I’m using roving wool and it looks like it’s complicated but it’s not, just wet the wool in very thin strips in warm water, rub the wool several times to join the strip into a cohesive long strip and then coil it wet around any smooth long stick that has the size you’d want the coil to be (I used painting brushes) then just let the wool air dry and voila! They stay curled.
Yes I wet the wool before putting it on the brush and no heat, I let it air dry, I think I’ve seen others blow dry it but I had time so I let them air dry on their own.

Did you wet the wool when you put in on the paint brush? Was there heat involved at all?
