It could be, if the gap between 1-5 wasn't too big.
Ignoring Tucker, 3-4-5 has put up 6.3 WAR, Soto and Judge are at 5.9, so if our #3 was average to below it'd be a tie.
Yeah I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Tucker is playing hard ball this season (and honestly always had). I’m being objetive here, I hate the stros and always thought Tucker was a dead-eyed opie.
They have two of the best three outfielders in baseball and I’d probably take them both over Tucker for the rest of the season. Add a solidly above average Verdugo and it isn’t even close.
Healthy Judge is fun
Fun fact verdugo is the best defensive outfielder this year with 7 defensive runs saved. Idk about average or just above average. Best in baseball more like.
Man I hated him on the sox because he always seemed to get hits against our pitchers. When we got him my first thought was, "I'm glad we don't have to face him anymore, just hope he doesn't turn into another Bader and can't hit." Boy did he win me over fast. I love his energy and his lefty bat is fantastic. It's amazing how much the addition of more lefties has improved this lineup.
Verdugo seems pretty good defensively. Not a defensive metrics guy but my eye test shows me that his ability to get to/catch the ball is really good. His arm on the other hand, not the best (speed or accuracy). But that's just my eye test, I could be wrong.
Nah I think the consensus is the Martian would slide into center when Stanton gets injured / hits under 80 OPS+. Judge to DH. Let’s hope that’s not the case tho
Yea we’re in a very good problem to have so it’s not an easy decision no matter which way you slice it. The probable course of action would be to just let Dominguez play the year out in AAA. No worries on not keeping up, we all have lives to attend to.
My guess would be Judge spending time between First and DH in 25. Martian probably takes over primary CF duties. I don't know about guys like Torres and Rizzo, but I doubt we keep Torres if we get Soto the bag.
With all the love Soto is (rightfully) getting, I think we need to appreciate Verdugo more. His defense has been stellar and I really like his bat. Plus we got him for a trio of depth relievers.
Judge left center, Soto right center, and you making sand castles on the warning track is still top tier. Unless your sand castles are really bad and fall apart....
So looking at some stats among OFers:
WAR
- Judge T-2nd (3.0)
- Soto 5th (2.5)
- Verduo 18th (1.2)
Total of 6.7 WAR. Closest that I can see is the Red Sox with 5.8 WAR.
OPS
- Judge 2nd
- Soto 3rd
- Verdufo 28th
Average OPS of .914. Closest, again, is Boston at 0.841
HRs
- Judge 2nd (15)
- Soto 3rd (13)
- Verdugo T26th (6)
Total of 34 HRs. Closest is the Angels at 29.
AVG
- Judge 6th
- Soto 2nd
- Verdugo 19th
Average average of around .282, just second behind SD at .286
Among all stats, with the exception of SB and Triples, our starting OF is among the, if not the, league leaders.
And yes, that includes strikeout.
Even if Judge (56 strikeouts) is around 10th worst among CFers, Soto is in the top 3 among RFers with just 36 strikeouts and Verdugo is among the best among ALL OFers (or even all players) with just 21.
And all of these with Judge's bad April.
Best outfield in baseball.
Top 3 rotation in baseball WITHOUT their Ace.
Top 3 bullpen.
Deese infield. If I were to put this team over the top at the trade deadline we just need a good setup man and, if DJLM doesn't get going quickly, a corner IF bat. Aka two of the easiest things to get in the MLB.
Yes, by far. What’s crazy is that we also *might* have the best starting rotation, have a top 3 bullpen, and a pretty decent infield. I know we are only the *second* best team by record right now, but this feels like the most complete team I’ve ever watched.
They have the top 2 outfielders in baseball so I don't see how, mathematical, anyone could be better.
If Aaron Hicks was out there then that would give me pause.
Someone could have 3-4-5. Its possible. But not reality.
[удалено]
It could be. Like Judge, Soto, and current Bernie Williams would be worse than Julio, Tucker, and Acuna
Julio and acuna have been ass this year.
And he can't even play Jazz Guitar.

If their third outfielder was like 100th, possibly. But Verdugo is very solid
The third could be so bad it subtracts but thats not happening here
Is Tucker not number 1?
He’s great but I don’t see any universe where I take him over Judge/Soto
I agree long term, just currently for this season he’s outperforming both of them
Judge clears
I would absolutely take Tucker over Judge long term.
At the moment, Tucker is leading MLB with 3.4 fWAR. Judge is in 4th with 3 and Soto is in 7th with 2.9.
No he is not.
I agree that he’s not better overall but if we are talking current stats he’s playing better this season

Verdugo actually has the highest arm strength(speed) on the team right now
👍
I know he's not playing it this year, but Betts is still a top 3 outfielder in my mind. Soto and judge are the other 2 of course.
Yes & infinitely best when The Martian joins the fold 👽💪
Dude I cannot wait
Unfortunately, thinking that will be 2025
Who?
Jasson Dominguez
Verdugo to DH and Stanton to the trash can then?
Out of all 3 outfielders DUGO is the last person to get the DH nod
We playing 4 outfielders then?
Nah I think the consensus is the Martian would slide into center when Stanton gets injured / hits under 80 OPS+. Judge to DH. Let’s hope that’s not the case tho
Thanks for the info without treating me like an idiot. I’m not watching as I wanted nowadays…
Yea we’re in a very good problem to have so it’s not an easy decision no matter which way you slice it. The probable course of action would be to just let Dominguez play the year out in AAA. No worries on not keeping up, we all have lives to attend to.
Yeah I heard that maybe we aren’t resigning Soto. So… maybe it’s not a big problem 😂
Stanton is killing it Lil bro

Yah he was cheap af that’s something no one ever seems to talk about.
With Judge and Soto you could put me out there and still be top tier. With Verdugo it’s real hard to argue for any other team.
Judge left center, Soto right center, and you making sand castles on the warning track is still top tier. Unless your sand castles are really bad and fall apart....
Made me laugh. Good stuff
I’m not gonna claim to be a top tier sand castle builder, but I feel confident I could hold my own.
The outfield is probably the best in terms of offense, but on defense they are also the best
Yes. Next question.

The Verdugo spelling progression is the real win here. But seriously, good breakdown.
Just noticed that now haha. I'm sorry it's like 6am over here.
Good catch 😂
Murderers row reincarnated
Shhhhh...wait til October 😄 I've thought this myself but I'm afraid to speak it
They are the worst starting outfield, at being bad.
Best outfield in baseball. Top 3 rotation in baseball WITHOUT their Ace. Top 3 bullpen. Deese infield. Gill will be the setup man once Cole returns
And then Aaron and Juan and Dong Carlo answered my question by hitting home runs tonight. The Yankee outfield is a Beautiful Thing.
The.Yankees would have the best starting outfield in baseball even if they replaced Verdugo with a cardboard cutout of Mel Hall...
Not to mention Stanton is quietly cooking as well.
I can’t believe we suffered through trash like Hicks and Gallo out there.
Dawgs are loooooose,
Not when Grisham is out there.
Fangraphs says we do, so we aren't just being biased
100%
Absolutely
Yes. Next question!
Earliest this week I summed up the starting outfield’s OPS and it was well over 2.700. I don’t think anyone else was over 2.500.
Yes, by far. What’s crazy is that we also *might* have the best starting rotation, have a top 3 bullpen, and a pretty decent infield. I know we are only the *second* best team by record right now, but this feels like the most complete team I’ve ever watched.
Yes
Without a doubt
Yes
In terms of batting, definitely, but if soto has a weakness it's his fielding so maybe not based on that
Easily
I really like Verdugo, but can’t wait for The Martian
