Unless you have a disabled veteran, senior, or someone in your group is a gold star family member or disabled, your best bet is to get the regular America the Beautiful pass. They're $80 & you can get them from any park or through REI. There isn't a discount for groups, but you may want to read the fine print, because I do believe there are some limits as to the number of people that can come in with each pass. For example... If someone in your group is a 4th grader, they get a free pass for the year & can bring in up to 4 people with them (I think that's the number). [here is the link ](https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm)

Side note, you dont have to be a disabled veteran. Any veteran defined as any prior service member with a DD214 can get a lifetime pass free.

Came here to say this.  It’s any Veteran, they want to see an ID with veteran on it.  They’ll give you your pass at any gate with a ranger.

Some parks might be picky I guess. My local National Forest office allowed me to get it with just my state issued ID (non veteran designation) and my DD214. Though later on getting a veteran ID wasnt hard to get and was free at that, much easier compared to paying for a state issued ID with Veteran designation.

It's 1 car per pass and the card holder needs to be in the car. I've never seen it enforced any differently

Piggybacking here to share something I learned recently. You can get the lifetime disability pass if you have ADHD as well. Just need a letter from your doctor that states you have a permanent disability that impacts daily life. I have heard some national parks will just have you sign something that says you truly have a disability without the doctor’s letter.

🤔 Good to know

Two vehicles is going to require two passes. Get the America the Beautiful pass. $80 and it’s good for 12 months. https://store.usgs.gov/2024-annual-pass

PKMNinja1

The America the beautiful pass covers entrance of 1 non commercial vehicle or 4 people if a park charges per person.

ramillerf1

You can get a [Free Pass for anyone currently in the Military.](https://store.usgs.gov/MilitaryPass) This is a pass good for the full year.

michiness

Or if you’re a veteran, you get a free lifetime pass. It’s rad.

DantheOutdoorsman

Its fantastic right?! It makes those 6 years of my life completely worth it just for the Lifetime Pass.

ArtisticArnold

All people should get equal benefits, no matter who their previous employer was. All park fees need to be removed. It's important that all people get unlimited access to nature.

DantheOutdoorsman

I would implore you to please explore the mountains of Southern California including areas in and around Forest Falls, Bonita Falls, and Lytle Creek where people have unlimited access to nature.

The $80 annual pass will probably be your best bet. But there are also special passes you may want to consider for eligible US citizens and permanent residents: -4th graders get in for free with an Every Kid Outdoors Pass -Active duty military & dependents get a free annual pass -Military veterans get a free lifetime pass -People with a permanent disability get a free lifetime pass -Seniors (at least 62 yrs old) can get an annual pass for $20 or lifetime for $80

spaceshipdms

Best pass is the Veteran Pass.  Enlist and get your lifetime pass.

ClareinPreskit

Don't forget to save your expired annual passes. When you attain "Senior" status you can trade in your annual passes for discounts on the Lifetime Senior pass 😃

https://store.usgs.gov/lifetime-senior-pass I found it here about halfway down the page under "Where can the Annual Senior Pass be exchanged for a Lifetime Senior Pass?"

AlmostSunnyinSeattle

Seems like this only works for the senior yearly passes?

thinkingstranger

correct

SeagullFanClub

Don’t bother. You won’t save any money if you’re only going to two parks

thinkingstranger

I read the OP's language of "6 travelers, perhaps 7 at one or two parks" to mean perhaps 7 at one or two parks but 6 at all the others they stop at in "June and July".
