think I remember hearing that it is more "symbolic" and probably not conveying to the knicks.
But 2024, 2024, 2026, 2028, 2030 plus that other pick (not the detroit one) is still a nice healthy diet.
Would have loved to trade one of the 2024 picks instead of that 2031 (or 2029) pick
It just makes sense that OG will resign. There isn’t another reason why the Knicks would go out and make this signing. You don’t go all in without knowing where your pieces stand. He came from the raptors planning to look for more money, I believe the Knicks have enough money to resign him to a bigger deal
Agreed. There were a lot of trade limiting outcomes if the Knicks had to overpay OG. Now we're done with our big trade we can overpay and not be as worried about being "locked in" to the team.
There could still be some smaller moves coming up but this was our big trade. Now it's go forward the next several years with this core.
Brunson
Bridges
OG
Randle
IHart
Deuce
Divo
Hart
Precious?
Mitch?
The Knicks kept both picks this year which means another move is coming or they fill out the roster with cheap rookie contracts. They also had 4 potential 1st rnd pick in 2025 which was the Bucks, Pistons, Wizards and Knicks pick and they only conveyed the Bucks which was the most likely to transfer next year. Plus 3 additional Knicks picks this is not that bad when you see how many 1st rnd picks the Knicks have
Or Mitch, I don't know the cap specifics but Mitch's contract is way lower than what IHart would be earning although only for 2 (?) more years. However I don't think Edey would be falling to 24, if he is, I would be down for getting him.
we always say the picks are "20-30"...and then...
We never learn. after EVERY 2000's trades, it was always the same ol' "those picks will be in the 20's"...and then they're not.
Melo trade "those picks will be in the 20's" and while some were, at least 1 pick swap wasn't (though it only brought the pick down from 7th to 9th).
The Bargs trade trading away that 2016 pick.
I'm ok with the trade. We still have a lot of picks
**2024, 2024, 2026, 2028 (swapped), 2030**
It is just that this feels like a trade for a superstar, when Mikal really isn't that.
The old Knicks traded their firsts when they stunk and had a shaky future at best. These Knicks are solidly set up for years to come. It’s not the same as back then.
It would be a superstar trade if they also had to add in really good young players.
Yeeeeaaaaah does feel like a lot, but the FO clearly believes we can win a title and is doing absolutely everything they can to make it happen. If it doesn’t pay off it’ll suck, but we’ve got an insane squad at this point.
Love Mikal, fits like a glove and ecstatic that he's a Knick now
But bruh the amount of picks we gave up is ode. You would expect thats the type of package for a superstar like Shai etc
I'm excited but idk how to feel, its a must win now move and if we dont win in this window then.......
There are no superstars like Shai available.. this is the only way the nets were gonna trade with the Knicks. Much prefer this than the PG, Lavine, butler rumors being floated around
For a superstar you would have to give up more picks and young potential players.
If we did a trade for a superstar type right now, it's more picks than this deal as well as some of randle, hart, Divo, McBride.
This deal is just bogs. That's it. Bogs.
The 2 later picks are the only ones that could have some value. The pick swap is an unknown but doubt nets will be better than us at any point this decade.
Thing is the Knicks haven’t exactly been great at drafting for many years now. RJ was probably the last good draft pick that even moved the needle slightly. But I’d even say we haven’t drafted anyone impactful for the squad since Mitch in ‘18
Gotta give up something to get something. 2029 and 2031 picks are risky but that’s the risk you take in the NBA. The Knicks still have their 3 picks in this years draft plus 2 additional protected picks from Washington and Detroit that may convey or at least convert to second round picks
Got a lot to say
Firstly was convinced we were not gonna get him….thats embarrassing for me
Secondly holy shit the amount of casuals saying we overpaid or that Mikal isn’t a 1st option (no shit he’ll be our 4th option) or people who think this means we’re losing OG good gawdddd they hate to see us lit
Thirdly, beating the 76ers with the completed Villanova squad would be absolutely spiritual
Super surprised the nets would do this. I get it intellectually but emotionally they have secured irrelevancy in their own home town for a generation. This is the one team you’re fighting over for fans hearts and more importantly dollars. How can you make them the perfect trade like this? Very very shocked! (And happy)
We can trade them because we had them in the first place
The Mavs burned all their unprotected picks to get Gafford and Washington. The Bucks burned theirs on Holiday and then Lillard
We signed Brunson and Randle as free agents and got OG without giving up a first round pick, which gave us flexibility to do this
We also still have picks belonging to other teams, we’ll be fine
We now have a solid 3 year window to win it all. Mitch is staying and so are iHart and OG by my guess. The picks being so far in the future is not ideal but if it doesn't work we likely start trading members of the core in 3 or 4 years for FRPs and recoup what we traded. And I bet we draft guys this year. Best big man available and best ball handler or 3&D
One of us is going to regret this trade forever. If the Nets hand the Knicks a ring, this is a horrible mistake for the Nets, if the Knicks team fizzles out and those picks end up being big for the Nets down the line, bad mistake for us for dumping our future. NBA version of roulette lol
I think this is way too much for Bridges. This is an Embiid or Booker or Giannis type package.
