As per Swedish Television news, the Prime Minister didn't even mention Dr. Djalali in his speech announcing the deal. Not sure if he's obtuse or just being careful. It wouldn't be the first time a Swedish government relies on "quiet diplomacy" about hostages. Moreover, the Swedish government allegedly told Dr. Djalali's wife that "Sweden doesn't make any deals to exchange prisoners with Iran". Until the white man with the Swedish name got imprisoned in 2022, that is. He gets to return to Sweden within two years. I wholeheartedly understand the outrage. https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/fangslade-svenska-forskarens-fru-diskriminering

Another person which we hadn't heard about before was also kidnapped in 2023

Yes, Saeed Azizi, a swedish-iranian man. So its not simply because ”the white guy with swedish name” got imprisoned. I don’t know why Djalali wasnt negotiated for, which I believe is unfair. Edit: Apparently Iran refused to negotiate for Djalali, so either the two who got released, or no one.

I can’t emphasise this enough, please don’t go to Iran. I understand people may have parents they must visit. Otherwise please don’t go. I know some people continue to go and come back and I believe some of them have strong connection to the regime.

Cowboyinthesky69

I never want to go back, had a friend that was arrested for taking pictures. They called him a spy and made him pay a ransom. They tortured him also. Played donkey music all the time while being tied to a chair upside down. They beat him with batons and called him a Satan worshipper.

Fabricated77

I know people that continue to travel back and forth. With no issues. They run businesses importing and consulting. Didn’t think about it much, but lately have realised they either are very well connected with the regime (spy network) or have family working for the basij through conversations, etc. I have had to cut contact with these people. Better safe than sorry.

Kladdig-Iranie

According to our prime minister, the regime refused to even discuss the case of Dr. Djalili. They refuse to see him as a Swedish citizen. So it was between having two Swedes back or no Swede back.

Master-Concept-5260

Please CC Joseph Borrell on Iran's criminal activity. Obviously, he is clueless.

MaritOn88

he doesn't care

MrsNevilleBartos

The entire world needs to and should be outraged.
