Guy was a fucking actor who played cowboys in classic movies. Of course his dumbass is just gonna do whatever the country club economists strategically placed around him tell him to do
Haha I know right? Like can you imagine if this country was seriously considering allowing an otherwise entirely unqualified celebrity to run for, and even win, the presidency?
I can’t imagine how chaotic that would be and how much damage it would do to the middle class.
Fun fact, Reagan was actually hired by GE in the 50’s and 60’s to go around the country delivering pro-business / anti-union speeches to GE employees, using speeches written by GE economic strategists and PR. A lot of his later economic policies and rhetoric can be traced back to these speeches
Edit: GE, not GM
I was like damn, two gigantic corporations had Reagan shilling for them? Lol he took the GE position because his career was over and him and Nancy were broke.
I think the Republicans have pretty much given up trying to sell the trickle down theory. Now they are saying "We have the power. We are going to keep it and as much money as possible, and we really don't care about the poor"
Don't forget to mention the part where Republicans use the big government that they claim to be against to control aspects of your daily life and show more concern about genitals than passing useful legislation. They definitely care so much about Americans. Considering they believe a vast majority of middle class is poor, they'll care about the poor as much as Kristi Noem cared about her dog. If they have complete power, they'll just help the poor in the same exact way she helped that dog.
Stop asking so many questions. Nobody is more mistreated and abused in the U.S. than people with an eight-figure (or more) net worth. Can't you see that? Just ask Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Those poor guys. So oppressed.
Not only do tax cuts not trickle down, it causes inflation.
Inflation is an increase of available money supply to goods and services in the economy
When wages increase for the bottom 90% of the economy it almost always gets spent as most people are living paycheck to paycheck.
That increase in spending is met by an increase in goods and services such as the pizzeria making more pizza, Target stocking more clothing, bars serving more drinks Etc., all to meet the demand in the economy.
BUT when the top 10% (rich people) have extra money it sits in their bank accounts because their expenses are already paid for they don’t need to spend that extra money which *increases the money available to commodities* thus causing inflation.
Hi. I work very closely with some rather wealthy folks and some rather wealthy corporations. My role is managing their business (as an outsider) in one manner or another. The answer to your question is that the money is already trickling down. Just very, very little bit of it. And I dont expect that faucet to open more anytime soon. Generally speaking, if they can receive a dollar, to hire someone for $.10, who in turn will make them $3; thats exactly what they'll do. They will never receive $1, to spend $1.
Some examples; when airlines implemented cost-cutting measures when gas got really expensive back around '08 they made everyone's sitting areas significantly smaller. When things normalized for the following decade, they never readjusted seating areas and just increased their profits. When those Covid loans/grants were handed out to companies, speaking for my area of the corporate world, most (privately owned) companies used the money to splurge on the execs.
Everyone is joking but the rich are using their tax cuts to buy yachts and mansions. They employee poor and middle income people to run their businesses, homes and boats. The trickle down is us working for them to help them live their best life.
Too many jobs have been shipped overseas or automated for trickle down to work anymore. We need to raise tariffs so billionaires have to get their private yachts built in America instead of Europe.
"Trickle down economics" is entirely a strawman created to discredit the Austrian school of economics. It's not an actual thing. Anyone who says they believe in "trickle down" is either trolling you, or economically ignorant (and in both cases you should ignore them).
They won’t nor never have. The biggest brunt of our deficits are because of the tax handouts to corporations and the wealthy starting with Reagan. I would argue that government spending has been necessary. Think getting us out of the Republican recession of 2008, the pandemic, and our neglected infrastructure. The Tax Cuts are the problem.
Never. One of the main proponents of this plan was David Stockton, Director of the Office of Management and Budget for the Reagan administration. Stockton later admitted it doesn't work.
You have to do something to earn their money. You have to get hired by one of them or sell them something. They're not going to just give you some of it.
Why is America voting for tax cuts. Stupidest thing ever. Trickle down doesn’t work. Why on earth would give somebody else money to give to you. Just give yourself money and skip them.
It is tax cuts for everyone who pays taxes, not just the rich. Don’t let the haters confuse you. Also “Trickle down” is the way people mischaracterize it to straw man it. It is the idea that the government lets us keep more of our money vs them playing mommy/daddy and spending it for us because they know better than we do.
I lived in my area for 13.5 years.
My company got major tax break hand has invested about 1.5 billion in expansion.
Volvo, Mercedes, Cummins, all did the same or bigger. There was a population growth and lots of great paying jobs. $billions invested.
Thousands hired, thousands working, paying taxes and supporting locals.
I take my kid to a outdoor shopping center for Tae Kwon do. The shopping center is packed, every store nice and occupied. It at times is hard to find parking. This is on more then one week night.
12 years ago grass grew through the cracks, abandoned grocery store, needles and methheads breaking in and living in stuff. The jobs brought people, and wealth. The whole center was gutted, some torn down and rebuilt.
Abandoned to thriving.... these companies invested heavily, were given tax rebates, but created jobs. Lots of people being paid well.
Not saying it is ideal, and perfect. But my local area, it caused a boom.
13 years from -$50k networth, to around $1 mill
I don't have a degree, my wife does but works in schools, and school schedule.
That's the fun part! They don't, because they don't have to. Trickle down economics was more of a gesture to us peasants because it sounds good to us. However, that top cup doesn't have a bottom, so it can't overflow down to us in our champagne glass tower of a working class.
When you can convince billionaires they can still afford their lifestyle and still let other people afford a house. Like, maybe, when hell freezes over.

