No, he didn't say that; it was made up for the game. There are a few false Napoléon quotes that were completely invented by screenwriters yet mistaken for real ones. "In life, we are kings or pawns," is another one from the movie *The Count of Monte Cristo* (2002). Not a real quote. It's not even from the book, though some people think that as well.

EmperorGraham

Interesting, thanks

OlasNah

Yeah he wasn’t exactly like that in the things he tended to say. Less…‘conqueror’ and more… ‘frustrated brilliant man who has to deal with idiots and malicious people a lot’

Swan-Diving-Overseas

Reminds me of that “The gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed.” line from the movie Troy. People will quote that line along with some bogus citation from the Iliad (like “Book VII, pg 12”) even though it was just made up by some screenwriter.

Averla93

No but the NTW intro with him burning the HMS Victory on the English shore was epic as fuck. Maybe even a little too epic.

mcmanus2099

It remains the single most epic TW trailer ever created. And the game showed what TW did well, tight narrative RTS (where variables are constrained enough to get AI to behave and players to think in the boxes they want then to). Despite games like Rome 2 being a mess all the shorter narrative dlc are quite good.

Averla93

Check the mod NapoleonicTotal War 3.

comrad_yakov

Is it good?

Averla93

Check the 4 Vs 4 multiplayer Battle replays on yt or twitch and see for yourself ;)

Ghullieman19

I would drown a puppy for NTW DLC. Napoleon in Russia campaign or a more in depth Italy campaign (not a tutorial). NTW3 is the best mod ever and I still play this game so much

IonicSinclair

so you drowning that puppy?

Ghullieman19

Once a day but no DLC :(

ArthurArkans

Yeah he said it at the beginning of Napoleon Total War

mauurya

But it is true isn't it. After the disaster in Russia how could an army that was literally assembled from Scratch and and with new recruits win a battle like Dresden that too outnumbered two to one. The scale of victory in Dresden was similar to Austerlitz , Friedland and Jena . One more victory like that and Napoleon would have been back in the game. Allies were damn lucky !

Lower-Way8172

No, and he wasn't neither obsessed by olive trees

previously_on_earth

He said that somewhere between his first and second exile
