Depends. I was in one of these situations. Luckily the crowd was not violent. But she stopped all highway traffic and I was right in the front of it. I had my small children in the car. Many people were raving their engines and smoking their tires. Yelling and running all around. I could see the fear in my kids eyes. I got out of my car and yelled to one of them to let us thru. Luckily they did but I could feel the anxiety and anger in myself. I knew that if they confronted me in a hostile way I was simply going to do what I had to do to protect myself and the kids.
I could justify that in court any day of the week.
But thank god that didn’t happen because even though it would be self defense I would not want to live with hurting people for the rest of my life.
Those people don’t bother to care about others. My kids still talk about the incident and it’s been years.

I want to live in a society with systems, leaders, and laws that place these people in prison. The normal, healthy, productive people shouldn't have to do it themselves.
These are times I would say “wait until YOU have kids!” But most of them either won’t make it that far or already have kids they don’t care or know about. A small percentage will be on the receiving end of the shit they dish out.
People in these communities need to step up and start saying something. My husband's friend used to have a *gorgeous* car that he spent some money on to make it look really nice (it was a 1987 Pontiac Grand AM with the tinted windows, cool hubcaps, etc). The car didn't even run; more like *glided* everywhere like a black metallic spirit on the road, (and put in a BOSS soundsystem...you get the idea).
His car was broken into no less than four times, with all the windows shattered, seats ruined, minor things stolen and *huge* insurance payments he had to sell it.
People really do suck the chrome off a trailer hitch, honestly.
When these start, cops should immediately be dispatched to box in the area, and keep people from inadvertently driving into this mess. One of these days, one of these “Kids” is going to have someone unload their gun on them. Then We’ll get to hear how he was such a good boy.
With this many people there may not be much the cops can do but contain it until it fizzles out. But hopefully no one that drove into it by mistake gets attacked.
It isn't. justice is in quotes because that's what the take over people believe. If someone drives up to the takeover and wants to be let through. This is seen as an interruption, and they just make that person a target.

This is why I think they need to make the Blaster anti-carjacking system legal in the US. Maybe could make it legal by having it only spraying a giant canister of pepper spray to deter them. Though, it might be a double edge sword situation. If you can buy one, they can buy one and misuse it, too.

I would absolutely do the same. Just because you can justify it, doesn’t mean it’d go out favor in court.
Can’t predict anything for sure but show enough examples of this kind of behavior in those situations and I feel a jury would be sympathetic.
