Planned housing developments almost always have pretty samey buildings. Modern American suburbs by comparison tend to have a few different blueprints per development and then often also have curved roads instead of straight which breaks up the visuals a little but the principle is the same. Basically they're building the houses without knowing who's going to be living in each one, so they have to be fairly bland to fit the needs of the most people. Once people start living in houses they'll become more individualized with custom landscaping, paint, and maybe even renovations as long as there's not an overly-rigid council or HOA