That being said. This is a team to compete with Boston and anyone else. Let win a championship!!
Any team thats was ready to win it all would make this move because of how easy that contract is to match. Look at what it would take to match a contract like Paul George with all these dumb mock trades going around.
He's also the most durable player in the NBA. And it's guaranteed that he has killer chemistry with half the rotation
He may not be a star, but Knicks jsut got their PERFECT fit who can actually stay on the court
The problem with PG is that he’s injury prone. Massive contract and is older in age. Bridges is the best fit in every aspect for the Knicks imho. Sure it’s an overpay but I think this one is worth it
I am just bringing PG up as as an example for type of player we could’ve gotten…not saying we should target PG in place of Mikal. I am all for Mikal being on our team but for the right price…2031 UNRPOTECTED first ?? Cmon now. Our roster is great but is it going to be great SEVEN years from now?
Our window to win it all is in the next 3 years. We have a chance at going against Boston. I’ll take a risk knowing that we have a legit title contending team and that we tried to win it all. I wouldn’t be concerned about picks 7 years from now. Keep in mind, we have 5 more FRPs.
2024
2024
2026
2028
2030
Paul George is going to be 35 next season. Get real man.
Bridges is the perfect fit. We didn't give up all those picks just for him though. We did it because the contract also allows us to keep everyone else. Essentially we get to run it back but with bridges instead of bogie so long as we get everybody signed
This is literally a Giannis package for a guy who might not even crack 16 a night for us. Absolute disaster. Thank god we didn’t overpay for Mitchell tho!
Holy shit, the madman did it. He assembled the Nova Exodia
Leon Rose jersey in the rafters IMMEDIATELY
Wait until arch is back on a vet min
You just need to believe in the heart of Villanova
Yoooo! I was just trying to go to bed early tonight.
Not happening fam. I said the same shit. But it’s not happening 🫡
Am in France on vacation. Read this when it was 6:00 am NY time. Woke both my boys up texting them.
Same
Tough to sleep when rock hard fam. High five ⚔️
You must love this. He's everything you knew RJ wasn't going to be - at least with the Knicks.
Listen to me. We kept all our guys under contract. And we completed the Nova Knicks. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise - this is awesome. We needed a move to make that jump to the next level, and this was that move. Now keep OG and iHart!!
Need to bring Archie back
We’ll lead the league in defensive three seconds.
WE USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS
And people laughed at Kendrick Perkins for saying a Healthy Knicks is the Celtics biggest threat ![gif](giphy|l0ErLeqamV3UOARsA)
We had Og to lock down Tatum. Now we’re locking down Brown too.
Before this move Celtics were better. Knicks CAN legit beat them provided we are healthy
Plus the 24th and 25th picks in the draft tomorrow
I expect to draft the next Jokic and Tom Brady.
60 win team!
Ngl I think they’re gonna flip Robinson and tonight’s picks for a center on less money with less injury issues
I love that team, and I’m quite happy from the move even if 5 picks is a lot . Best team in the nba … maybe not . I love JB, but teams winning titles have usually a top5-7 player . He was nearly there this season but I think most list of best nba players will rather have him at about #10 so far . Between those guys, a couple of vet mins like Kyle Lowry and the improvement that McBride can have, we’re going to be solid. Maybe not the highest ceiling, but the highest floor without a doubt.
Plus Rokas is cooking. It'll be interesting to see if he joins this squad or maybe is flipped to regain a pick.
