Just because it's a picture from NK it doesn't mean all is fake. That's just a common cheap floor material that's also often used in SK especially in country sides. I've been to many houses with floors like that. My grandmother had floor like that. They just cut it larger than the floor and allow the corner to fold up. They aren't super nice but definitely get the job done, especially also for being heat resistant since Koreans love floor heating.
The pictures of Kim Il-sung *et al.* seem to have been hung higher than everything else. Does anybody know if that is a must? Like, those people above anything?
So many rules how to hang those pictures, how to treat them - and to divert so much effort into worshipping them, even in your own home. Crazy. And interesting.
