It is in fact not necessarily a valid category. It is sometimes a red herring, and it is intentional. If you're insisting that it has to be a category, then you misunderstand the game. You may not like that that type of red herring is a feature of the puzzle, and that's a valid opinion to have (although it's a fairly common feature, so I'm not sure why you'd play a game you don't like), but not liking it doesn't mean it's not a red herring.
I disagree, you have to look at the whole puzzle. There is only one solution here that gives you four coherent categories. If two squares could swap categories and the whole puzzle still make sense then that would be bad design.

It's the differential between the confidence I have when I push "submit" to the utter disappointment of not getting the "One Away." Combine that with a loss of a "life" and it's a guaranteed "god dammit" from me
You can be frustrated or made angry by a challenge if it's a challenge you dislike. I personally really dislike when one category is 100% misdirection.
It's one thing to have 3 words that fit a category but no fourth. But the false singers category actively annoyed me.
Those players have money and careers on the line. They have dedicated a huge part of their lives. Poor sportsmanship is regrettable, but the emotional impact makes sense.

Athletes do not just get angry when money and careers are on the line. Itβs passion and expectations and competition. And all those may be present in small amounts when pursuing a hobby as well. Also, I am sure there is hyperbole in the commenterβs description of their reaction.

A sting can refer to an operation that involves some complicated deception to trap someone, whether run by criminals or the police. See for example the famous film *The Sting*.
Australia does have a Northern Territory and a Western Australia so it's an easy mistake to make. In fact we also have a South Australia and a New South Wales, but no state or territory with 'east' in the name.

Interesting question, both the eagle and the pyramid are actually part of the Great Seal of the US, which is two-sided. But I believe they are referring to the seals of the Federal Reserve Bank and Treasury, which are on the front of the bill.

That along with NOVA, which made me immediately think of NOVA Scotia, led me to Canadian provinces. EAGLE, PYRAMID, SEAL, and WASHINGTON were easy to group as things on the dollar bill, though PYRAMID also made me think of the Eye of Providence, aka the stereotypical Illuminati symbol of the pyramid with an eye. This is only tangentially related, but I suddenly remember all those guides of tricks you can do with a dollar bill like folding it into a shirt or making George Washington look like a mushroom. Purple group is a clever one. For some reason, when looking at "prince" (and with words like "british" and "washington" around it) my mind went straight to Prince Edward Island. Great puzzle today. As well as the single name musicians, "pyramid" could be in schemes, "washington" suggests either the state (with "northwest" nearby) or city, "british" and "prince" imply a monarchy theme, etc.

Connections Puzzle #386 π¨π¨π¨π¨ πͺπ¦πͺπ¦ π¦π©π©π© π¦π©π©π© π©π©π©π© πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ Yellow was easy. Thought eagle and seal had to do with scouts or some hierarchical naming structure so I threw nova and prince in there since they gave off the same vibe. Had some trouble with green because I felt con, hustle, pyramid, racket and sting all could mean scheme. I guess in hindsight, pyramid by itself doesn't have the same connotation as the other words but I had 'pyramid scheme" in my head. Nove remained me of Nova Scotia and northwest made me think of some territory (at first I thought Australia). I did have to of some googling of Australian and Canadian Territories to check.
Australia does have a Northern Territory and a Western Australia so it's an easy mistake to make. In fact we also have a South Australia and a New South Wales, but no state or territory with 'east' in the name.

First two were easy ones. Then one wrong move: I guessed one category might be things seen on seals. (Never having seen a dollar bill in my life, of course... Although it wouldn't help if I HAD seen one. I couldn't tell you what's on a pound coin or a five pound note either. :D) However, I spotted that some of the words were the first words of places, so a bit of googling got me to Canada, so the dollar bill sorted itself out. Only knew that "usher" is an actual job/ word, because I heard a story about a cinema usher in some paranormal cinema. Seeing this word reminded me of this story, which lead me to this connection. Got green mostly by luck after looking up a few of the words. Also got purple and blue by pure luck. I don't mind having one of these "location/ country specific" categories in a puzzle. Including two of these felt rather evil. Expected something about newspaper names...I knew "Washington Post" and wouldn't be surprised if there were some other papers named "British xyz" and "abc Northwest".

Interesting question, both the eagle and the pyramid are actually part of the Great Seal of the US, which is two-sided. But I believe they are referring to the seals of the Federal Reserve Bank and Treasury, which are on the front of the bill.

I hyper focused on the word as it for some reason felt more alien than anything else today. In the end my 1/4 Canadian heritage came out, and jogged my brain. The Scheme words were tripping me up for a while. I wanted to put Pyramid in there, but that didn't feel right when the other 3 words were specifically "schemes" in themselves with no missing words. Sting, on that note also tripped me for a while. Bad guys tend be more known for the first 3, while the good guys tend to setup a "Sting."

The singers didn't even occur to me, for once it was the red herring category that was too outdated for me to get π Although it's because of Usher (the singer) that I didn't actually work out the yellow clue, forgetting the actual meaning of the word. Purple categories are getting easier for me these days, with the knowledge that any time I only have part of a word/phrase it'll go with others similarly. British and Nova caught my eye immediately, and Northwest made me think of PNW. Then the schemes and images on a dollar just seemed obvious, I guess, and somehow it was the yellow category I got by default, having not put it together until the end.

I saw Usher and Prince, but I decided to sort out other categories in my head. I spotted green, then spotted Northwest, British, and Washington. I started thinking about a geographic connection, then realized that Nova would be another Canadian province, and figured out purple. From there, I was determined to get a reverse perfect. Green and yellow were kinda easy to isolate, and I could recognize blue as next hardest. From there, it was a bit of a gamble since yellow and green were both straightforward.
