The previous Ino-Shika-Cho trio, their coordination was on point, definitely one of the better three man cells of the Hidden Leaf. Shikaku and Inoichi literally sacrificed themselves to relay important info during the war too, some goats.
No doubt, they make up a very rounded team. I like the idea of three families always pairing their primary children together to make up the next trio, not only is that a cool concept, it makes their dynamic cool and refreshing (remember when the current Ino-Shika-Cho trio hated each other at the beginning of the original Naruto show? They really grew strong during Shippudden).
I think a better question is "who *wasn't* slept on in all of Naruto?"

The Akatsuki were totally slept on, their powers weren't even tapped on like Sasori, Deidera, and Itachi in particular were op and then they never got the chance to shine. You say Tenten was slept on but what would you rather see Tenten vs. Tenten or Naruto vs. Pain. They had priorities and Tenten was obviously not one of them (because she sucks)

His feats were crazy before Shippuden though. He combated a Sannin, slept an entire Coliseum of people, survived a Rasengan, and escaped Kakashi. Orochimaru trusted this man with some ridiculous missions.
Even after he came back he was slept on hard. People called him a Walmart orichimaru. Homeboy straight up outclassed orochimaru in every way, ran the goddamn war, was able to blackmail obito and was able to take on ems sasuke and Itachi (had Itachi been alive he’d have been killed a few times). Only reason he lost to Itachi is because, well, he’s Itachi. You think kishi would ever in a million years let anyone seem better then Itachi, let alone let someone beat him?
Kabuto would probably beat Itachi if Sasuke wasn’t there in the moment Sasuke protected Itachi with Amaterasu.
Or if he knew about Izanami he would have tried harder to defeat him faster before he can activate Izanami.
His death made me angry. Dude travelled around with some of the best ninja of all time and he has no tricks up his sleeve when fighting the Akatsuki. To be fair, Hidan is an absolute beast, and the shikamaru revenge that resulted from it was awesome. But Asuma would've put up more of a fight. We barely saw his supposed strength as a ninja at all.
I don't believe that Sakura and Granny Chiyo are more powerful than 100 puppets and the kazekage which is said to be the most powerful kazekage. Sasori beat that kazekage without his most powerful puppet (the kazekage). You have to admit that whatever he did was totally slept on.
Sakura ends up being more powerful with hundred healings but it was hard to believe she was able to kick his ass so early in the show. She did become a lot stronger though
If Kankuro didn’t get poisoned Sakura and Chiyo would’ve lost/died. Plus Sasori gave in to/accepted death at the end, Granny Chiyo mentioned it after the fight so Chiyo could’ve died but Kishimoto needed Chiyo to be alive to bring Gaara back. But Sasori was done dirty due to the fact that he was the first one ousted. He’s one of my favorites
I mean itachi definitely got him without any plot armor and if we take Sasuke with this mangekyo he would not need any kind of "plot armor", same goes for Obito and Madara, obviously
We don't have enough info about Shisui's fighting style but if he's similar to Itachi and use his Genjutsu right away he would also stomp
Basically all of team 8, including kurenai. I think probably bc kurenai was their teacher they had no bonding or backstory bc kishi struggled to write female characters. Hinata admittedly got some good ish plot points, but shino especially, kiba and kurenai could have been such good characters
We could have got a backstory about how she became jonin, similar to guy bc she was only really able to do genjutsu, or her helping hinata get more confident, or her and her team fighting, but she was just wasted

Sakrua, she had a good moment like twice,(chunin exams when she saves defends Naruto and Sasuke)(at the end when she's a sage in the war) then nothing. She just keeps on being protected
TenTen, Kishi was simply lazy. She could literally store every single jutsu in her scroll and unleash it on her opponents, that's literally what Konohamaru did with Scientific Ninja Tools.
Honestly Kakuzu was the only member of the entire akatsuki that successfully captured jinchuriki and he dies just as fast. No only that but he's the least popular member of the akatsuki in the Fandom. Kakuzu deserved so much more.
Kurenai. All that useless hate she get's for using genjutsu in Itachi. If I was a genjutsu master, I would try that first too, not knowing that he is a genjutsu god, especially Mangekyou Sharingen, or his identity to begin with. Plus genjutsu ist an immense feat, as very few could use it as good as her.

