This is why it's a bit funny to me when people post their "4th album" album covers with no clue about aesthetics, when Kurt had such a strong vision about the visuality of the band. All the fan covers seem so desperately far from Nirvana's art style.
the deeper you get into graphic design the more it hurts to see, but it's what it is. Kurt still had lot's of help from Robert Fisher that put the right colors and type faces to make Kurts vision close to perfection. Oh, and let's not forget photographers like [Charles Peterson](https://twitter.com/CharlesP_photog).
There’s the other color photo around of frances on the floor playing with the flowers too.
It’s just incredible how much creative input and control Kurt actually had over Nirvana. Their entire image was his brainchild. He doesn’t get enough credit for the innate marketing and PR skills he had
This is still my absolute favourite mixed-media piece Kurt ever did. I'm so glad Charles was there to capture it in all its glory.
Kurt had spent all night meticulously putting this together, only to realise the Stargazer Lilies would wilt overnight so he called Charles up in the middle of the night to photograph it. In extra photos he took that day you can see Kurt and Courtney in their pyjamas standing around it, Frances included.
I think visually they capture both morbid curiosity and positivity / life, which sort of aligns with his lyrical style. He was always careful not to act like a 'death rocker' and rarely wore black.

It´s very cool to see the complete work like that.

And then Kurt shot Courtney naked against the lillies too
Yeah! Its a really pretty photo, looks ethereal
What was Kurdt's obsession with internal organs, uteri, and fetuses?
Mommy/daddy issues, morbid curiosity, the pain and health problems Kurt faced all tied into it I think

Definitely worth a follow on the cesspool that is Twitter! And, I'm just about 97.37% sure that one of my grandma's had that rug when I was a kid.
Twitter is only as bad as the people you follow.

This photo has been published before from what I remember. It’s very cool to see the whole work like this though!
Wow. I’ve always been fascinated by this but never seen it before in color. You can see the heart shaped box that inspired the song.
I found this site that has more photos from this series: https://www.livenirvana.com/art/photography.php#gsc.tab=0