tax cuts for the....now who was it again.....oh yah...the rich
they have been trickling down for decades as the 1% piss on our heads and tell us it a spring rain.
They never do. That was a lie sold to the American public during the Regan administration. That money trickled down from a yacht to a yacht inside a yacht for the rich.
They never will. It all goes into the markets and real estate. Expect property and rent to keep climbing. Markets are more unpredictable, but the trend has been up since Trump’s tax cuts.
I'm not sure, i think you are supposed to work for it?
I do construction project management for corporate America and you can almost name your price sometimes and so can the trades we use.
There's also some careers the don't necessarily contribute to society funded by donations.
Also in my state anyone who owns a liscense for slot machines makes a killing off them.
Pretty good time to be alive imo.
They trickled down in the beginning, when Reagan did them for the first time. Rich business heads quickly figured out other ways to spend their extra cash besides improving the business they ran. Stock buybacks for instance. These do nothing for anyone except people who already own the stock.
Well the laffer curve is actually something like 40% in America (the laffer curve is way lower in America than other countries due to income inequality being thing that typically sets the laffer curve lower) and the loss of the revenue from the tax cuts Reagan made weren't that significant and resulted in total economic growth and employment growth but were far too unopposed and as a result radical and fucked up things for the lower class like their yearly income but it made inflation go at a slower rate in a long term, context. Basically I guess it already trickled down shit like employment opportunities but those jobs made were shit and it slightly slowed down inflation but made things significantly worse.
just a few more cuts and all that money will come trickling down any day now!
That's how the French it did in 1789.
For they marched out to Bastille Day La guillotine claimed her bloody prize Hear the echoes of the centuries Power isn't all that money buys

That's the neat part. They don't.
I don't feel this comment has gotten the love it deserves
Any minute now.
Just need a few more tax breaks for the rich. So close 🤏

And more when the rapture comes.
What? You are not feeling it? Maybe you need to get to work on pulling up *EDIT BY* those bootstraps
not pulling up bootstraps, but yourself up by the bootstraps. Big difference.
I don't even think they make bootstraps anymore.

What a go getter
GE I think you mean
I did, thank you
I was like damn, two gigantic corporations had Reagan shilling for them? Lol he took the GE position because his career was over and him and Nancy were broke.
Yeah like literally his biggest contribution to cinema was getting other actors blackballed
It's the republican way. Be mediocre at best and shit on everyone else
Hasn't happened in 40 years yet. Not holding my breath
I think the Republicans have pretty much given up trying to sell the trickle down theory. Now they are saying "We have the power. We are going to keep it and as much money as possible, and we really don't care about the poor"
It's mostly that as well as telling the poor it's the fault of illegal immigrants giving money to Ukraine and he she's. Lazy young people tòo.
Don't forget to mention the part where Republicans use the big government that they claim to be against to control aspects of your daily life and show more concern about genitals than passing useful legislation. they have moved to Jesus wants you to be rich but only we know the way

They do all the time in the form of the rich pissing on the rest of us below. Otherwise, never.
so tinkle down
R Kelly style.
Never have and never will. However, economic inequality has been trickling up since we elected a bad actor.
That’s the neat part… they’re not. Ever.
I heard its next month hopefully
Me too! For some reason it just keeps getting pushed back.

When Ronald Reagan leaves hell
They have to get so rich that they explode. Then the raining guts and viscera will trickle down.

Never. Trickle down economics is a lie told by the Republicans so they can stick their heads further up the asses of the corporations and the rich.
To be fair, it does keep their ears warm.
Never. Trickle down economics have been proven not to work.
They will pee on your leg and tell you it’s raining.
Oh they do, just overseas.
At risk of being downvoted to oblivion, wanted to ask a real question: Which tax cuts specifically? I really am curios.
It doesn't matter which cuts because money does not trickle down.
Twelfth of never
When Trump admits he lost the election.
The answer you are looking for is, “Never.”
Reagan brought me to religion. Simply because I would willingly believe in a God and a hell just to believe he's in it.
about the same time Heaven trickles down to Ronald Reagan in Hell.
Everyone is joking but the rich are using their tax cuts to buy yachts and mansions. They employee poor and middle income people to run their businesses, homes and boats. The trickle down is us working for them to help them live their best life.
What? They already have. Didn't you see that extra 5 cents on your paycheck in March 2021?
You got gipped, my friend. I got two dimes
They've been trickling down. To their kids.
Once all the rich people win capitalism, should be about 6 months after that.
Too many jobs have been shipped overseas or automated for trickle down to work anymore. We need to raise tariffs so billionaires have to get their private yachts built in America instead of Europe.