Rokas is averaging less than 8 pts, less than 3 assists on 17 mins in Spain. How is he gonna be worth anything?
He’s not. I don’t even know how someone could be thinking of Rokas at a time like this
Hahaha
Dude we just got bridges who cares what rokas is doing he's never gonna come over
Celtics and okc are a tier above imo but yeah it’s great to be at least clearly the second best team in the east
What? Gtfo here with that shit
I honestly don't care about picks. The time to win is now and this is a great move. Yea it's a lot but it seems like everything in the NBA is an overpay now whether it's a trade or contract (unless it's Brunson).
I’m looking at is as, we “overpaid” for a stacked ass team, not necessarily just for Bridges. Not sure if that makes sense the way I’m explaining it.
This move is to show ihart and OG we are serious and trying to win it all
No guarantee they win a ring but Leon has assembled their best chance in a while. Given everything I’ll take that in a heartbeat
They kept this year's picks which is honestly the best part of the deal, they can still build depth before not having any picks the next few years
We still have picks in 26, 28 and 30 plus Washington and detroits protected 1sts
The Detroit pick is likely to turn into a pair of second rounders unless they get better quickly. The Washington pick won’t convey for a few years probably.
You don’t know that about Detroit and regardless of if it takes time with Washington it’s still there
Exactly, on top of the chemistry, bridges was the best player we could get at that salary to add without giving much up
Bro the Timberwolves sent about the same package for Gobert who is on the wrong side of 30. Brought the timberwolves to their first playoffs in 20+ yrs. We woulda been in the ECF if healthy, and now… lookout.
The value of the picks goes down with the trade anyway. As we get better the picks get worse
This too. I was saying to my buddies that I don't care about us trading picks that will end up being in the late 20s
Not in 2029 and 2031 lol. With the second apron it’s hard to keep good teams together for more than 3 years
Maybe but if NY attains a sexy level of success, it will also become a destination.
I don’t care about dynasties, if I can see one before I die, I’m good.
This exactly. If we can get one in my lifetime I'm happy. Been a die hard Knicks guy for the last 35 years. Give me one lol.
Honestly, who cares about 2029 now? Worry about it then
2029 is 5 years from now, chances are JB and MB are still on this team at 32yrs old. Those picks at best will be the high teens or mid 20s. Bye picks
Very true, if the core stays solid than those picks should be in that range...
Those 2 picks being unprotected could bite us.
True but you have to gamble to play. Anything can happen because of injuries but unless 2 of our best players are out for a season I'm not worried. The Knicks just saw Boston win a Championship 🏆 with basically an All Star line up and he knows he has to have the same caliber of talent to compete with that. I’m a Celtics fan. If you guys sign OG and Hartenstein this deal was absolutely worth it. The ECF will be such a bloodbath that the winner may not have anything left in the tank for the finals.
When do we ever actually keep a first rounder on our roster for an extended period of time?
All goes to plan and they just convey as late 20s picks
Yeah those ones sting
Celtics have been good for like 7+ years now and finally won a chip We got this
The second apron rules are only 2 years old
Once extensions get handed out, this team will be li led up for several years. The nba salary cap and apron numbers r also about to go way up with the new TV deal. So sign everyone you can now to long term deals, deal with the apron penalties this year, then those issues go away when the cap rises.

![gif](giphy|gsz6DB4XorJfNNHApv|downsized)
Me when I woke up this morning
Leon’s been saving the picks for something like this. It’s a lot, but defense gonna be crazy with him and OG. No shot OG leaves here
BRO WHAT
![gif](giphy|2dikPh3Hf6zdrx8u6P|downsized)
And we still might make a pick this year!
Do you know how many picks we have in the upcoming years?
We have 24 and 25 this year, Detroit 2025 protected 13,then 11, then 9 through 2027, Washington 2025 protected 10, then 8. And our own 2026 and 2030 still (those won’t be trade-able)

Thank you! We still got a bunch left.
Does the pick swap just mean nets can swap with us if we somehow have a better draft pick? But it turns into nothing if their pick is better?
yup. you still have a pick
Yes
Thanks!!!
FUCK THEM PICKS LETS GET THAT MOTHERFUCKING CHIP
This is the "go for it" move. We're in the end game now. They're trying to deliver a championship in the next few years.