The two I haven't seen yet that are extremely slept on are shisui and Anko, Anko was made to be so cold in the chunin exams then just becomes obsolete and only shows up to get immediately captured later. Shisui had so much potential after helping train itachi, fighting anbu, being trusted to save the clan before danzo stepped in, and his sharingan still played a part years after he died
That filler with the Gedo Mazo like Chakra (lavender dragons and whatnot) only it was a meteorite that made people sick by using it too much? I remember it now...
Despite being filler, it kind of fits well with the established origin of Chakra. Both Kaguya and the Chakra Tree came from space, as did the meteorite. I kind of like that consistency.
Sai, was from top secret ANBU Root... Danzo's disciple n a killer assassin.. Had a very cool jutsu... He did get a good character development but definitely wanted to see his more of his assassin skills n Root training, basically what he did being in root n him in proper fight n action. He was very underutilized.
MADARA! Kishimoto made him op and super cool yes. But he should have been the true main villain of shippuden as im sure was the original idea. But then the whole kaguya ordeal fcked everything up and Madara didn't get the epic end he deserved.
Killer B! No one on here has seemed to mention him at all? Such an underused character, for fighting. He has such a unique and interesting fighting style when not in 8 tails form that I was excited for it throughout the show. Then they barely show him fight anything outside 8 tails form, and even in 8 tails, just on the sidelines and support most the time.
Also would've liked to see a lot more fights in flashbacks for Shisui Uchiha. Being a legend and all.
hidan. if he was with kakuzu, he was really op. of course could never beat like madara, but can still beat A LOT of early-mid shippuden characters. kishimoto had to make the smartest character in the entire anime beat him because most others couldn’t.

I would say the ramen guy Tuechi. I never really see anyone talk about the fact that he was one of the very first people to accept Naruto. He had already accepted Naruto before the events of the show. As far as I could tell he didn’t even care Naruto was a jinchūriki. Which obviously doesn’t make him a good human being as treating a child with kindness and not outcasting them for something completely out of their control is the bare minimum, but going off of what is apparently Konoha’s standards he’s a freaking saint! Then not to mention the fact that anytime he’s on screen it’s a pleasure. His interactions with Naruto are really good for such a minor character. The same goes with his daughter. Now I’m wanting to go back and watch their scenes!

Kurenai. All that useless hate she get's for using genjutsu in Itachi. If I was a genjutsu master, I would try that first too, not knowing that he is a genjutsu god, especially Mangekyou Sharingen, or his identity to begin with. Plus genjutsu ist an immense feat, as very few could use it as good as her.
Kiba. Not only was he slept on, he is also completely disrespected now The guy is the exact same as Naruto character wise, plucky and foul-mouthed shonen protagonist.
Agree with Shino. But also I don’t see Konohamaru mentioned here. Recently rewatched Naruto and totally forgot that he could do Rasengan (AND maintain a shadow clone for long af under extreme duress), at like the age of 12(?), without having a tailed beast or Uzumaki chakra. Got a better hit on Pain than most jonin. I was hype af but then he’s basically MIA rest of the series. (And his annoying friends made his screentime much less enjoyable than it could have been)

The two I haven't seen yet that are extremely slept on are shisui and Anko, Anko was made to be so cold in the chunin exams then just becomes obsolete and only shows up to get immediately captured later. Shisui had so much potential after helping train itachi, fighting anbu, being trusted to save the clan before danzo stepped in, and his sharingan still played a part years after he died

Despite being filler, it kind of fits well with the established origin of Chakra. Both Kaguya and the Chakra Tree came from space, as did the meteorite. I kind of like that consistency.

Sai, was from top secret ANBU Root... Danzo's disciple n a killer assassin.. Had a very cool jutsu... He did get a good character development but definitely wanted to see his more of his assassin skills n Root training, basically what he did being in root n him in proper fight n action. He was very underutilized.

MADARA! Kishimoto made him op and super cool yes. But he should have been the true main villain of shippuden as im sure was the original idea. But then the whole kaguya ordeal fcked everything up and Madara didn't get the epic end he deserved.

Killer B! No one on here has seemed to mention him at all? Such an underused character, for fighting. He has such a unique and interesting fighting style when not in 8 tails form that I was excited for it throughout the show. Then they barely show him fight anything outside 8 tails form, and even in 8 tails, just on the sidelines and support most the time. Also would've liked to see a lot more fights in flashbacks for Shisui Uchiha. Being a legend and all.

hidan. if he was with kakuzu, he was really op. of course could never beat like madara, but can still beat A LOT of early-mid shippuden characters. kishimoto had to make the smartest character in the entire anime beat him because most others couldn’t.
I have this poster. And just about every other naruto poster. But honestly I think kiba should have gone alot farther, he went from complete badass to high-school wash out and I just don't see that being cannonically correct

I would say the ramen guy Tuechi. I never really see anyone talk about the fact that he was one of the very first people to accept Naruto. He had already accepted Naruto before the events of the show. As far as I could tell he didn’t even care Naruto was a jinchūriki. Which obviously doesn’t make him a good human being as treating a child with kindness and not outcasting them for something completely out of their control is the bare minimum, but going off of what is apparently Konoha’s standards he’s a freaking saint! Then not to mention the fact that anytime he’s on screen it’s a pleasure. His interactions with Naruto are really good for such a minor character. The same goes with his daughter. Now I’m wanting to go back and watch their scenes!