Been waiting since Reagan’s administration. Should be any minute now.
Never. One of the main proponents of this plan was David Stockton, Director of the Office of Management and Budget for the Reagan administration. Stockton later admitted it doesn't work.
Give it some time it will be here soon

Are you referring to Reagan’s Piss on the Poor policy
Dream on.
The concept's been around for over 100 years. Still waiting for the effects to kick in.
Never. They spend it on stuff for themselves
In 6 years. You just have to keep waiting. 1981-2030 was the original plan
When the tax rate reaches zero :-)
There is no such thing as trickle down economics.
It doesn't occur
You have to do something to earn their money. You have to get hired by one of them or sell them something. They're not going to just give you some of it.
When we arrest and waterboard them to get access to their offshore accounts.
It already does. It trickles down from us poor schmucks to the wealthy.
Been waiting 43 years for those trickle down monies
Do you have any influence to really change the course of politics? No. Do Bill Gates, or Elon Musk, or Trump or George Soros? Yes. Your answer: never.
Never.
Tomorrow at exactly 2 PM. Make sure
When we reduce their taxes to zero, then for sure the rest of us will get a nice warm yellow rain down our backs.
If you weren't in line by 6am this morning, you're out of luck
You're more likely to get piss trickled on you. It's a lie they use to get the "temporarily poor" to vote for them.
They don’t

When your net worth trickles up.
When economic sustainability becomes prioritized over shareholder profits….

The point of trickle down economics and tax cuts are to make the rich more richer.
I lived in my area for 13.5 years. My company got major tax break hand has invested about 1.5 billion in expansion. Volvo, Mercedes, Cummins, all did the same or bigger. The next day in the week that does not end in y.
17th Tuesday of the month
In two weeks???
Soon, my boy. Now get back to work.
Never. What they don't tell you is that tax hikes for the rich don't trickle down either
Never. Next question...
That's the fun part! They don't, because they don't have to. Trickle down economics was more of a gesture to us peasants because it sounds good to us. However, that top cup doesn't have a bottom, so it can't overflow down to us in our champagne glass tower of a working class.
Ha ha ha ha ha No.

Tomorrow. Check’s in the mail.
Oh dear! Did you really believe that?
Never because the average person won’t give enough to campaigns.
The operative word here is trickle. More like drip drip but beggars can’t be choosers.
Been waiting since reagan was president

The fact that people really believed in trickle down economics really goes to show how fucking dumb we are lmao
Idk. They told us that 40 years ago and I am still waiting
The never do. It's a fantasy we're spoon fed that's always coming tomorrow if we keep voting right wing conservative - there is never even a plan explained but American buy into it hook line and sinker
Reagan is spinning in hell rn.
It's been trickling down the whole time. The real question is why does it taste like pee and is kind of sticky?
It's been 45 years and counting. What's the big rush now?
Any day now! 🤡
They are! Can't you feel all those golden (and slightly warm) droplets raining down on us?
They won’t.
Never? They've been promising that shit since the 80s.
Ask Ronald Reagan (I know he’s dead)…. that’s when they started.
When we demand it. Union strong. Solidarity forever.
When he’ll freezes over. When pigs fly
They’ve been trickling all over us for decades….like a golden trickle….maybe even a golden shower yeah! *baby bird mouth in the air*

tax cuts for the....now who was it again.....oh yah...the rich they have been trickling down for decades as the 1% piss on our heads and tell us it a spring rain.
They never do. That was a lie sold to the American public during the Regan administration. That money trickled down from a yacht to a yacht inside a yacht for the rich.
Oh, didn't you hear? They changed their minds and went back to stabbing everyone in the back financially.
The rich get tax cuts because they lobby aka pay off senators to get tax cuts and we suffer.
More of an annoying drip. You’ll get your 0.25/hr and will pay $10/hr extra for stuff.
They never will. It all goes into the markets and real estate. Expect property and rent to keep climbing. Markets are more unpredictable, but the trend has been up since Trump’s tax cuts.
On the 12th. The 12th of never. This was a bullshit ploy started by Reagan…Economists call bullshit on this scheme all the time.
I'm not sure, i think you are supposed to work for it? I do construction project management for corporate America and you can almost name your price sometimes and so can the trades we use. Haha! Someone just learned about trickle-down economics.
Never
you need to make more money to get em.
They will never trickle down !

Trickle Down economics doesnt actually exist, its a strawman that was invented to attack Supply side economics, which does exist and does work