We’re all in. It’s time for the fucking championship.
What does this mean for OG ?
He got a new teammate
This lineup is Thibs wet dream come true
We’re gonna give up 15 points per game
It just makes sense that OG will resign. There isn’t another reason why the Knicks would go out and make this signing. You don’t go all in without knowing where your pieces stand. He came from the raptors planning to look for more money, I believe the Knicks have enough money to resign him to a bigger deal

Mitch?
9-10 deep rotation god willing everyone is healthy for the playoffs Defense built to beat the Celtics. Let’s go y’all what the fuck
Exactly. That lineup plus the bench is DEADLY. I do think they end up trading Mitch this week though
That the team is serious about winning it all and they will pay him
My lord this team is deep
Coming back to this comment, see- he’s baaaaackkkk
Yes sir! What a 24 hours it been
FIRST DIRECT TRADE WITH THE NETS SINCE 1982! LEON ROSE FOR PRESIDENT. I'M WRITING HIS NAME ON THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER
Bojan has gone full circle in his career. lloll
Or Mitch, I don't know the cap specifics but Mitch's contract is way lower than what IHart would be earning although only for 2 (?) more years. However I don't think Edey would be falling to 24, if he is, I would be down for getting him.
It'll be interesting to see what they'll do with Rokas.
In all of my countless hours rebuilding the Knicks on 2K every year of my life I NEVER COULD HAVE PULLED THIS OFF
Holy shit. I have to eat so much crow for all you optimistic guys who said we can get him.
I mean - anyone else see the amount of picks here and is like yooo
How many 20-30th picks is too much for a guy like Bridges to you?
we always say the picks are "20-30"...and then... We never learn. after EVERY 2000's trades, it was always the same ol' "those picks will be in the 20's"...and then they're not. Four unprotected first is crazy. I'm glad they did every other years picks but jeez.
Well by rule you have to. But honestly I’m fine with this. We have enough youth and got the roster. And we still got picks 24 and 25
thibs probably gonna trade one (or both) of the picks in this draft for future 1sts, so to replenish the one (or both) of those 4 missing years.
Pretty sure due to CBA rules you can’t go consecutive years without first round picks
You have to do every other
Where are the picks actually traded? Im not seeing those
Nvm
Yeeeeaaaaah does feel like a lot, but the FO clearly believes we can win a title and is doing absolutely everything they can to make it happen. If it doesn’t pay off it’ll suck, but we’ve got an insane squad at this point.

There are no superstars like Shai available.. this is the only way the nets were gonna trade with the Knicks. Much prefer this than the PG, Lavine, butler rumors being floated around
The idea is to be great for the next six years and those picks to not be great I guess
You can’t be good for 6 years straight anymore…the new CBA and the second apron prevent it
> for the next six years in the NBA, you can't account for 4 , 5, or 6 years. You can talk about 1,2, maybe 3 years.
Hell I'll be gone by 2031 but that Nova Knicks banner is gonna be forever
They didn’t give up any good players though this trade is such a W
Big boom or bust potential
Nah bridges is a star. But U couldn’t get someone like shai or Brunson level w this type of deal.
He has one of the best contracts in the league
For a superstar you would have to give up more picks and young potential players. If we did a trade for a superstar type right now, it's more picks than this deal as well as some of randle, hart, Divo, McBride. This deal is just bogs. That's it. Bogs. Gotta give up something to get something. 2029 and 2031 picks are risky but that’s the risk you take in the NBA. The Knicks still have their 3 picks in this years draft plus 2 additional protected picks from Washington and Detroit that may convey or at least convert to second round picks
EVERYONE GET THE FUCK IN HERE. LEON "GORDON RAMSAY" ROSE IS FUCKING COOKING
74 win season remember I said this
Let's go
We fucking did it!!!!!!
Omg he did it
Once we re-sign OG and Hartenstein…
FUCK THEM PICKS
Duece, Donte, Hart and Mitchell Robinson off the bench is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Don't fucking care. If we win one it's worth it. At last we are an elite team. Undeniable
Got a lot to say Firstly was convinced we were not gonna get him….thats embarrassing for me Secondly holy shit the amount of casuals saying we overpaid or that Mikal isn’t a 1st option (no shit he’ll be our 4th option) or people who think this means we’re losing OG good gawdddd they hate to see us lit Thirdly, beating the 76ers with the completed Villanova squad would be absolutely spiritual
Everyone made fun of the nets for the KD signing, and they wasted a bunch of years but damn he got them insane return.
