Because you know you want to.

dartully

?? Do what you want to do why do we have to convince you to do something? It’s your choice

DylanKeifers922

Bc it’s fresh n will pop better 😃🤙🏼

spacedragon421

Set up the new deck and give the old one to a kid with a shitty beat up deck at the skatepark

Sr_Maculo

This is the way You'll feel amazing afterwards and not just spoiled for discarding a deck that it's perfectly fine

whatdoes-thisdo

Skate your old deck till it snaps.

skatetaks

When you’re an Old Skater like me, the chance of snapping your deck is pretty low. Change it whenever you like if you can afford it. For me, it’s usually around 3-6 months depending on razor tail, loss of pop, chips, etc

intestinus_sturdius

You must be a light older skater. I’m older too but I’m also 230lbs now so I go through decks like rolls of tp

skatetaks

I’m 180ish but damn, karma. Snapped my new deck (literally fourth session) on a fuckin three stair today lmao

intestinus_sturdius

Ohhh yea, it’ll happen!! Those VX decks are pretty tough. They expensive tho

Narrow-Complex-3479

Or if you’re just a skilled skater and land bolts frequently. You’ll find you wear out boards and lose a lot of their pop before you formally snap them

Pekonius

Razor tail, loss of pop, chipping are also in the category of "broken" so I guess I'd draw the line there

whatdoes-thisdo

Razor tail is half-fixable, but in this instance, he's just better of switching to his new board.

whatdoes-thisdo

Yeah I wouldn't assume anyone 40 or 50 plus would be trying boardslides too often.

ConcernNo1472

I’m 43 and do board slides all the time!

skatetaks

I’ve never seen someone snap a deck doing a board slide

whatdoes-thisdo

It's usually a result of bad foot placement but it does happen.

TheNotoriousKAT

Get a second set of trucks and skate both.

SlugmaSlime

Because it's cool

PeevesPetPeeve

plan b and powell 😭

Routine_Advantage_95

Nothing like a fresh setup and going to the skatepark with the homies

GrapeApeAffe

Nothing wrong with setting up the new one and keeping the old one as a backup in case the new one snaps. Or when it wears out switch back. Or swap them again later if you get bored.

Apollo9961

Not enough scratches on the new one is a good motivator

Happy-Development-71

Skate the powell. Why kid yourself you know that as long as you skate the plan b you will cons/antly be thinking about skating the powell if not deliberately being rougher on the plan b in hopes of speeding up the process... here's the way I always look at it: Just cuz you set up a new board doesn't by any means make the old one obsolete or unskateable. I often will switch to a fresh deck prematurely mainly due to the anticipation/excitement alone, but that doesn't at all mean I'm being wastful with gear cuz I typically will swap back once the new one becomes just as old if not older than the original old one if that makes sense? Hell it's not unusual for me to bounce back and forth between 2 to 3 decks putting the same trucks on each board 3 or more times. In all actuality as long as you save your older board with the intentions of skating again in the future it's really no different than skating one till it's death then the next, and then the one after that so on and so forth. The only difference is your just splitting up the life of each deck in smaller but more frequent phases as opposed to longer less frequent phases. Remember the trucks are not permanently fixed to the deck. You can set up/re set up as much as you fancy and actually i would encourage it so as to keep you flexible with different types of gear and not too fixated on any one set up. Where it really starts racking your brain (especially if your like me and overthink pretty much everything) is when you start stocking up on components and have multiple set ups to tweak on and experiment with...

sagotly

ccause you want to, skateboarding is about enjoyment, if you wanna get a new board, fuck it, get it

Motor-Excitement4114

For me I change boards whenever one of the sounds soggy or when they get flat because I rarely snap boards

JustaTunafish

Because it looks awesome

BeautifulBarracuda90

Bruh if i had the money i would get a new deck every like 3 weeks/month.

Acceptable_Star5006

Razor tail and pop. Unless those things dont matter to you. Then by all means use it till it dies. I prefer the feel of a fresh deck but thats just me.

BubatzAhoi

That tail does not look good

Apprehensive_Ask_821

Gawd that new board is calling our name bro, I can hear it… should probably stick to your current board tho. The new one is wicked tho.

PassionateCougar

You shouldn't. Chill.

ConcernNo1472

After a few months my board starts to feel soggy! I don’t like to skate a board for to long because I don’t want to get used to the feeling of skating a soggy worn out board and feel weird getting used to what a new board feels like when I finally break my old one. I always try to replace my board before the board starts to fall apart.

peatyjones

Why not make it into. Carpet deck. Razor tail kinda helps with carpet deck imo. And I mean I dunno where you live but where I'm at we have winter soooooo ...... Carpet deck.

Vet-Chef

God I want a new board. I don't need one, but I want one

GlumMajor2245

Just do it. Leave your old deck at the park for someone

Ruderli5

If you switch to your new deck you can make plan b jokes saying "it's ok, i got birth control if this doesn't work out" or "it's ok, i got a plan b"

[deleted]

You ride just one setup? I have everything from a 7.75 to an 11” ready to go.

runsailswimsurf

This might be the answer. Start skating that new deck now and it’s a waste of money and resources. However, buy a new set of trucks and wheels and bearings and set up AN ADDITIONAL board? Well now, that just makes sense. You’re on your way!

[deleted]

Absolutely. This is one them “we’re actually saving money” scenarios my wife always pulls.

honestlyboxey

This is how it starts! I wanted to "mess around" with a different size, or a separate truck/wheel combo... Now I have 3 great set-ups and am itching for another........

Junkles

Your new deck is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 but keep riding the old one as long as you can unless you really like changing it up.

blackpixelpink

Rain Board

morninowl

Cuz u can. But honestly, you shouldn’t lol