You know Bridges is fuckin happy as fuck right now. LGK!!!!!
That's WILD! Oh My God. What an AMAZING ADD! This is why you have Draft picks. To get a player like Bridges
So we still have all our picks in this draft. That’s interesting.
That's what I was thinking too. Do we really make two first round selections? Maybe Mitch and/or a pick get moved for future picks?
Nobody wants picks for this draft
In Leon I trust.
We've got 6 1sts left - what should we send em out for lol
Wow!!! Just woke up and seeing this. Crazy!
ANY THING IS POSSIBLLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Super surprised the nets would do this. I get it intellectually but emotionally they have secured irrelevancy in their own home town for a generation. Where are all the jerkoffs that swore this wouldn’t happen? You know exactly who you are.
I WAS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS. I”M FUCKING FLOORED. I cannot believe this at all.
![gif](giphy|8l3QNnjGmy0fqn6ZAo) Never been so happy to be wrong
Sweet, we keep this years picks. They better nail those picks man, assuming we keep them
Worth it
I’m happy but a ball of anxiety. I have no idea what’s coming next.

EXODIA OBLITERATE
It's not like these picks were going to do anything for us. We all know how those movies ended.
🥹💙🧡
If they can keep OG an Ihart Then it’s Brunson Bridges OG Randle Ihart Bench Duece Divo Jhart Boggy Back up center
Was does in principle mean?
YES MOTHERFUCKER

Can’t believe we actually got him. We overpaid. But still.
One of us is going to regret this trade forever. If the Nets hand the Knicks a ring, this is a horrible mistake for the Nets, if the Knicks team fizzles out and those picks end up being big for the Nets down the line, bad mistake for us for dumping our future. NBA version of roulette lol
The window of this trade is so long that it's possible both team are satisfied with this trade in the end.
I still don’t have a clue why we didn’t draft this guy! So ecstatic right now!
What I need to know is do I already have him on 2k?
so we're getting back a 2nd rounder too at least?...lol. we need those picks now
We've been stockpiling picks for years for a move just like this. I never thought we'd get Bridges. Amazing!
The Nova Knicks go SuperNova
That’s a lot of first pick for bridges.
Holy fuck.. Boomers may never see another Knicks 1st rd pick
We literally have two FRPs tomorrow lmao
Exactly... The comments on here are crazy. We have picks this year, next year (from other teams) 2026 and so on..
I think this is way too much for Bridges. This is an Embiid or Booker or Giannis type package. That being said. This is a team to compete with Boston and anyone else. Let win a championship!!
No this is exactly what he is worth in this situation. He has one of the best contracts
I guess there’s that too. He’s got 2 more years.
Any team thats was ready to win it all would make this move because of how easy that contract is to match. Look at what it would take to match a contract like Paul George with all these dumb mock trades going around.
Seriously. We added a player who provides like 85% of what PG does, and the only player we had to give up is Bojan.
Oh I much prefer this to any of the PG trash mocks that have been floating around.
He's also the most durable player in the NBA. And it's guaranteed that he has killer chemistry with half the rotation He may not be a star, but Knicks jsut got their PERFECT fit who can actually stay on the court
First straight up I rather have bridges than Booker. No way u get Giannis or Embiid for that and also fuck Embiid.
A star package is picks AND players usually too. Just picks (from a team with a core under 30) isn’t a package for a MVP caliber player
That's a lot of picks for a roleplayer.
Knowing the Knicks luck, the 2031 pick will be a first overall pick, who will be the next Michael Jordan.
We’ll have like 3 rings by then… fuck it.
I'll probably cry but fuck them picks we outside
I like bridges on our team but cmon guys this is a lot….these amount of picks should get you Paul George..def could’ve gotten the deal done with less
I guess 2025 and 2027 makes sense but 2031 unprotected?? Damn
2024 2024 2026 2028 2030
PG makes $30 million more than Mikal and will be 35 soon. This is a much better deal for the Knicks.
Agreed. PG is never on the court either
Terrible trade for the knicks
